Hi y’all!! Soo I had to place my microphone closer to my camera today (weird stuff is happening with it.. it’s on the fritz) so you’re going to hear my lens turning. I couldn’t do anything about it so let’s all just pretend it’s not an annoying sound. 😅 Thank you!! ❤
I just spent all day today, pulling every skein of yarn out and paper and pin, wrote out what it was and how much. Bagged them up, marked the bag with the yardage. Got out the patterns that I want to make, and wrote out what pattern it is and how much yarn I need and what thickness. I organized them in my shelf by sweater quantities and cowl quantities, etc. Then I sat down and looked at the yardage on the patterns and matched out the yardage on the yarns and now have a complete idea of what I have to work with. My shelfs were so messed up. I got rid of two shopping bags of odd ball yarn that I have no project for. I am a very happy person right now! I've got 2 sweaters that are almost complete and then I can start to knit up my stash. To be honest, I've not bought a lot of yarn for the past 3 or 4 years. I really would like to buy new yarn, but I needed to know what I had.
I did a stash cleanup last week as well. So much bending and stretching my hamstrings were hating me the next day. But i cleaned out an entire box of yarn that I know I will never use and sent it off to the thrift shop with a happy heart. Looking forward to shopping my stash for the next couple of months and destashing further.
Fish Lips Kiss heel…best ever. Makes a professional looking and well-fitting. By the generous and clever Sox Therapist on Ravelry. Plus her idea for tracing to have patterns for individual feet is wonderful. I have a library of cardboard feet that fit my loved ones and recipients so I can make socks that actually FIT!!
We’re twinning! I knit a pair of World’s Simplest Mittens for my New Years Eve project (took 2 days as they were bulky weight & flew off the needles) & also I knit a pair of worsted weight socks this past week (although I’m a toe-up short row kinda gal) for my daughter & she’s worn them non-stop since! 🥰👍
I like that you're trying new things: à la headband. Sees mittens: "CUUTE!" The Frankenstein gappy look actually seems correct for a Halloween themed striped yarn, so... 😄 The sweater does look smoother. But I'm totally laughing at your movements when you said, "It DOES shed a bit on me." That was just comedic gold, the way you said and did that bit. You could do a video of cut funny moments or bloopers sometime, for a Wednesday ramble. Would be fun. And then you proceeded to punch yourself in the chin afterwards, but it was the way you dryly commented on it... 😄 The slideshow was so cute; I kept laughing at how cute it kept getting. I didn't finish the socks I was knitting, but I'm over halfway done. 👍I don't have Instagram anymore, so I dunno, I may have posted a pic in the JoAnn Loves Knitters group on fb. Hilarious again, you did this cute little aside to the yarn winner, like you're in a Shakespearean play sharing a secret with the audience. Thanks for posting Missus Earl. I appreciate the joy I found in this one.
I just stumbled acrossed this! I watch alot of knitting podcasts...so, RUclips knew they should put your podcast in my feed! haha! SO glad...I love your podcast...Beautiful makes! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Taylor! I just wanted to share with you that I made two pair of your fireplace mitts for Christmas gifts this year, and they were well loved by each recipient. It's a great pattern. I plan to make more of them. My brother is a cyclist and I think he would really enjoy the long version. Your little red mittens are precious. I can remember making little mittens for my son and feeling so proud watching him play in the snow with them on.Happy Knitting!
This makes my day Jan! Thank you for letting me know. And the long ones would be great for your brother. Perhaps size down for him so they stay in place a bit better. I designed them to be slouchy, so sizing down may provide him a more snug fit for when he's riding. And thank you, in regards to the mittens. It's such a sweet thing to me and you're absolutely right. It's a source of pride. Happy New Year Jan!
The mittens for your son are a-dor-able! Im a mother and grandma and totally get the emotion that goes with that gift and the pleasure you must have watching them being used! Lovely holiday vlog as always! 🧤
My favorite short row heel is the Shadow Wrap and Denise from EarthtonesGirl has great tutorials on RUclips. I had the gap problem until I started using this heel. Don’t mind the gap-they are beautiful socks!
