Messing about by replacing the Thermal Paste on my Asus ROG Swift GL502VM Laptop

- Last video of the year figured I'd do something super basic before we call it quits for holiday. Not really sure who this video is for, maybe just me, idk.

i use the same asus gl502vm and also replaced the thermal paste. I could NOT fix those damn CPU temps by doing that. I have seen that what really helps is getting the intel utility tool and push down the voltage of the cpu by about 100-130millivolts that improved my cpu temps by almost 10 degrees Celcius and then i also clocked the cpu at about 2,5Ghz instead of 3,1ghz it usually ran at for me giving me about 90% of its performance (which was no problem for games like gta v, cs go , wow) and that also gave me an almost 10 degree Celcius improvement. All in all i managed to get my cpu down to 75-80 which i was really happy with

You can also reduce the cpu temp by
Setting the maximum processor state from 100 to maybe 60 %
I ended up just replacing the entire thing. I'm probably just going to avoid high end laptops like this in the future.
The OPOLAR air duster works well for dust (on amazon)

Probably a good idea as opposed to blowing on everything
Do NOT use compressed air/gas at first - all you do is push the dust, hair, fur, bugs etc further INTO the laptop
Try suction first with a vacuum (but only with the hose, no attachment) - the air inlets first then the outlets - and cover the other openings with your hand or masking tape ... the reverse flow first will loosen up stuff stuck in the heatsink
@@jfkastner air blower exit to input (i.e. the opposite direction of airflow) and suck from where the air flow input is which is a little common sense.
And remember if using any of these techniques try not to spin the fans as then the electric generated by the fan (like an alternator on a car) will push electric back into the board with being powered on or off which again is common sense.

I'm wondering if it was a good idea, just putting thermal paste on the VRM and vram too. Maybe pads would have been better.
Also, same s**t with the battery as well, the cells were TOTALLY bloated.
Well so far it’s been fine. Hasn’t crashed once. So I guess it’s fine. Lol
@@SPXLabs Hehehe, my sis had a BSOD, after the mod. But then admitted those bsods happened already before due to a driver or whatever ...
As long the temps are around 70 and 80° I guess it's fine. When it rises again and goes over 85° then it will be time for a proper repaste and pads this time.
Some people said, the mx4 paste I used is also not optimal and prone to pump out. We'll see ...

I have almost the same laptop gl502V. I have replaced thermalpaste but I do not know the size of thermalpads. Is there any chance you remember right thermopads thickness to this laptop?
Sorry man I do not remember. The thing never really worked too well later on and I just ended up giving up on it.

Lol yeah I’m feeling it. It works only slightly better now. Still crashes due to heat after a little while
