Man, every time I rewatch The Two Towers, that moment when the elves marched in to help Rohan. "An alliance once existed between elves and men. Long ago, we fought, and died together. We come to honor that allegiance." I cri evritim..
lol yeah the man is talented though, and it also explains why even though gimli has the most "character" he only gets a third the screentime as orlando bloom, still a uge fan though love LOTR!
For me, the one scene in this movie that got it for me, more than Gandalf fighting the balrog and Gollum arguing with Smeagol, was when Theoden is talking to Gandalf about burying his son, Theodred. "No parent should ever have to bury their child." Very haunting because it showed just how much this war had cost them and that the people were in serious need of hope.
Along with Star Wars & the Wizard of Oz the LOTR movies have had the greatest impact on my life. A lot of other things that aren't movies too obviously have made impacts but still you get the point
Two towers is also my favorite, I loved the introduction of gollum, and the people of Rohan, and loved the Battle at helms deep more than the Battle in Mina's tirith.
Paul Clausen indeed. And when I hear someone say they are not amazing or even good or that they suck, I am tempted to beat that person with their own spine.
Oh I would never fake an impersonation with a voice over. That'd make me the Milli Vanilli of impersonations....you guys don't remember Milli Vanilli....well, they were 2 guys- ok, they don't matter. Point is, yes it's me. Glad you liked it! Tis one of my favorite voices I can do. It used to drive my moms dog bat shit crazy.
What...the...f*ck! That Gollum impression was perfect! I really had to listen if it wasn't just a lipsync. And really, there is no difference. I just had to pause the video to type this, I never do that. This was great!
One thing I thought they nailed before the Helms Deep battle was the sense of hopelessness before the fight. You feel the fear that Aragorn and the people of Helms Deep are going through. That was really heavy and very well done.
Fuck. That Gollum impression was SICK!!! Best one I've ever heard. Combined with your Arnie impression I'd love for you to do a joke using both voices.
Who cares if his reviews have spoilers, this movie was made like 8 years ago and if you haven't seen it yet you must have been under a rock for the past decade.
I find it strange how throughout all three movies not a single actor in these movies won an award for Best Actor... Viggo Mortensen and Andy Serkis spring to mind immediately but even Sean Astin was terrific in all three films
Yet when I watch this movie I sort of see the main characters as being Frodo and Sam and the Supporting characters being the rest of the Fellowship. In fact Aragorn should probably be listed as a main character due to how much his story influences the events of the story
Fellowship was better for one simple reason:.... *Sam beat the shit out of orcs with a frying pan... a fucking FRYING PAN!* That shit was hilarious and awesome!
OMG, Jeremy, your Gollum impressions get me every time. I don't know why but I'm always shocked when I hear that voice coming out of your mouth. It is so spot on, but dude, that has got to hurt the throat.
The Ents were fucking badass!!! They were gentle beings, but the sight of their dead made them furious and wanting revenge. I didn't want that to happen, but when they came in lunging rocks, and stepping on Uruk-hai, it was fuckin awesome. I remember getting so sad when I saw one caught on fire by an Uruk, and was so damn happy when I saw it get cleansed by the water from the dam... So yeah...those things are freaking badass.
I actually like the two towers more than fellowship partly because you see more of how people are dealing with all of the orcs and the battles and all of that, and partly because of Sam's speech at the end :)
As a soldier one of the things I always admired about Tolkien was the slowness of waiting and preparing that is realistic in war. The very parts you want to hurry up are the very parts that make the Two Towers awesome. War is a lot of hurry up and wait...then sudden death...fog of war...injury...blood and guts and pure terror. Tolkien got it right.
Two Towers is my favorite of the trilogy, primarily because I LOVE Rohan. I mean, I love seeing the Shire in the first one too, but I feel like Two Towers just really stepped things up.
The reason for the slowing of the pace with the walking trees was to intensify the frustration in terms of the need for them to get involved in the fight. People were dying whilst they were fussing about whether or not to take action. The Lord of the Rings was written in the shadow of Nazism and World War 2. This scene in particular is a direct reflection of Britain fighting the Nazis alone and trying to get the American's involved.
I am fairly sure he had at least one son in the military at that time as well. I know from my grandfather just how frustrated and angry Britain was at the time, and how perversely relieved they were by Pearl Harbor.
