Very best fishing show !
Great fish guys and another memory. Wahoo.
Thank you!
Been waiting forever for you guy. Finally a sence of normalcy. Great video.
More to come!
Been dyeing to see those baitcasters in action.
So much fun!
Yahoo for the Wahoo! Just another day at the office
and a good day!
Awesome video! Funny how Ali says not to pump and what’s he do, pumps the rod 😂
He's learning.....
Best fishing show on the internet. So much better for fisherman than Blacktiph IMO
Thanks so much!
Hey what’s up with 5,000 plus views only 194 likes. In any case a it was a great show with a great production crew both onsite (even with steady cam camera) , additional film boat, and editing. Thanks to you at Local Knowledge and Bloody Decks too.
Cheers
Thanks for that!
Finally season six !!!!! 😆
It's here!
Loved the episode, good to see you guys back at it!!
Stoked to be back! Thanks David.
Given both of your loves of bottom fishing, you should check out the gulf coast of mainland FL for an episode! Some of the best grouper and amberjack fishing out there; a trip out to the Elbow or Middle Grounds would be sweet to watch.
If you want something unique, wintertime fishing for big gags up in Crystal River would be sick to see. You can fish rock piles in 6-10 ft of water with shallow diving plugs and topwaters to catch some quality groupers on artificial.
Loving the show and the new season is off to great start!
We have been trying to get out of Tampa and do that killer grouper fishing but the weather has caused us to cancel 3 times! We are all in when the weather and timing allows!
@@LocalKnowledge sick to hear. Can't wait to see it when it happens
Love this show!
Thanks for watching! Please share with your friends.
That is a beautiful fish…
Thanks so much!
Ali,,, If possible in one of your tackle room videos
would you just focus on "planer" fishing. One of your
complete dissection on ALL the gear & sizes to start
covering the spectrum of planer fishing. Got a good
handle on what to do but think one your videos on
the subject would be great. Thanks/tight lines,,,,
Believe planer trolling & slow pitch jigging both
to be tops for plain o'l meat fishing.
We really don't do a lot of planer fishing. I'll keep an eye out for an expert.
You indicated you use 150' of wind-on mono leader. What size of mono are you using?
Really enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Usually 80#
Not for nothing but i will always go light tackle if im having fun
Definitely more fun!
Great Episode.
Thanks Bob!
Taco is the sponsor, but y’all know which rigger bases are best at 18:45.
We love our TACO gear. This was a loaner boat while Rush's new SeaVee is being finished up.
AOHOOOOOOOOOO IM EXCITED NOW
Us too!
Welcome back guys. Been a hard covid-19 season
Haha. Great to be back!
We got ours after a 3 day daily search in Diego. Was taking a pic and it slipped outta my hands on slid down the deck...about chopped my buddy Matty from Finbomb, toes off!! 3 days, prolly 75 gallons of gas and WAHOOOOOOOOO
That was an EPIC year. We were lucky to boat several and will never forget it.
Did you tie the mono right onto the lure if so how many lbs mono do you use
Yep. A short shot of 200# mono gets more bites than wire for us. With the big lures you rarely get bit off.
I have only caught one wahoo that was only 17#, but I tell you that fish fought like a 40# king..
They are an awesome fish!
Great stuff as always. Now whats biting in Miami is Sailfish
Sounds like you boys have been in them for the last few weeks!
@@LocalKnowledge Lots of angler won a hole lot of money this past weekend. Bite was on fire
What boots is Rush wearing? they look comfortable and the right height.
I think those are the old simms boots.
Awesome guys. So glad y'all are back for Season 6!!!! Hook em Up!!
So are we!
Loved that Wahoo at the end. My favorite fish to catch. Don’t own a boat so I only see them when I’m invited. What’s that Nomad lure you caught it on please at the end? I just got started at 34 years old and I’m trying to build my fishing tool kit. Well edited videos. Love the content.
That was a Nomad MadScad 190. They are killer when ran way, way back. Best of luck!
Yeah!!!! Season 6 is here!!
Stoked!
We are back baby.
Yaaaaaasssssssss!
I’ve worked so hard to get to a point in my life to be able to fish when I want! I’m so close
Glad you enjoyed!
My favorite episode to date! was that a mono leader
?
Thanks! there was a little shot of wire on there.
@@LocalKnowledge thanks!
Was that just a straight fluoro leader? Didn’t see any wire on there. If so, how’d you rig it? Great episode!
With the bigger Nomads you can run a heavy mono leader and not have to worry (too much) about bite offs. The lures are so big they can't get to the leader.
What hook are you using for the shallow water fishing?
Jigheads
Mustad Jigheads and demon circle hooks.
Ryan
yeah, RYAN!
What size reels were you using for the wahoo? Loved the episode.
We usually pull the big Nomads using our International 20 and 30 VISXs. You need the added drag pressure to troll at 9-12 mph.
He's right, you don't "pump", you could but most people drop the line so fast they make slack, rather than keeping the bend in the rod as they SLOWLY drop the rod. Best is to just winch em slowly and carefully after that first blistering run. These are not tuna, they don't have that much wind, the firs run in unreal, then they run out of steam. They keep the boat in gear to keep the line tight, head thrusts at the last minute can tear em off.
This is true of any fish. No swing, no pump. Keep pressure. Make tacos. :)
@@LocalKnowledge No pumping, ever? Not sure most people could agree with that. Just use the reel as a winch--don't think so, that would defeat the purpose of the rod.
@@jimquantic Lifting, yes. Pumping like you're trying to get unsagged from the bottom, no.
@@LocalKnowledge I love not being able to use my arms after pumping up a big yellowtail or tuna...
WE BACK
YEZZIR!
What was the bottom fishing set up? Rod and reel?
A few different ones were used. Most the new smaller reels like the Fathom Low Pro 400s and 300s. Also used the new Fathom 8 star drag and Fathom 10. Check them out at www.pennfishing.com
They talk about how dangerous they are, then show em with shorts and sandals
It's hot as hell down there. Slickers and boots aren't an option.
Yo why was that reel on free spool?
When the wahoo hit? Wasn't on freespool, just light drag. If the drag is too heavy the hooks/lure just get yanked out of the fish's mouth on the strike. Need to have some forgiveness/stretch via a light drag and mono or fluorocarbon leader, that way they can strike, turn, and you have a better chance at getting a proper hookset.
@@DiabetoDan thanks mate, yeah sorry i meant light drag. But by the looks of it seemed too light of a drag.
@@maum2759 if you're trolling in open water, not much harm in having super light drag and letting the fish run. You can always tighten it as needed. Going too tight risks you losing the fish, so light is a better option than heavy drag. Not a universal rule obviously, if you were fishing near heavy structure you'd want to go with a heavy drag to prevent the fish running in and breaking you off.
Different strokes for different folks i guess, i like 20 lbs of drag for hoos. They have a super hard mouth and i find i lose a lot of fish with lighter drag because i never get a hookset
@@sickbugz you'd likely know better than me, I don't do much wahoo fishing at all. Just going by what I do for kingfish trolling.
