    Leander is definitely at home on Amiga. When the Amiga did it's own things then it was able to produce some lovely games that played well to the Amiga's strength. It's still a very capable machine and had it been supported by some of the bigger companies then it would have had even more excellent games. As it is I very much enjoy the feel of Amiga games like Elf, Niki Buum, Fire and Ice etc and occasionally the Amiga had some even more impressive games that competed well directly like this one or Lionheart, Ruff and Tumble. That's the beauty of being able to play each system so easily these days. Enjoy the best from each of the platforms and you can't go wrong

    1:13:11 To easily defeat the giant otter, you would get the lion sword, activate a rune bomb, and while the ghost roaring lion is on screen and Leander is immune to damage, the player crosses by the giant otter onto its back, and kills it by hitting the legs in safety.

      It's not smoother on the real deal (Megadrive on this video is faster), only on a RUclips video it is.
      For the Megadrive the uploader is using a 60hz NTSC on a 60fps video, perfect match thus perfect smoothness.
      The Amiga version is PAL 50hz (50fps) on a 60fps video, not perfect match so suffers with some choppy frames.
      If the uploader had recorded the Amiga version at 50fps and uploaded the video at 50fps and then you switched the monitor you're watching this on to 50hz, the Amiga version would be perfectly smooth.

    the genesis version came 1 year later... And yes, speed and animation is better on the megadrive. Its a newer game console made in 1989. The amiga 500 was made in 1987. So the hardware of the genesis/megadrive was better for gaming. The amiga was a complete 16 bit microcomputer and not only a game console. But for its time it was better then a crappy dos PC. For normal console games where better in that time. But the amiga was the first that introduced a multichannel Digital soundchip. So all music on the amiga is made with soundsamples. the megadrive uses a analoge Fm sound Chip.

    • @1001digital
      @1001digital 3 года назад

      Thats wrong. The Amiga is 32 Bit, not 16. And because of its Custom chips it was great for gaming. Mega Drive has the advantage of not having a slow floppy drive to load data from.

    • @000jimbojones000
      @000jimbojones000 3 года назад +6

      @@1001digital its not.. the amiga 500 (ocs) was a 16 bit system with the same prozessor that the genesis had a 68000 motorola processor. it only had the special denise and paula chips for sounds and gfx. The chip itself was 32 bit capable but the real 32 bit usage came in the later amiga versions. Amiga 4000 for example.

    • @1001digital
      @1001digital 3 года назад

      @@000jimbojones000 I'm quite sure that the AmigaOS was 32 Bit from the beginning. Yes, the 68000 still has a few 16 Bit parts, but there were Addons for A500 and A2000 (some of which even worked in the A1000) with 68020 and 030, later even 68040. All of these are full 32 Bit processors and were fully used by the Amiga. So the Amiga IS a 32 Bit platform.

    • @000jimbojones000
      @000jimbojones000 3 года назад +3

      @@1001digital the later processors yes. but not the a500. And in this video they compare the ocs version. it was 32bit "capable" under Amiga OS. But it wasnt rly used until the later models. Yes, it can be quite confusing. So when you use a game like this you def. only use the 16 bit mode of the system. later Processors and amiga os was full 32 bit. e.g. the Amiga 1200.

    • @1001digital
      @1001digital 3 года назад

      @@000jimbojones000 Please read it up. The 68000 ist not a 16 bit processor, only the data bus and a few registers were 16 bit. Saying the Amiga 500 is a 16 bit computer is just wrong.

      @Jackamomo
      Toy Story controls okay, has solid design, and has a lot of variety to its gameplay. Whether it's the different tasks depending on the level, or the different playstyles that help to break up the monotony. The only genuine flaw would be the difficulty, but fortunately they did address it in the PAL version with the addition of a password system.
      I didn't mention Sonic 3D Blast, or Sonic 3D: Flickies Island which I prefer personally, because it's just an average game. I like the overall design, but the repetition and slippery control does prevent it from being great. Oh and not having a password system. Then again, there's the Director's Cut which addresses some of the problems with the gameplay.

      @@ultrairrelevantnobody1862 take Galahad. An early platform game of theirs. It’s pretty. But man is it dull. They just always had good programmers but never good game designers. Toy Story is just them throwing everything at it. Coding skills galore but not much fun in the end.

      "Toy Story is just them throwing everything at it"
      Well, aside from it being faithful to almost the entire movie, you can say that about plenty of 16-bit platforming games like the Earthworm Jim series.