Lmar daggerwolf Firstly, try for full sentences. Second, no. He wrote some of his earliest poems and stuff during WWI, but LotR was written in the 1930s and '40s
Lmar daggerwolf I don't need to look it up, I know already. And I also know that the climate leading up to and throughout WW2 influenced LotR, not least because at least one of his sons was serving in that war. That documentary is pretty basic and misses 90% of the context.
It's funny how comparing books to movie, a lot of things were moved around, but little changes. For example, the battle in which Boromir died was moreover a small skirmish, and was in the second book, and Helms Deep had very very little in the book.
Obviously, for general interest in cinema they had to. I was just noting how they, for the most part stayed accurate to the books, if you watch all in sequence, but not on their own.
I think that having Boromir die in the first film was a better judgement by the filmmakers because it gives an emotional edge to the climax rather than just having Frodo and Sam leave.
That's because the books were written as one so the end of fellowship isn't actually a climax, so boromirs death was moved to serve as a conclusion and the battle in which he died was a small skirmish but the battle of helms deep was huge in the books but was in the middle for the films narrative structure was changed so both the frodo Sam and aragorn storyline were told at the same time instead of separate parts but helms deep was actually even bigger in the book than the movie
I've read the books and I know why they did it. I was just commenting on how the movies on their own aren't accurate to the book, but when watched in sequence they are.
Many people did not knot that Gandalf returned, however. I remember being in the theater when he revealed himself and an audible sigh passed through the audience. Great moment.
It has the greatest movie scene in the history of cinema. The wolves of Isengard scene. It's the only scene in a movie that has made me shed a tear. The movie score, the stakes, the commotion, the charge, the fight, the thought of losing Aragorn etc. I've seen that particular scene like a million times... and I always shed a tear.
I laugh every time the Eant are attacking the fortress. Because at one point when the damn releases all the water. One of the Eant comes running up, head ablaze, like it about to tackle someone, and just shoves it's head into the oncoming water.
At first, I thought the Gollum part was ADR, but then he finished and I could tell from the slight differences that Jeremy was genuinely doing an impression. And that is a huge compliment. That was awesome.
The Two Towers was a wonderful movie. I loved the introduction of Eowyn and the subtleties of Wormtongue. I always loved the scenes with Treebeard. Yes they were extremely slow and dragging, but that in itself enhanced the movie as a whole.
Two Towers is just as awesome as Fellowship, imo. The scene where Gandalf overpowers Saruman is my favorite scene, but the Battle of Helm's Deep is right under it. Jeremy, your Gollum voice was PERFECT, brother. Gollum is fucking awesome! And so is Two Towers!
With the Last Jedi out recently, and me deciding to watch the LOTR films back this year, it struck me how similar Two Towers and Last Jedi are, and why I fall towards really liking the Last Jedi. Plot A- Rey and Kylo, is the plot that actually pushes the over arching story forward, much like Sam and Frodo. Plot B - The Resistance on the run, making some bad decisions and having trouble with leadership, much like Rohan being on the run from Isengard, and Theoden making mistakes, only to be saved in the end by a Wizard (Luke/Gandalf). And the least interesting of the bunch Plot C - Rose and Finn's mission, just as was the case with Merry and Pippin and the Ents. Now of course, I think the Two Towers is a better film overall, and the similarities dont 100% line up, but nonetheless, I thought it was cool.
Except theoden's decisions are realistic and you can understand why he's doing what he's doing, unlike stupid holdo and the tree actually has a purpose in the movie.
Bro, you fucking terrified me with how good your Gollum impression, lol. I had to do a double take and watch it a few times to see if you didn't just do a voice over, mad respect!
DarthHater100, congrats for the ignorance medal. LotR books came before HP obviously. HP rips off LotR. Secondly, LotR boxoffice total is just as good as HP.
I thought you inserted the real Gollum voice and mouthed the words until I read the comments and people were talking about your "spot- on Gollum impression". Holy crap. You have a gift.
I REALLY do love the Two Towers more than Fellowship just because of that matured chemistry between the characters and that bad ass siege at Helmsdeep. The tension right before the siege is just so captured so epically!