I also knit those mitts for my grandson and they are adorable. Just love your Noro yarn combo. For a while I've been a die hard fan of the shadow wrap heel method by Earthtones girl, but I have just tried the fleagle/ gusset heal and it is fab, I love the fit, no holes and nothing to pick up, so easy, I followed the tutorial by Chilli Dog X
I love that you said, “Frankenstein’s monster”. 🙌😂 Also, cutest red mittens ever. I wrapped a pair of socks very similarly for each of my children, and when they opened them and squealed and put them on their feet immediately, my mama heart just soared! So I get it. ❤
Socks were on my bucket list for 2023 but I decided I would give your KAL a try. Only got one and a quarter of a second one done but that was mainly because I tripped the heel of the first sock out about 5 times. I consider myself an advanced beginner as I've technically been knitting for about twenty years but only in spurts and I tend to stick to fairly simple patterns. I did a Turkish cast on for the toe (easy peasy) but that heel. After reading around and checking out various RUclipsrs I decided a short row heal would be easiest as I've done short rows for sweater neckline finishing before and there was less math. I started with German short rows which were either too loose or too tight. And after much trial and error ended up with a shadow wrap variation which I've still not sure about. I was actually surprised that other than not quite like the look of the heel, socks were actually a lot easier than I thought they would be. So thanks for the inspiration to move forward on my knitting journey. I can definitely see myself knitting a lot more socks in the future.
I just made one of the pair of the “World’s Simplest Mittens” in fingering weight yarn to match my Musselburgh hat. It fits well. It is light weight, as you would expect with fingering weight yarn, but I like that for times I want a little warmth for my hands but don’t want my hands to sweat. Your Christmas socks are cute. As for the so-called mistakes, who is going to know about them besides you? They’re on your feet. I mean, how many people bend down to scrutinize the socks on your feet? I remind myself of that when my socks don’t meet my perfectionistic standards.
I love your socks. I think that you would like the shadow wrap short row heel. It requires no counting, has no gaps and no holes. There are excellent tutorials at The Chilly Dog and at Earthtones Girl. Good luck. Love your podcasts!
The Shadow Wrap heel is by far the easiest short-row heel. It's very similar to the Fish Lips Kiss heel (which fits slightly better in my opinion), but is easier to do. Earth Tones Girl has a great video tutorial.
YES, yes, you have caused a run on Fisherman's Wool!!!!! I saw your podcast on your sweater and decided that even though I had NEVER used it before, I would try a sweater in it. They are totally out at both places I usually buy yarn. Darn You!!!!! LOL
Hi! I bought 6 skeins of Fisherman's Wool from JoAnns because if your podcasts around a Thanksgiving sale. I plan to make a sweater and will likely add a variegated mohair or suri. I tried it together with in fingerless mitts gift knits for my nieces and they both loved them. I love the mix of affordable rustic wool with the softness of silk mohair fingering. Thanks for the great ideas.
The Shadow Wrap Heel as demonstrated by Denise on her Earthtones Girl RUclips channel is my new go-to sock heel. It’s easy, there is no counting required, no stitch markers required, and NO GAPS. Try it!
Hey, I noticed that they sell Magner bags at Wool and Company In South Elgin, IL. after I saw you show them on your podcast and they have free shipping in the U.S. 😄
You can still find the 3 packs and single skeins of lion brand fisherman’s wool online from Joann fabrics and it was just on sale. I am currently knitting the Gib sweater by Andrea Mowry in the brown heather color after you mentioned what a great affordable wool it was.
Taylor, I’m pretty sure you’re influencing powers have something to do with the shortage. 😉 I put in an order last night on LoveCrafts because it was out of stock everywhere else I looked. Also, congrats Nadine. 🎉
I never heard of Fisherman's wool before this podcast, and yes, I made my way to my local fabric store and happily found it on sale. I may go back for the marled version.
