To all the people complaining about 480p I say why don't you go buy the box set and watch it? This person has the rights to the series and has put it here for the world to enjoy just be grateful geez. Thankyou to the channel I love mythbusters and although you could have signed a deal with a streaming service to have mythbusters paid for and make some money from it you have it here for everybody to enjoy.....keep up the good work
I didn't even notice until I read your reply. I knew the picture could have been better, but I just figured "oh it must have been recorded before they shifted to HD".
Ever see that meme where someone takes a picture of a steering wheel covered in rhinestones and captions it, "congratulations, you made a claymore"? I wish that meme had been around when Mythbusters was still on so they could test it like the lockpick.
They probably called it that so people dont get any leads onto what it actually is from the show at least. Kinda not great to be like "hey heres this thing to break into cars, its called a slim jim, lets watch a pro use one". They often do that for explosive/chemical reactions such as redacting what piranha solution is in one episode while still showing the reaction. Not to say its impossible to figure out what it is, but best to put at least some road blocks in the way at least
Slim Jim is, annoyingly, a trademarked name. They probably didn't want to risk having to deal with Macho Mans former employers. Remember Adam talked about one myth involving Brylcreem and they had permission to use the actual name but at the last moment the company changed their mind. Adam, Jamie, and the Narrator all had to go through and redub every single use of "Brylcreem" to "hair cream" before the episode could air.
The mechanic guy working on the airbag one needs a raise 😂 it was one of those well you didn't ask things when they said you knew the airbag wasnt in the door😂
the "slim-jim" air bag myth is IIRC based on reports from scandanavia, where a cop was helping someone whod accidentally locked their keys in their volvo (pretty sure thats what they said it was) and he did accidentally trigger the SRS bag, and it shot the metal band back up out of the door and into him. i dont remember how it all circulated (this was well before Mythbusters started, internet was still very young), but i do know that after that time, a lot of police departments around the world stopped helping people pop their doors open and said to just call a proper locksmith.
Is there some kind of disease that makes people see 480p as a 8x12 pixel grid or something? Its perfectly viewable folks. You can tell what everything is. Stop your whining.
I bet if they had used actual draft horses and a proper pulling rig, they could easily pop those bars. There were draft horses on the frontier so in wouldn't be historically inaccurate.
Not coming out of crossties anyway unless they are really rotten. I just cant believe they didn't put something between Jaime and that rope. That can pop and slingshot back right at his head....not a myth.
OH man, I never the life-cast of Jamie being made! That said, I do appreciate them including the failures to show that it happens to the best of modelmakers. 6:11 is the peak of Jamie, being Jamie.
I was disappointed that we didn't get a Jamie mold. It seems like Adam's process was more rushed while Tory took his time with his earlier mold of Grant. Maybe the material used for Tory's mold was different.
there is a different way to open a car, local fire brigade uses air cushions to open a gap at the door, then try to unlock the door from the inside. such a method might actually interact with the airbag and accelerate your tools. but there is no reasonable way to set it off on a modern car, idk about older ones with less sophisticated sensors and faulty electronics, but still highly unlikely.
Everybody needs to like comment and subscribe on these full length episodes so they see that they were really enjoyed and they upload more full episodes! Do it!
I always enjoyed how Angel eyes ( Lee Van Cleef) shoots Blondies ( Clint Eastwood) hat into the air and keeps it up there by shooting it again!! And when the hat falls it makes a whistle noise.. HAAA..pexz
The most believable cowboy movie jailbreak involved an entire herd of cows tied to the bars and spooked into a stampede. It was a practical effect and those cows pulled the wall right off the building.
The only thing I'm disappointed about is they should have tried to pull the bars out 1 at a time. Would have been much easier then trying to pull the hole load at once.
They were using cross ties, of course they're not going to break. All of their drawings and all the TV and movie jail breaks I've seen have always been either stone or brick or some other type of masonry. I've never seen any using the cross tie material they were using. *_Okay guys, time to team up again and revisit this myth. Lets go, chop chop._* Also, despite what a few cry babies think the quality of these videos is great, keep it up I love MythBusters.
"Now it's over to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. I'll let you decide who's who." That's actually incredibly easy. Kari is "The Good" as she is indisputably the most...uhh...MORE wholesome of the trio. Grant is without a doubt "The Bad" with all his mad scientist tendencies. And sorry to say, poor Tory is "The Ugly" only because he's usually the one getting hurt in the ugliest of ways. Although often times of his own doing. 😅
"Jaymie takes a seat on the casting couch" 🤔💀 I can't tell if the narrator knew what he was saying or if the narration writer knew what they were saying and what "casting couch" is lmfao 💀💀💀
Wish they would've tried Jackie Chans move in Shanghai Noon where they use a shirt around two bars with a chair's leg to twist the shirt causing the bars to bend together and then using their wee on the shirt to make it easier. Eventually the bars are bent enough where Jackie Chan can fit between them
I would have put the dummy up against the window wall. Directly under the blast, having the wall blockIng the blast directed at me. That is also where instinctively I’d of hid. Doesn’t make sense to be directly in the line of sight. Myth not busted again
6:19 it's really fun to see their """"hatred""" (I know that's a dramatic way to simplify them) for each other grow into a very professional respect and weird work friendship form
I mean I would have been frustrated if I had to get a body cast done and then it all goes to crap... I mean Adam did have a history of racing things when it came to doing ballistics gel molds with expected results.
I imagine that a shot goes off, grazes your hat, you're going to be ducking so fast that the hat will fall off. Maybe try testing again with a rig that simulates "ducking" after detecting the trigger pull? With some of the shots knocking the hat askew, I imagine that "ducking" would finish it off.
They go to all the trouble to get "period specific" guns, ammo and hats and then proceed to hold the hat on the bust with a crumpled up piece of paper. I guarantee that detail will affect this particular outcome infinitely more than a slight variation in modern ammo, firearms or hats.
I always thought that the hat myth should've been revisited because those hats were empty, whereas actual cowboys may have kept things in their hat. Teddy Roosevelt was known to keep a spare set of specs in his. To fit them better, you can wrap a handkercheif inside the brim. I know you can do this, Alan Pan.
That would be interesting, particularly something solid enough to transfer a significant amount of energy from the bullet like a steel plate. One of those "taking it beyond the realm of reality for fun" tests.
imagine dying 100 years ago and then your skull ends up on TV having a lockpick shot through it then Kari uses it as a puppet
Idk i dont get this mindset
Shoot my bones out of a cannon for kicks if you want
This is a fetish I didn't know I had
Rewatching these episodes just reminds me of the crazy things they could do on TV back then
Sounds awesome
Well they did donate their bodies to science... I'll see myself out.

