Charting is a great contraceptive for me personally. I was having such a hard time with hormonal contraception and really not ready to add to my family yet. I use Billings method and it's working out awesome. 2.5 yrs and no pregnancy yet. Just wanted to add that it's not just for woman wanting to become pregnant 😊
I am in my late 50's and I was amazed at the information you shared. Thank-you very much for sharing with other women. I wish you were around when I was young. But I definitely recommending you to child-bearing ladies. Nothing negative here ! Thank-you, Thank-you again.
I like the way you speak of femininity, reproduction and the fact that we must know our own body and take control. You explain things in a simple and very clear way and it's understandable to everyone. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Unfortunately, I am pass my reproductive stage. I had to have a hysterectomy. But I would like to thank you for how passionate you are & thorough on whatever you do or talk about. You are truly a breath of fresh air. If I could meet only one person...........movie stars, singers, president etc..... I would choose YOU!!! I love your channel!!!
***** You have your opinion and I have mine. Together we make up the world in our own ways. I, personally, don't find Jen selfish. Her spending reminds me of my own, that's not to say that I don't donate and help out the world in other ways as well. (As she does too.) She helps me find products I like which in turn creates jobs because if we didn't buy the products the jobs would go away. But thank you for your input.
+Hunter Collins I am just now seeing all of your comments. How sweet & thank you!!! I'm not sure what Jane Smith or whatever their name was said. I didn't see it. But if they remarked on Jen's spending that's her & Don's business none of mine. I totally agree that she shares products & that helps me to find things that I might not would have ever heard of. And she's extremely thorough & passionate. I like that!!! If she talks about a bar of soap then by golly she tells you everything about that soap, ingredients, links the sites to find it etc.....I like someone who does something the right way not half heartedly. Jen, in my opinion only puts her heart into whatever she does & she studies it, chews it, & digests it. Ok, I'll hush I'm rambling, but thanks for being so kind Hunter. Hope you have a great week!!!
I know a lot of young girls watch your videos and I think it's great that you are openly talking about the female body and the importance of being knowledgeable about your own. So often we get comments like, 'Ew, gross, don't talk about that, that's not something you share' but that type of talk just encourages women to think of these things as shameful, and they aren't. The more we talk the more we can learn from each other.
I was one of the people who requested this vid and I wasn't sure if you'd be willing to make it. But you're so detailed and as you said NFP just isn't something that is taught thoroughly enough. And for us girls who have lost our mothers we really do need an extra resource. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you Jen!
Kudos to you for being open about what it means to be an empowered woman! I'm so glad you posted this as it benefits me, and others, to hear about this sort of thing. Even if you aren't an expert, your impact is through discussion and making this sort of thing "normal" to talk about. Thank you!!!
+Pretty Neat Living There are several factors in becoming pregnant. One resource I discovered which succeeds in merging these is the Bevs Baby Boom (google it if you're interested) definately the most useful resource that I've seen. look at all the amazing information .
Thank you so much for this video Jen. I'm not trying to have children at the moment. However, knowing your body is so important, all of it, and I'm guilty of just giving my period and cycle for granted, I know nothing about it really. I'm going to start charting for sure!
Hi Jen, I'm an RN, I specialsed in obstetrics and gynaeclogy for many years, and I just have to tell you, this video was EXCELLENT, well done. I could not have put it any better, and you are so right, we as woman, should know our own bodies better than anyone else. Incidentally pregnacy suits you so well, you look healthy and very happy xxx
bobbyandsammysmum Hi Jen, I am also an RN (retired) who specialized in Obs and Gyn. As a nurse who works in this field a good part of the job involves teaching your female patients. You did an excellent job in presenting this information! Well done Jen! I found in my nursing practise that a large number of women did not understand how their bodies worked, and this presentation will help them immensely. Thank you Judy.
Thanks for sharing this, Jen! I went through this all about 13 years ago (7 yrs TTC, now have a 6 year old). I found everything so fascinating and wanted to share the information with all the women in my life! I actually was able to find out I never (or rarely) ovulated and that was why I would go 6+ months without a period. I was able to take my charts to a specialist and she helped me with the best course to get pregnant. It took only 3 cycles after that to get pregnant. I love your channel and wish all the best for you! Thanks again ❤️❤️
I have absolutely no desire to have kids again, and don't get periods anymore. But I STILL watched this because its soothing to watch you talk, Jen. Lol.
