My father died over 10 years ago. He studied classical guitar and flamenco as well, he used to play this song every time anyone ever got a guitar out, he died before he could ever teach me, and I could never remember the name of the song, one night I was laying down to sleep and had classical music on a playlist, and this video came on. I don't know how fast I must have sat up as soon as I heard the first few measures, but I will never forget the joy of finding this piece of music. Now it will be my turn to pass it on to my children someday.
You've pretty much got it. People think Romanza is a beginners piece, probably because most people can manage the first few bars but to play it properly and smoothly takes quite a lot of technique and that comes with time and practice.
I totally love, LOVE your rendition of Romanza as you inspire my to study classical guitar and practice hard every day. I have only started playing guitar about one year ago and as such I struggle across 4 frets with pain in my fingers. I figure the challenge, well received, will make me a better guitarist over time. Any advice you can give me would be appreciated.
I am just turned 80 and have just started to learn classical guitar and I wish had started 70 years ago. What a superb performance of this popular guitar piece, I shall keep on practising and if I live to be 100 I might be able to play it 10% as well!
I requested this to be played by the acoustic guitarist at Icon of the Seas cruise ship last February 2024. He gladly played it while doing his guitar session at Icon's Central Park. What an unforgettable & memorable moment.

'with feeling' was a phrase etched in my brain during piano recitals as a kid. 😂 My tutor would be behind the curtains of the auditorium whispering this constantly as I played a piece of 6 notes repeated over two bars to the beat of three😂😂 called 'Batter up'... I was 7 and I moved my parents to tears with my performance.😮
My father passed away 10yrs ago and this reminds me of my childhood, he used to play this using guitar/ukulele. I've been dying to know the title of this, luckily I attended a xmas party last night in a Spanish Restaurant here in the Philippines and I suddenly heard this as a background song. 🥺 I searched all classical songs guitar fingerstyle cover and i found it at last, 🥺 Thank you!
Classical guitar such as this deserves more attention. There's something special about how simple the sound is, it's good background music when you don't want something too intense.
Perfection! I first heard this melody back in 1966 when visiting family in Norway. Lill Lindofors had just released a lovely vocal version of this called "Du Er Den Ende". It was a huge success. I bought the LP then and there and have enjoyed it for years. I later learned that the song was based on a traditional Spanish melody made for guitar. I now believe that your guitar playing skills were made expressly for this melody - Bravo!