The casting couch one got me

Well said. 👏🏻
I hadn't even noticed. Looks just fine on my 43" 4K.
(Nvidia upscaling and noise reduction)
I'm annoyed with those people too, these look great on my 13 year old Sanyo 47" 1080p HDTV.
There’s always whiners on the internet. On YT it’s not too bad but it’s a lot worse on social media though

Man that meme is as old as this show. And back then memes didn't even exist. It was an image macro.
@KandiKlover Dunno, maybe I just didn't see it until I switched careers to fixing cars.
I can never get enough Mythbusters
When that dude said his hat got shot up when it fell on the range... yeah, that's exactly what I'd expect to happen!
Us shotgun guys it’s actually a tradition. if someone shoots their first perfect game in Trap or Skeet their hat is tossed into the air and shot up
Oh man I would have the best day ever just hanging out with that guy and his collection. Beautiful pieces of history.
The first "lockpick" is a slim jim, not a lock pick, it's a bypass tool that pulls on the latch from the inside

Makes me miss Grant Imahara. R.I.P 💖
Problem with pulling the bars out, that's always done with stone and adobe jails, not wood railroad tie jails...
The mechanic guy working on the airbag one needs a raise 😂 it was one of those well you didn't ask things when they said you knew the airbag wasnt in the door😂
In the movie support your local sheriff is one of the funniest break out of jail scenes ever.
That John Wayne clip was from the movie McClintock which is my favorite western. It was like western's version of taming of the shrew.

So many great episodes of Tech Support, but this one is a strong contender for number 1! Great job to everyone involved!

Its also just what the show was recorded and aired at back then. It aint getting better than 480p. Nothing you can do about it
@@Palmtop_UserI mean on the user end you can upscale and what not. But honestly 480p is perfectly serviceable.

It was probably that big ass mustache with all that vasoline that cracked up the mold lmao 🤣
I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen Jamie without a hat on

with the rope at the base those bars won't budge even if they are cut through

I have read on the history channel the most popular hat was the bowler hat
A horse has 15 horse power I'm done 😂
I wish they would have put those stickers all over the walls to see if there is anywhere in the cell that was survivable.

that wasn't a lock pick it was a slim jim which is used to grab the lock rod in the door

They were also using some pretty hefty barstock there. I've seen jails with bars up to half that size.
They actually tried that method in another episode... it didn't work out too well