This is such an awesome video! I have just decided to stop the pill and use FAM for non-hormonal birth control and I really appreciated the amount of detail and candor you applied to this video. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for making this video. Thanks to you, by charting my husband and I were able to conceive on cycle #3! Plotting my temperature made it so easy and clear to figure out my fertile days. I just used a regular thermometer. It made getting pregnant so much less stressful! I didn't even have to buy ovulation test strips. Thank you again.
This video is SO great. I am someone who is JUST starting TTC but I KNOW that because I have PCOS among a bunch of other things it is not going to be easy. I have ben SO overwhelmed by all of the information regarding charting, all the acronyms, and just everything... it has been crazy trying to research it and my head is spinning. This video is such a great starting point and I am so thankful to you for putting yourself out there to help explain this process to us new people in such a direct and concise fashion. Thank you so, so, so much
Jen, thank you so much for this video. I am done having kids but I truly believe women need to understand and be comfortable with our bodies. Yhe way you spoke was direct and to the point and very informative.
Loved your video ! Thank you for sharing your experience. I am charting now almost 5 years, last two of which are TTC charting. It is great to see that self awareness of fertility health is gaing popularity. Charting is such a powerfull tool to get to know yourself and to regain control over your overall health. Would recomend it to every woman :)
I want to thank you very much for posting this. I have been charting everything but BBT for about 4 years now. I started TTC this last year. I also had some reproductive "issues" that i needed to work out before i could consider carrying a baby. I am so happy to finally be in that place where i feel comfortable enough to have a baby. I only started charting BBT last month, so watching this video helped with some of those things that are new to me. Its a big deal to me to even be posting this on here right now, as I am not very socially open about what I've gone through to be where I am now, so thank you for lending a little strength to me for feeling a little less awkward about it. Also, Congratulations! I am so happy for you and Don, I know beyond a doubt that you will be the most loving, caring, and wonderful parents.
beautiful, informative video. Thank you for sharing! you are so right, what they teach you in school is not always the case. it is a tough/uncomfortable subject to talk about, but you did a lovely job :) wishing you a happy healthy pregnancy and delivery! xoxo
I'm so glad you did this! A lot of women don't know about their bodies and even with myself I had some knowledge but I've definitely learned more from this video.
Thank you for posting this! What a wonderful source of information. I used OPK's to conceive and honestly the cost and stress could have all been avoided if I had known this was an option! I will definitely keep this in mind for prevention after baby arrives!
Jen, I really want to thank you for posting this video. At ages 41 & 42, my husband and I have pretty much given up on having children, but after watching this, I ordered the first book and a thermometer. I've always been an "if it happens, it happens" person, and without getting into TOO much detail and TMI, I have some issues. I feel like it's always been a failing crap shoot! I've never been a tracker (except for the start/end dates), so this will be something to get used to. Thank you!!
It's my understanding that schools don't teach charting because they're afraid to show a form of contraception that doesn't protect against STIs or could allow more errors than simply taking a pill. It's a legitimate reason but a shame because we still miss out on information on how our bodies work.
The practice of charting is completely new and very interesting concept to me; I appreciate your insight and information! Incorporating this practice into my routine would be beneficial for me personally as I believe my cycle is triggering headaches as I get older and charting would definitely allow me to visualize what's going on. Thanks for the info, Jen. PS Glad to see Utah put you in the mood for some tea ;)
Very detailed and informative, like everything you contribute to the YT world. I am sure this information will help a lot of women, I know it was a little embarrassing for you to talk about but these things need to be discussed. Great Job Jen
Well done Jen. I am way past charting my fertility, but no matter what age, a woman needs to know about her own body; how it works and when things just aren't right. I have heard you say on many occasions, that you are a very private person, but you made a wonderful job of explaining both the charting and the body checking process. You were clear and concise with sufficient information to prompt subscribers to do more research if this interests/ impacts them. Karen x
Karen E There are things that I think are important to keep private, but this kind of general health information seemed like a good thing to share so I went for it :)
Jen this was such a great video. It's obvious you've been using this method and didn't just read a book and tell us about it. You always explain things well and make it easy to understand. I really enjoy your long videos. Others might be embarrassed to make such a video but you were so mature while still keeping it light hearted. The best part for me is that you could show the chart for when you conceived. I think that's amazing. Thank you for sharing such personal information Jen.
