INGREDIENTS
- 16 oz dried pinto beans
- water to cover
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 1 cup ketchup (sugar-free preferred)
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp prepared yellow mustard
- 2 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp hot sauce (like sriracha)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Soak the beans. Add the beans to a large bowl (or the slow cooker), and add enough water to cover the beans by two inches. Place the bowl in the refrigerator and soak the beans for 6-8 hours.
- Cook the beans. Drain the soaking liquid. Add the beans to a 4-6 quart slow-cooker and cover the beans with two inches of water. Set the cooker to high and cook until the beans are tender, 3-4 hours. If using the low setting, the beans will take 4-5 hours.
- Prepare the sauce. Drain the beans and return them to the slow cooker. Add the diced onion, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, red wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, prepared mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and hot sauce. Stir to combine.
Cook the beans. Stirring occasionally until the sauce is thickened slightly, cook for 2-3 hours on high or 3-4 hours on low.

From my farm to your home. 🏡
My name is Kaleb Wyse and here, you will find delicious recipes, videos from my farm, garden, and fun home projects. My knowledge has been earned from years of home cooks and farmers in my family. wyseguide.com
A farm is much more than a house to live in; it’s a lifestyle. My passion for gardening and landscaping came from outdoor work with my mom in our expansive farm yard, my love for baking came from innumerable short walks to my grandma’s house to make cookies, and as a farmer, my dad taught me that we are the stewards of our land.
So whether you live in a city center or have decided rural life is for you, I hope to inspire you with the projects and recipes I use in daily life. We can’t all live on a farm, but we all need farms in our lives. From the dirt in my vegetable garden to the flour in my kitchen, I’ll show you everything I love to do. Хобби
Ok so...............why is the crock pot so gorgeous??? I need one of those.
Me: I MUST have that crockpot Still can't find it. Oh.
Happy Memorial Day . Remember the people that gave us this freedom today and all the family members that are left behind. We are truly a blessed country even with all the problems that we have.
I use dry navy beans to make baked beans in the crockpot. They come out great and freeze well
The kindest soul. I love your videos Kaleb!!
This recipe is great. Being from Vermont we use real maple syrup to sweeten many dishes. So we substituted dark maple syrup for the molasses in this recipe and we get that unmistakable maple flavor added to the mix.
I agree. Dried veins are the way to go. I mske mine pretty much like you, but I add crumbled crisp fried bacon on the top right before serving.
* beans
Just made these beans first time baking beans ever and chose this recipe to try. We had them with our Canada Day dinner and they were good. They weren't as "saucy" as we like beans the sauce was really really thick. I think next time I make them i'll add a little broth or water to them just a little to make the sauce thinner and less brown sugar they were a tad sweeter then I like. I didn't put in hot sauce i'm not a fan of hot spice at all. I soaked my Pinto beans over night perhaps I soaked them to long and that's why the sauce was to thick? Either way they are really good and I'd make them again just with less sweetness. Thank you for sharing such a great recipe, I watch all your recipes and I appreciate you sharing them so much!!
I’ve made quite a few of your recipes and everyone has been delicious. I want to try this one.
And it's vegan friendly! I'm always looking for tasty vegan items to sneak in
Looks great--love BB! Love these are pork free as I have a family history of Cancer so need to avoid all the pesticides stored in animal fat. Thank you so much for sharing

This looks delicious and will go great with hot dogs thank you Kaleb.
I’ve been on the hunt for a crockpot. I love the white insert that crockpot is absolutely beautiful. I am making baked beans today. I always do canned beans and doctor them up with ketchup, onions, mustard, brown sugar, and bacon on top today I added a few of the ingredients you used in your crockpot next time I will try and use a crockpot recipe because I will have a crockpot then, all I have right now is an Insta pot. Not sure how to modify that.
Early congrats on 400k subs!
I don’t have a crockpot kaleb but these sound delicious 😊❤️

I love your recipes! Everything we've made of yours has turned out great. This one looks delicious and very smart to use the dried beans. Thank you! PS Could you post a link to that fab' crock pot?
I giggled when u said clean water! I love u so much!!! Ty for sharing! Love my crockpot❤❤❤
😊
Smell-O-Vision was already invented in the 1950s. The biggest problem (aside from the smells being a bit of a distraction) was that once you release a scent into the air, it will tend to linger, which isn’t necessarily desirable if your goal is a progression of smells. That’s why it never caught on. A cookbook with scratch’n’sniff stickers, though? Potentially not a horrible idea.
That's so interesting. Thanks for sharing 😊
🥓 BACON!!!!
Crazy question but could you waterbath can this for self stable baked beans year round? If so what would those steps be??
You’re adorable and I love your recipes!! Learning so much from you and it’s so fun to put love into my dishes! Thank you! I needed this recipe today! But…how come no bacon 🥓?? I live in the south so maybe it’s a southern thing ;) Anyway, AWESOME recipe!! Got beans soaking now!
Thank you & I appreciate that very much👍
Seriously where can you buy that crockpot?!
Hey Caleb...how has your weather been? Hearing horror stories about Iowa weather. Beans sound comforting if indeed your having some inclement weather.
additions: green pepper and bacon
I have a crock pot. I have all the ingredients. Why did I buy canned beans? I have clean water too. I'm making these tomorrow. Thank you Kaleb for another great recipe that isn't hard. Anna from Arkansas.
What brand of crockpot did you use? Printing out the recipe right now.
All Clad 5 quart cooker at William’s Sonoma 300 bucks 👍
@@phillipsmom6252 Thank you
@@sandrahartley3461 👍😀
@@phillipsmom6252why you got to be an asshole?
🥰✅👍
Where is the pieces of bacon?
Sliced weiners and a dollop of sour cream would send those beans over the top.
I’m sure it tastes wonderful but I like my baked beans a bit more saucy…
These look a bit dry to me.
