    Glad you put in the ditches to slow water or to drain in one direction. Farms up here have lost acres of land along the Nolichuckey. Some have lost their barns , livestock , homes & lives. The Nolichuckey has changed its course taking tons of land with it. Thanks to people all over the USA 🇺🇸 for helping out if they could. 🙏 👍

      Certainly Bill, the damage this hurricane brought is life changing. Praying for all those affected by this tragedy.

      @cervus-venator The day after it hit & some water receded one community of farmers got their skid steers , backhoes & tractors to clean off a bridge that was covered in logs & lumber. The County showed up later to help. Concrete Bridge above & 1 below it were gone. Sections of Interstates 26 & 40 towards NC are gone. Places in NC are even worse. 😢🙏✝️

    Good prep work , water erosion is a tough one.

      Yes it is. Even with the preps it still was able to do some damage.

      @cervus-venator  Месяц назад +1

      No not too bad considering the amount that fell in a short time. The ditches certainly helped to prevent any major washing.

      Yes, I could have built a big berm across the field, but them I would have had a lake in the middle of the field.

    The ditches worked which is all that matters really. It was worth doing it for sure. Were you the only one in the area that did this or was everyone else doing this as well?

    • @cervus-venator
      @cervus-venator  Месяц назад +1

      As far as I know I was the only one. I looked at a couple of other fields and saw a lot of dirt in the roads that washed out, but i didn't see bad damage. A lot of the true farmers have levies built into their fields to keep them from washing. One day i may be able to do that myself.

    Its hard to control that much water. I bet you had 3 inches an hour for several hours. Last tropical system that came through here flooded the street past my sidewalk.

    • @cervus-venator
      @cervus-venator  Месяц назад +1

      I'm sure it came down quick and hard based on the runoff through out the field and the full ditches. It did at the house.
