I have the first M18, not the Savannah, in 6.5 Creedmoor and I love it. I just took my second elk with that same gun. The action is incredible, with great ergonomics and both smooth and ultra reliable. It has a 5 shot detachable magazine, 3 position safety, and a great trigger. It fits my shoulder nicely. And, it's light, 6 pound'ish empty. I have a Leuopold 2 x 7 scope on it and it's my go-to gun. I wanted the lightest gun able to shoot the minimum round for elk so I picked this combination. It likes 143 grain Hornady ELDX ammunition shooting 3/4" groups at 200 yards but Nosler and Swift also load their terrific hunting rounds in 6.5 CM so for hunters there are other great choices out there.
Looks like a nice rifle. Question. The specifications chart says that the test caliber falls 6.5 Creedmoor. However, in the article it says the rifle tested was chambered in 308 Winchester. Which caliber was it?
The “Mauser” action everyone talks about is a controlled round feed. That is the Mauser model of 1898 AKA the Mauser 98 (M98) This is not that. The Mauser M18 is a push feed three lug action. It’s still a fantastic action and rifle in my opinion.

Thanks for the info. I’m gonna buy the savanna model.
how hard should I tighten the screws on a mauser m18, I have an aluminum picatinny rail. I want to use a torque screwdriver

I gather it is the Mauser controlled feed action right?

Not all M18's use a double stack magazines, for example their .223 is a std in-line magazine.
Made in Germany....still😂