I'd totally believe your podcast is responsible for a run on Fishermen's Wool. I knew of it before, but I was reminded of it and inspired to buy 5 skeins myself after you talked about it 😅 I think the timing of you bringing it up pretty frequently right before a bunch of holiday sales probably led to quite a few sales for them.
Love a pair of used red mittens! I love Earthtones Girl shadow wrap heel for ease of knitting. The best fit for me has to be a heel flap and gusset construction. Used to frog so many projects if I made a mistake, then I realized they were part of the charm of home crafted items. If the mistake doesn't interfere with the function, then I leave it in. My makes with mistakes still outlast and look better than machine made. Only one person has ever scrutinized my handmade items/gifts ... needless to say, they don't receive handmade gifts from me anymore 😆
Happy new year, Tayler! I’m on the exercise machine so it’s hard to make a comment Worthy of the wonderful contact that you just provided. However, please know that while I am stepping, we are having a full dialogue about all the wonderful things that you’re sharing.
Happy New Year! I knit three pairs of socks for xmas gifts this year. I learned magic loop toe up with Judy's magic cast on and I love it so much. I did German short row heel...I think I followed a video by very pink knits. Still working on my husband's sweater while watching your video. ☺
Happy New Year to you and your family Tayler. Loved your podcast, I use that mitten pattern all the time for my charity. So lovely seeing you box them up. Loved your socks too. Stay warm 🥰
I was totally enabled to buy a Sentro 48 needle machine after watching your video 😂I am the person that people love to donate yarn to when they don’t know what to do with it, and I have a bunch that can be turned into charity knitting. I had looked into them before, but had not pulled the trigger, so thanks for your honest opinion. I can’t wait to play with it and clear my yarn cabinet!
I’m here to say that your podcast is responsible for my Joanne running out of Fishermen’s Wool (by me). Lol. Unfortunately, my Joanne is one of the closures. I’m knitting the Grate pattern on Ravelry. By the way, seeing you use a heavier yarn on the Sentro inspired me to try some velvet yarn I had here. It worked out great for two hats. I wouldn’t have tried it if not for you. Thank you.
I was in my local Joann the week before Xmas and they had fishermans wool on sale for 30% off. I definitely bought what they had left at the great sale price. I’ve used it before and love it too, but have been re-inspired to use it for a sweater since your podcast. Thanks again for the great content you put out on RUclips- I so enjoy your podcasts. Happy New Year!
I love your vlogs. I’ve started using some of your practical tips. I bought 3 skeins of fisherman’s wool in solid brown. After this vlog, I think using another fiber with fluff is the plan!
Love your mittens for your son and even happier that he was glad to get them as a gift. Most kids just want toys! I, too, have purchased some Fisherman’s Wool, so I think your podcast has caused a run on their brand. I’m planning on making a pair of the Firepit mints with it. Love the podcast as always, looking forward to Wednesday ramble ❤
Love your podcast! Thank you! My new favorite heel is just a gusset heel. Can be done toe up or cuff down. Hugs my heel. I got this heel instructions from the chilly dog, but can be found elsewhere. 🧦
I love how you combine suri silk with your other yarns and want to do the same. I would like to know where you purchase yours from. Also how do I order yarn from your company? Finally do I need to match up the suri yardage with my yarn to make it work. I am fairly new at all this. Thank you for this information. I am hooked on your podcast. It is a happy place for me.
Hi! Thank you so much! And yes I do in fact. Here are links to two videos you may like: ruclips.net/video/_qK6q-Fh-Ak/видео.html ruclips.net/video/OWhDQmUb5RU/видео.html
I’m still working on my Xmas socks for my boyfriend. I have had 5 surgeries on my dominate hand I have to rest it a little more than I use too. They are almost finished… yea! Knitting is my zen time. So I’m not giving it up no matter how it makes my hand feel.