Rusty Blade all of his impressions are pretty much spot on
LiveLoveLift92 ikr! It’s unsettling
for those of you who didnt know Gimli and Treebeard are played by the same acter
cool. didn't know that
Adds a bit of irony when Gimli scoffs at what trees talk about....XD
lol yeah the man is talented though, and it also explains why even though gimli has the most "character" he only gets a third the screentime as orlando bloom, still a uge fan though love LOTR!

Aaaah that scene was absolutely brilliant. And the music that went with it...
So sad
omg he does gollum PERFECTLY!
He doesn't he just uploads the sound from the movie :)
Kacper Mojeścik No I don't think so, although he is good enough that it sounds like it lol
Kacper Mojeścik Yes he does, if you actually looked at the tension of his throat.
***** Another clue that he does it himself, is he says it slightly differently that they do in the movie.

"Fly you fools"
It really was
*FLY YOU FOOLS!!!!*

I have a feeling he placed Gollum's monologue over his video
JacksonDuncanDesigns it was just that good
I would put his Stan Lee impression in the joke too
The Gollum/Smeagol back-and-forth argument is pretty much what always comes to my mind when I think of a perfect movie scene.
Simply astonishing was the Battle of Helms Deep. Simply astonishing.
4:10 8 years later and this is still PURE GOLD
I prefer this movie to Fellowship of the Ring, but they're both, as you said awesometacular!
True dat

I actually met Elijah Wood a week ago at Megacon. It was a really short interaction, but we said hi and I shook his hand. It was great

Least favorite of the trilogy, still better than 99.9% of movies
Haha true, even as the least favorite it got a fucking 8.7 from Imdb, that's how good it is.
+Meatwood Flac Yeah the extended cut of Two towers is really bloated, but still enjoyable. Not as good as fellowship though.

Lol
Damn I thought this was the best one
I find it strange how throughout all three movies not a single actor in these movies won an award for Best Actor... Viggo Mortensen and Andy Serkis spring to mind immediately but even Sean Astin was terrific in all three films
Actually Ian Mckellen Won best supporting actor in all three movies.
So he did my bad xD But I am still surprised by Viggo not even being nominated
Michael Andrews That's because he wasn't the leading roll and the supporting roll was already taken.
Yet when I watch this movie I sort of see the main characters as being Frodo and Sam and the Supporting characters being the rest of the Fellowship. In fact Aragorn should probably be listed as a main character due to how much his story influences the events of the story
Bilbo Took no he didn't.
He has only been nominated twice and only one was from Lord of the Rings.
Fellowship was better for one simple reason:.... *Sam beat the shit out of orcs with a frying pan... a fucking FRYING PAN!* That shit was hilarious and awesome!
I don't remember that scene... =\
And I've seen the movie several times.
Shineymcshine79 In Moria when they're battling with the orcs/goblins and troll. Pretty funny ☺
Ah yes! Now I got it.
Whatever works, right?
There’s a reason why it’s Peach’s most powerful weapon in Super Mario RPG!!
Your Gollum impersonation is great
The counting game with gimley and legolas was awesometacular
I don't understand why Peter Jackson cut out the scene where Faramir sees Boromir for the last time at Osgiliath.
Nick Price unnecessary obviously. Cool scene but the movie was already long enough and it wasn’t needed to move the plot along. Use your brain bro
