The fact that Psygnosis couldn't turn enough profit with their games amazes me. Between this and Agony and SO many other truly clever games, makes me wish they'd still be around. Long Live the Amiga!... At least in my heart.
its the Original sountrack of the game Leander. One of the best games for amiga when it was still alive. Im also totally in love with this melodic tune... Back then games were often very artistically made.
If I knew someone who could program it, I'd love to manage a PC "HD" remake of this title as an homage to it, arrange all the music, redo the graphics in a higher resolution, but keep the gameplay the same, it'd be my dream project to see this game live again as a freeware hd pc title.
Ohh man! I'm like a colossal fan of your music in this game! Excellent choice mood and instruments - super-catchy stuff! (I will need to refer whoever will be doing music for my game back to Leander for reference: )
@jeanton1 It's called 'The Legend of Galahad' on the Genesis/Mega Drive. I recently bought Galahad again after owning it as a kid and not playing it for 15 years. The memories!
2 fun facts: 1 - The US version the credits says that the sequence will be Tigrander, and not the pig farmer 2 - I had a bad cracked version before the original one, and I think Psygnosys was expecting to the game to be cracked, so they removed the platform here 8:54 so the game was impossible to complete. I tried so many times, and just noticed that after getting the original... the platform was just there.
Ahh yes, Leander. Another classic game. The atmosphere that this game conveys is comparable to that of the Shadow of the Beast franchise. In fact, a lot of the graphics used in Leander sport an uncanny resemblance of Beast II. Can anyone remember the massive cardboard box that the game Leander was packaged in?
I played this game to death on my Amiga, one of my all-time favorites for it. A few years ago, I found the EA port for Sega Genesis that was renamed Galahad. Exactly the same except for being able to have both music and sound FX at the same time and the difference in sampling by the Genesis sound chip. Probably helped that the Genesis was based on the same architecture as the Amiga, heh. There's a lot of perfect Amiga ports on that platform.
I actually had the Genesis version of this, "Legend of Galahad." The changes to the game are slightly puzzling, but I have a feeling it was that old "We don't like Japanese imagery" card. =P
I actually just finished the game, I played with sounds in game while i played the MOD songs in the background with some audio player (foobar) in the background... next level? next song!
0:47:15 A... A coin volcano? Now I've seen everything. Talk about a blatant, and awesome farming point for players to get the cash they need. What I wouldn't give for a money volcano to burst out of the ground around here... because then I could just buy it back!
It's pity you can't play Leander with music and sound at once. Would've been nice if they (cubex55 or in this case Retroplay) had played with sound and added the music to the video the same way they have done it with the longplay of Chuck Rock (Amiga version).
You did not rescue the prisoners ( Lemmings) in world 3.3. That stage was suppose to be a joke by Pysgnosis-Team 17. You found a way out but you went right by it. Playing the full game is what makes it fun.
Haha, yeah, I know that method. I used it for some games which refused to play the audio tracks of the CD - sadly it's not always as easy as "next level, next song" though. ;P
@wrestletube1 That was one of the bummers that caused a major downfall in the games quality of those 2 major gaming brands although it their subsidiaries which teamed up to make it. Electronic Arts was stupid and actually decided to put their name on the SEGA versions box though unlike Psygnosis with the AMIGA version which I think didn't wanted to put their label on a pile of crap which was a smart move but it still ended up being brought by Sony.
@coldstorageman123 One thing I used to love about the good old Psygnosis, now Sony UK after being brought out by SONY Imageworks games in the UK platformers was the music, the othere great thing about them were the graphics. The only crap game from them I've seen was a Delphine Software/Travelers Tales Fighter called Shaq-Fu where the sub company from Psygnosis which is TT and the sub company from Electronic Arts which was DS teamed up and made one of the worst fighters ever mass produced.
This and First Samurai were my favourite games back in the day. Miss my Amiga 500+.

Some of the best computer game music ever.
Leander and First Samurai were on top of the platform games competition at the end of 1991 on the Amiga.

The final boss was Thanatos. A demon God who's lower body was comprised of wind. And he was a huge disappointment. He was incredibly easy to beat.

To the tune of 'Walk on the Ocean'...
~Walk off the platform... step on sharp stones...~
Cant but Agree... Very Melodic.....
Great play by " retroplay" !
Never played this game, but it reminds me of Shadow of the Beast series.
SOUND +GAME YERY BEST OF AMIGA
Very smart and stylish game.
did you really work on the soundtrack of this game? in that case you deserve some praise :)
I actually had the Genesis version of this, "Legend of Galahad." The changes to the game are slightly puzzling, but I have a feeling it was that old "We don't like Japanese imagery" card. =P
I think my version had a bug. I reached a point that simply couldn't be traversed.
No bug, that was a copy protection as a result of a bad crack. You can google it.

Does anyone know the name of the Sega Genisis version Leander. I have been trying to find but it is under a different name.
I don't think you watched it all the way till the end. Thanatos was beaten in seconds.

I loved this game and still have my copy somewhere. You just don't get endings like that now. Leander the Pig Farmer!

You found a way out but you went right by it. Playing the full game is what makes it fun.
Ha ha! The ending message was hilarious!
Why are you NOT using the TEMPEST BLADE!!?? the best blade is this one since you can get invencible and cut a lot of time running with the tornado
I tried the Tempest Blade but while using the sword tornado I still lost health when running into an enemy. But it looks great when you're spinning.

Didn't they put out a cracked version of this game with that bug so people couldn't finish it?
Leander is Legend of Galahad? o.o
@AwollSGF not to mention lemmings.
Amiga is still alive! I'm only 19 but think the Amiga is awesome. I own an A1000 hooked up to a 20" CRT.
Seriously, fuck emulation, and fuck LCDs.
:)
This game is fascinating for the first 10 minutes but way too repetitive. That's a good opportunity missed to me.
well it good but ther no sound =S o well i alway loved your game anyway =D
dunno, but mine was cracked.