Great advice Jen. I never charted but will start monitoring. It makes so much sense to track these things and contributes to peace of mind when you're TTC.
Thank you so much for sharing!!! I was waiting on my cycle to even out before charting but I am so happy to know that you started and your cycle changed later on. It's great to have women on RUclips talking honestly about bodies!
I only just heard about this method and this video was so helpful! I'm leaning further and further away from the pill and closer and closer to charting. Thanks so much for this!
I agree, this should be taught in more detail health class.I got my degree in biology in college. I learned about the phases of the menstrual cycle in an human physiology class.
Jen I'm super proud of you for doing this video! It shows how much more confident you are now. I don't know that would have done something like this a few years ago. Great job!
thank you for this video. the hubby and I decided that we wanted to start trying for a baby and I had no clue where to start. thanks again I love all your videos.
This is so interesting! I am going to start charting, not only for when I want a baby, but because I can learn about how my body works and it can be a good contraceptive as well..
Jen, this way a great video! Thank you for opening up and sharing with all of us (we know its not easy!) Really appreciate it! You're going to be an amazing mom!
I think you did a great job of explaining this stuff and I totally agree that it's so important for girls to understand how their bodies work. You're going to do a great job of passing this information on to your daughter!
Yes! Glad you made this video. Never to late to learn more and your wealth of knowledge & insight to different aspects is great. What a wonderful virtual friend you are. Every video is so meaningful
THANK YOU! This video is so informative. I read Taking Charge of your Fertility and started charting.. It doesn't look like I am ovulating and I seem to have an abnormal menstrual flow - I am happy to know this information so that I can share with my doctor and be ready to make a baby soon! I am staying positive for now until I find out what is going on. I LOVED reading about anovulation and the possible causes and fixes (for lack of a better word). Like you said at the beginning - I wish this was taught at an early age! I will certainly be passing this on if I have a girl... WHEN I get pregnant (not if!) 😍 Congratulations, again on your little bundle and I hope that you are feeling great!
Jen, this is by far the BEST resource I have found thus far describing how to chart and fertility. I've been keeping track of these things in my journal for about a month now, because my husband and I are ttc, but I never knew there were such fantastic books and legitimate charts to make it so much clearer than my journal entries. I've also been using the app Ovia, but I, like you, prefer to write things down. Again, thank you for this! I'm about to go order those books! Xoxo
Thanks for sharing! While I do not want children right now, I know I definitely do want children in the future. I have endometriosis, so it scares me with fertility issues. However, when the time is right to try I feel that charting will be the way to go! Thanks for sharing, Jen!
You did a great job explaining all that. I wasn't sure I would be interested in watching this video but I actually got into it and it was fun to watch!
Charted back in the 80's. After two beautiful wonderful girls I used it to increase the chances of having a boy. Used the chart to predict exact ovulation day guided by a book that helped you increase your chance of either gender . He turns 25 in a week!!
InBrighton WithLill It's not for sure but there are things to do to increase chances. The dad has to do some things too like wear boxers and you have to wait til ovulation day and even drink caffeine on day. ha ha
Actually, it's because sperm that contains girl DNA can live longer in the body than sperm that contains boy DNA. Just by knowing this, you can help steer the direction of the gender in the way you want.
Thank you so much for sharing! I've just started charting and I was scared I didn't know what I was doing. Now I'm more confident! Also thank you so much for the book recommendations! I've been reading online but we all know how that can turn into wrong information. Congratulations again on your baby girl! I'm so excited to see your transition into motherhood! Best wishes!
I used charting on fertilityfriend.com since 2005. From there I learned not to test till I made it to at least 16 dpo. I still was in denial at 31 days dpo when I was finally pregnant and staying pregnant after 11 years. I am so excited for you Jen!!!
Great video, Jen! I love Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It's crazy how much we as women don't learn about our bodies growing up. Thank you for sharing your preconception journey with us. My husband and I have been TTC since May 2014 and hearing success stories gives me hope! xo
Thank you so much for putting all of this together and sharing! I know it could probably be weird to get so *personal* on camera but thank you for doing it anyway! I really appreciate this "sister to sister" type of conversation and definitely believe this should be taught to all women in school.
