I'll never understand some fans' obsession with exclusivity, surely if you want a new thing from lego (whether it's a piece in a new colour, a new piece, a new print, a new minifig), you'd want as many ways as possible to get it? Isn't exclusivity only going to drive up a set's price, both now and on the aftermarket?
One of my biggest mistakes ever was like in 2007 going to Toys R Us and my mom offering to buy me one of these lego batman sets but I said no because at the time I wasnt that into Batman and preferred the lego star wars sets following Revenge of the Sith. Then in like 2008 and 09 when I did get into lego Batman, I could never find anyone of these sets in stores
Idk if you knew this, but the reason the blue batsuit's bat symbol is so large along with the utility belt is because it's based on The Dark Knight Returns. All minifigs are based on a batsuit from Batman's history: Grey- Batman The Animated Series/New Batman Adventures Black- Batman 89 Dark Grey- Batman Begins/The Dark Knight Blue- The Dark Knight Returns This is also my favorite series line, and I was only 5 when the set line unfortunately ended. I really wish they weren't so expensive or that they'd re-release this line again, because the more adult and gothic character designs and builds are what make this line better than any new LEGO Batman set. And I actually was introduced to LEGO through the first LEGO Batman game, which remains my favorite to this day
None of the Batman mini figures aside from the Dark Knight sets were movie or animation inspired. The gray suit with blue helmet was inspired by Jim Lee's art, the black and gray suit was inspired by the current look in the comics of 2006 and the black suit was inspired by the look of the comics in 1995-2000 when the character was wearing a completely black suit.
That No.1 set is so damn nostalgia for me. Not because I owned it, because I didn't, but because of Forestfire101's video. That giant computer screen is burnt into my mind and I'm glad that it is.
These sets were amazing. I think the reason these sets were so good is because they were cheap, not flashy and had consistent color tones, and just an icon and simple designs.
I’ve owned three of these sets. The penguin set (my favorite) tumbler and theHarley set. I have huge nostalgia for the minifigures because of the video game
I think LEGO nailed the 2006-2008 Batman sets. I think they are some of the best. Unfortunately I don’t own any of these 2006-2008 sets but I’m happy i own the Black Suit Batman, Harley Quinn, Two-face, Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman and Mr. Freeze and some goons from 2006-2008 at least. In my opinion, LEGO nailed the mini figures of of those sets as well. I personally think they are the best. Hell the videogame was also amazing, personally my all time favourite LEGO game.
Thanks for the vid brother, I'm an '06 and definitly remember building these sets as a little kid. Still have some of the minifigs. Sucks that these sets are very expensive nowadays because of their rarity and just perfection.
Dude these sets are easily one of the greatest waves of LEGO in general and I’m super nostalgic for cause of the lego Batman game which had most of the builds in it
1. Batcave (my first Lego batman set) 2. Arkham asylum (I own this one) 3. Joker's Ice cream surprise 4. Batmobile ( I own this one) 5. Bat tank ( I own this one) 6. Batwing 7. Batcopter ( I only have the scarecrow build) 8. Hammer truck 9. Robin's scuba jet ( I only have the Robin build) 10. Bat boat 11. Batman's buggy 12. Bat dragster
I was born in 2006 so I remember in 2010 and 11 when I got lego Batman the video game I saw these sets on the manual and they looked so fun I’m currently 15 and really wish I had all of them but the tumbler jokers ice cream I still want to this day and close second is the Harley Quinn Bat bike those sets look so dark knight down to earth but have other aspects of the villains at the same time I really hope one day I get them
These sets always have a special meaning to me they were what introduced me to the world of Batman it was how I discovered all the villains and vehicles. I only had the Batmobile set and the batwing set but I lost them when I moved and to this day I miss them so much. I had all the 2012 sets but the ‘06 sets were the best imo
The Scarecrow biplane and Batcopter was my favorite set as a kid. I still have the plane sitting in a drawer somewhere. Sadly, I lost the Scarecrow and blue Batman figures, which is a goddamn shame. The Batman design is great, based off of Dark Knight Returns, with the big logo and belt pouches.
Ah yes the nostalgia, pretty much this entire line was some of my first venture into non duplo legos. Pretty much all of these sets are pleasing in their own merits, my favorites being the bat mobile, bat wing and penguin submarine
12:35 Well if you have the mini fig, replace the blue with the black short Cowl, Hands and Cape while replacing the normal legs with the dual moulded ones and it've look like the Dark Knight Returns.
I wasn’t old enough to buy these sets cuz they came out on the year I was born. Now that I’m older I’m planning to buy them eventually. All the sets and figures are just sick.
i was 3 years old in 2008 and when i was 6 i got Lego Batman the videogame for PS2 and ever since then ive wanted theese sets i remember watching forestfire101's videos and i didnt even know english at the time, and i used to ask my mother and show her pictures of theese sets and she couldnt find them cause they where retired, sucks that theese sets are so expensive :(

Really great sets all across, and I still hope I can get the bat tank one day.
God all these sets are sooooo fucking iconic. I remember as a kid I tried to get them all. Even after the series was discontinued I begged my mom to get me then used on ebay. Never got them all tho.
despite being ranked lower on the list, i loved the smaller sets from this theme- as a kid from a low income family i really appreciated these more accessible sets. i was lucky to get two copies of the catwoman set and cobble together a batmobile of sorts with the dragster pieces. i sincerely disagree that lack of exclusivity takes away from the appeal of a figure- if i were in charge i’d get rid of exclusive figures as much as possible so every kid could get most if not all with ease. XD
I am proud to say that I own ALL of these sets. I got them second hand years ago and even then I paid a lot for them. Some.of them I had to piece back together through Pick a Brick and eBay but they are complete now. They are the pride of my Lego collection.

The Lego batman movie sets were actually pretty good but I still prefer the classics as well.
The 2021 Tumbler set with Scarecrow is pretty good. ^_^
The fact that the Dragster set was $10 is astonishing today. It’d at least be double price… I miss when Lego had reasonable prices.

The Lego Batcave is the Batman equivalent of the Lego Death Star. The impossible to afford collector's item that EVERYONE wanted.