Would love to hear a review of the smaller knitting machine. Do you know if you can knit sock tubes on it and then add an afterthought heel and toe? Thanks for the lovely (new to me channel). Loving your episodes. Thank you!
I love the headband, I’ve been meaning to get the smaller machine but the bunny ears on it is super off putting for me, lol. For knitting plans, I spent 8 1/2 hours on New Year’s Day taking a full inventory of my yarn and put together a spreadsheet for tracking purposes. I thought I had like 100 skeins but I ended up with 550, so my 2023 knitting plans are to use as much of my stash as I can. I’m going back to watch some of your older episodes, just recently found your page, love your insights and content!
First of all, the bunny ears! WHY!? Ugh. Yeah, totally feel you there. 🐰🥴 And as for your knitting plans, WAY TO GO! I need to do that. right now I'm only planned out through maybe April...a spreadsheet may be a good idea. ❤️ Happy New Year!
@@WOOLNEEDLESHANDS Happy new year to you as well!! I’ve been sharing my template with anyone that wants it, happy to share with you if you’d like! I am not so great about actually planning when to do projects, it’s awesome that you already have your Q1 down.
I bought some for making the gro shawl by fiber tails… it took the finish off my wood needle and split it. You weren’t kidding. Very rustic. Time to invest in metal needles?
I was beyond stressed this year trying to gift knit for everyone, so I am going to do my best to start working on gifts for next year a whole year ahead of time. Hopefully this will give me tons more time to work on personal projects that have been put on the back burner this winter season. My birthday sweater has been languishing in a corner while I have made presents like mad the last 2 months lol. Finally attempting to get over my second sleeve syndrome.
Hello and Happy New Year. I just found your podcast, and loving it so far. Those socks are awesome! Love the muted stripes. They seem to match your shirt ❤️ Since discovering the FLKH method of doing heels, I’ve used it almost exclusively except for the high instep child. And I have 4 children 4 in-law children and 10 grandchildren ranging in age 17 to 6. All have a pair of socks with FLKH. It’s my go to for socks for me although I will occasionally do a heel/flap/gusset just because it’s the pattern. Give it a try. I always do top down by the way.
Happy New Year, Tayler! I always look so forward to your new videos on Sun & Wed. I wish Fisherman's Wool was easier to find here in Canada but for some reason our Michaels doesn't seem to stock it. They have other Lion Brand yarns but not F. Wool.
Love your latest videos! I do think that just maybe you may be responsible for the "run" on the Lion Brand Fishermen's yarn... I was at Joann's today and out of curiosity decided to take a peek at the yarns sure enough all but a few natural color skeins were left... Hmmm. good job! lol. :D
I got a chance to feel the lion brand fisherman wool. I thought it was scratchy I know it is a rustic fiber but if I did use it it would have to be worn over a long sleeved shirt. Maybe it gets softer after you soak and block. Let us know what happens to your sweater. Thanks
I like the look of your sweater, and I like that you did not use mohair….but I need what kind of wool you put…..can you enlighten me. Thank and happy new year.
Happy New Year! I've knitted up socks with Nomadic Yarn and also from Lollipop Yarn (I love the speckling). If you look up Earth Tone Girl (RUclips), she has a tutorial series on sock knitting and you may find Lesson 10 and 11 interesting. Shadow Wrap Heals. Plus she has a nice technique of knitting scrappy socks without knots or fuss.
Hi y’all!! Soo I had to place my microphone closer to my camera today (weird stuff is happening with it.. it’s on the fritz) so you’re going to hear my lens turning. I couldn’t do anything about it so let’s all just pretend it’s not an annoying sound. 😅
Thank you!! ❤
Lol, I thought there was a cat purring or a dog snoring! Great job on your knits!
Didn't even notice!
I was so sure it was your cat purring!
Wow, so industrious! Great work!
Definitely going to do the same. 👍
WOW. Impressive!