I love how thorough you are when explaining, you're videos are great to watch and I find I watch the whole thing without getting distracted! Anyone looking for a good tracking app I would highly recommend Clue- period tracker! I use it to track my period and to remind me to take my pill but there are so many things you can track and view, plus it's free.
Thank you so much for making this video. I like that your videos (and even more so your coordinating blog posts) are always so detailed and informative. This topic can be very personal, but I really appreciate your willingness to share. I have contemplated charting for a while, but didn't know much about it. You have inspired me to go learn more and start the charting process.
such a good idea for a video, I've had three kids already but with my hormones allover the place lately I need to start doing this again just to track my health. Also started using Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture after watching your vids to help with this and she helped discover a lot of the causes so thanks for sharing some of your life, it's helped my health already!
Great video Jen! Next May I will be getting the IUD taken out and was going to start charting. This was so informative! Thank you so much for doing this video.
Thank you so much! I appreciate this video so much, it has answered so many of my questions. Just starting the FAM and you have made me understand this so much better especially after reading taking charge of your fertility I learned so much that it was almost all jumbled so this video made everything so clear! Thank you
You are amazing. Jen, thank you for sharing videos like this. You're such a sweet person for helping those in need. I thought that this video was very well thought out and informative. I'm honestly not planning on having anymore children but I know that this will be a huge help to those that are trying to conceive. Bravo to you for another awesome video. XO
Loved this video!!! Super helpful!!! Trying really hard to get preggo for 3 yrs and I'm sure this will help alotttttt!!!! You are the best!!! Best wishes for you and your mini me!!! 😘🎁💁🏼
This was a really nice thing for you to do. Thanks so much for sharing your charts and walking us through the basics. I know you say your not an expert but the way you explained this was so professional and easy going. The way you present things to your viewers is always so pleasant. I found this video to be vary informative.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I'm sure it wasn't easy to share such personal information, but it was really informative and helpful! So excited about baby Ross on the way!
Jen, this is one of the best videos I have ever watched on youtube, thank you! It is so informative and thorough that I think it was highly motivating for all of us women to care about our essence. I will read the books you suggested, thank you again and please keep up thr great work.
This video was right on time b/c I just started charting today :-) Will definitely be purchasing one of the books you mentioned. As always, thanks for sharing Jen!
I LOVE that this is a longer video on this, most are 4-5 mins and so vague, thanks for making this!
Rebecca Sankey For sure! I only wish I had known about it even in my teens so I could learn more about my health and body.

Ashley Robbin It would be wonderful if schools could teach it all and promote safe sex at the same time. Maybe someday!
My school only taught about abstinence and healthy relationships. No form of STI protection.
They should at least teach this in biology if not sex Ed

Such an important topic. Thank you for being so candid about your pregnancy and journey. You are so lovely.
You really did a good job in explaining this. I had no clue how to chart. Thanks!
WHEN I get pregnant (not if!) 😍
Congratulations, again on your little bundle and I hope that you are feeling great!
Thank you for sharing! Not trying to conceive, but curious for when the time comes. Thanks again for the info!
Wow that's impressive I never knew you could track genders as well. Mind blown! Loved your story I had to reply. Blessings to you & family :D
InBrighton WithLill women have two X chromosomes and men have an X and a Y, so the sperm dictates the gender of the child.

It's not for sure but there are things to do to increase chances.
Great job explaining this! I have dabbled in charting myself and couldn't have explained it any better. Congratulations to you and Don!!! 💖🎉🎀
My husband and I have been TTC since May 2014 and hearing success stories gives me hope! xo
If Marni Could Talk | Christy Wishing you all the best on your journey!
Thank you so much for putting all of this together and sharing! I know it could probably be weird to get so *personal* on camera but thank you for doing it anyway! I really appreciate this "sister to sister" type of conversation and definitely believe this should be taught to all women in school.
Thank you! We are ttc and this video was very helpful.
I feel like I should already know this stuff at my age, but I don't. Thanks for sharing!
This was so so interesting!! Thank you so much for being so honest about this, not enough people are and it's so helpful!
Thank you! You have no idea how helpful this was.
such a good idea for a video, I've had three kids already but with my hormones allover the place lately I need to start doing this again just to track my health.
This video was fantastic--organized and well articulated! Thank you so much!
Very informative and very helpful thank you Jennifer
Very good, frank, informative video. You made charting very approachable. You know your stuff even though you are not a "pro". Thank you, Jen!