Frankenstein monster stitched up look! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sees mittens: "CUUTE!"
The Frankenstein gappy look actually seems correct for a Halloween themed striped yarn, so... 😄
The sweater does look smoother. But I'm totally laughing at your movements when you said, "It DOES shed a bit on me."
That was just comedic gold, the way you said and did that bit. You could do a video of cut funny moments or bloopers sometime, for a Wednesday ramble. Would be fun.
And then you proceeded to punch yourself in the chin afterwards, but it was the way you dryly commented on it... 😄
The slideshow was so cute; I kept laughing at how cute it kept getting.
My go to mitten pattern...love, love, love!!
Loved to see my socks shown! I definitely wouldn't have finished by Christmas if it wasn't for the knit along 😅
I'm so glad you participated Zoe! Thank you!
I love the suri with the fisherman's wool! And you have totally inspired me to knit some red mittens for my boys ❤
Oooh fisherman’s wool with Suri sounds dreamy!
Oh let me tell you...it so is! ❤️

I love your sweater! Frankenstein sweaters end up being the best fit ❤ thank you for the shoutout!
The mittens for your son are a-dor-able! Im a mother and grandma and totally get the emotion that goes with that gift and the pleasure you must have watching them being used! Lovely holiday vlog as always! 🧤
I've just discovered your podcast and am now *very* invested in your improv sweater.
Thank you Alicia!! ❤️
I love that sweater! Great combo with all the different patterns and the yarn!
Omgs I’ve been busting these mittens out wonderful pattern!!!!!!! It is free
My favorite short row heel is the Shadow Wrap and Denise from EarthtonesGirl has great tutorials on RUclips. I had the gap problem until I started using this heel. Don’t mind the gap-they are beautiful socks!
Yes, Denise’s heel pattern is lovely!
I totally bought a sweater amount of fisherman's wool because of you
Well that’s really cool because I truly love it (and I hope you’re loving it too)! Thank you for watching Lydia! ❤️
I am on my 2nd pair of firehouse mitts. Love!
I love them so much also! I’ve made 5 pairs in just about a month and a half. I see many more in my future!
Omg this is the greatest! Thank you so much. ❤️❤️
Oh I’m so glad Candis! Thank you!
Loving your headband!!!

Your Fishermen’s sweater is going to be so pretty! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

My new favorite heel is the shadow wrap heel that I found on Purl Together you tube.
The Patons Kroy yarn color is Turquoise Stripes! I just finished knitting my mom a pair of socks in that colorway
Hey, I noticed that they sell Magner bags at Wool and Company In South Elgin, IL. after I saw you show them on your podcast and they have free shipping in the U.S. 😄
Awww…red mittens is my Ravelry handle….love the mittens.
Earthtonesgirl podcast has a very good tutorial for shadow wrap heel. Its my go to heel now after 14 yrs of sock knitting.
Love your fisherman sweater, looks like it’s going to be fantastic. Love your headband and socks too.
Thanks for helping me get my sock mojo back. I finished mine by Christmas and stared another pair!
Watching this and knitting some Fire Pit mitts 😁
I wish I could give someone my fisherman’s wool. I’m allergic. I definitely bought it bc of the pod😅
I bought fisherman’s wool because of your podcast aaaaand looking at the subscriber numbers on here, you might be to blame for the shortage 😂
German short rows are fun, easy, no wrap and turns and no gaps
Great tutorials by Staci Perry. Here is one for GSR

I never heard of Fisherman's wool before this podcast, and yes, I made my way to my local fabric store and happily found it on sale. I may go back for the marled version.
Your Fisherman’s Sweater looks so snuggly and fits the way I like a comfy sweater to fit…Good luck with the rest of the process!
Great podcast! I loved seeing all the socks that people made. I love all your recommendations for yarn and other knitting items. Keep them coming!

Ah, that means a lot Joanna. Thank you!
I'm so glad this was in my recommended! This is such a background video to listen to while I'm currently knitting 💖
Thank you so much for watching Brooke! This makes my night. ❤
If your sweater hugs your armpits you can't layer it! I love the sweater and I can't wait to see how it turns out!

I bought 7 skins of fishermen's at joanns because of you too!
Knitting my dog a sweater with fisherman's wool right now :)
Nadine's socks were really something special! I loved the stripes in the toe and heel. I've never seen that on a sock before.
Right!? I feel the same!
Love how your fisherman's wool sweater looks with the addition of the suri!! Now I want that Patons sock yarn color too!!!
Happy new year, Tayler! I’m on the exercise machine so it’s hard to make a comment Worthy of the wonderful contact that you just provided. However, please know that while I am stepping, we are having a full dialogue about all the wonderful things that you’re sharing.

Another lovely video!

I just love your podcasts! You brighten my day every time! I can't wait to see your "Frankenstein's Monster" sweater!
Oh cool! It's always good to have a good, charitable reason for using up all that extra yarn! Happy New Year Amy!
I loved seeing everyone's socks!
I tried to make a pair of socks by Christmas for my dad. Lol I just started the second sock today.
Hey, that's something! It's not about how fast, it's about the fact that at some point your dad will have socks. 😉❤️
I love your vlogs. I’ve started using some of your practical tips. I bought 3 skeins of fisherman’s wool in solid brown. After this vlog, I think using another fiber with fluff is the plan!
Love your sweater and was glad to see you were adding the sury. I thought about doing that, but was unsure.
Your son's mittens are great.
Also, I haven’t knit it yet, but when I get some self striping yarn, I’m going to try the simple shortbread socks by Lindsey Fowler!
How are you liking it so far??
Love them on toe up. Doing this heel for my next pair. No holes! I have a high instep/arch
Loving your podcast! Do you have one where you show us around your adorable studio??
Hi! Thank you so much! And yes I do in fact. Here are links to two videos you may like:

Taylor everything is so awesome! Wishing you all the best this New Year
I’m still working on my Xmas socks for my boyfriend. I have had 5 surgeries on my dominate hand I have to rest it a little more than I use too. They are almost finished… yea! Knitting is my zen time. So I’m not giving it up no matter how it makes my hand feel.
Good for you Donna. No rush. Be good to those hands so they can be good to your knitting. ❤️
And as for your knitting plans, WAY TO GO! I need to do that. right now I'm only planned out through maybe April...a spreadsheet may be a good idea. ❤️
Happy New Year!
You can enter the Bougie Sweatshirt kal with wips so... 😊
Happy New Year, Tayler! I always look so forward to your new videos on Sun & Wed. I wish Fisherman's Wool was easier to find here in Canada but for some reason our Michaels doesn't seem to stock it. They have other Lion Brand yarns but not F. Wool.
Wait a minute! You are wearing my shirt 😲
Really?! Wal-Mart?!
@@WOOLNEEDLESHANDS nope, the second hand store 😂
Love your latest videos! I do think that just maybe you may be responsible for the "run" on the Lion Brand Fishermen's yarn... I was at Joann's today and out of curiosity decided to take a peek at the yarns sure enough all but a few natural color skeins were left... Hmmm. good job! lol. :D
You know, you never know I guess! Thank you for watching Vicky!
I love your headband and was wondering if there was a pattern for it somewhere... 😁 I've been browsing Ravelry with no avail until now... 😅
Thank you Estelle! I actually improvised this on the 22 needle Sentro machine. I think I'll put together a quick how to for it!
I am currently knitting those mittens!!
I absolutely need to watch Denise's tutorial. I know she does the best ones so it's on my to-do now! Thank you for the suggestion Diana. ❤️
I use the Easy-Peasy No Wrap Short Row Heel by JigsawKnits. It really is Easy Peasy.
HI this is probably a random question. Did you knit your headpiece? It's so beautiful! If you did knit it - can you share the pattern please
