It's a beautiful idea always to have water features, That white noise of the water splashing is so relaxing! I have many water features in my yard. and you should let your viewers know in that situation, Evaporation will occur, so they need to keep that basin full of water, or they could damage the pump by dry running it. Or they could cause what is called Cavitation. This damages the pump even more so when it is trying to pump a liquid and air gets into the system. Keep up the great work folks and thanks for all the years of educating your viewership!
When my son was young, he wanted a turtle. So we bought him 2 little turtles from the pet shop. Those turtles grew and grew. So I ended up putting in one of those pre-fab plastic ponds in the backyard. We put in a pump feature like you did for aeration. But one thing people don't think about is that the water gets low due to evaporation and splash out. So I ran a water line to the pond, bought a toilet float and hooked it up to the line, positioning it to where I wanted the water to come on as it got low. Problem solved. It was awesome!
Thanks for the idea! I've been thinking about something like that for my turtle. (Can't leave it in my 90 gal tank outside during the summer anymore. My other one was stolen last summer)
Got a rock fountain as well. Noticed this one splashes just as much, which means you have to refill it after a day or two when it's hot outside. Would have been nice to see them add an auto filling solution to the fountain.
We need the school systems to stop pushing people into going to college, when they don't need it. Going to a tech school is equally great, and far more fulfilling long term for many people!
Don't work in construction, but for a company called Rex Industrial Equipment in Auckland,New Zealand and we're still having supply chain issues with our pre-made caster range we purchase and import from EHI Australia.
My high school is working on building a HVAC program for students to learn the trade. Based in Queens NY, could you recommend any partnerships, facilities planning resources, experts that can help build this program? We really have a chance to build a pipeline of needed skilled people in our society.
Problem is trade wages have barely gone up in most locals in 20 years. If you own the business you make bank but worker wages have not kept up, in most locals.
I'm trying to inspire the HS students I have in my shop classes to work with their hands...they just don't want to put the work/labor into working with their hands. It's been a struggle the last 5-7 years accelerated by the world shut down...now they just want things spoon fed at every step.
It’s hard to get young people to do manual labor when it’s so easy to go online and make money without much effort. Heck, our work force before Covid happened, was super strong. Those same people didn’t reappear after restrictions were lifted. Know we have to pay more for products plus be our own cashier.
Market wages and benefits if you want to get the younger generations on board with the trades. For decades, most people were propagandized to only pursue college degrees. As a result, many people don't know the money you can earn or the work-life balance you could have in a trade career
Wouldn’t it have been a lot easier to just go find a rock the size that they needed…? Instead of wasting a colossal amount of time cutting a huge rock into a little bitty rock…..? 🤷🏽♂️🪨😂🤣😂🤦🏽♂️
@Navy1977 I do believe ancient man has been splitting rocks since the beginning of time. Therefore we wouldn’t be missing out on something we’ve never seen before. lol 😂 Work smarter not harder, is the way I was raised!🤷🏽♂️💯💪🏾🫡

Great fountain
Really love the rocks with water pump. Very good idea.
It would be great to have some links to sources for some of the materials you guys use. Fountain tub and pump for example.
Please add the water basin and pump product names to the description
Bucket has Richard's name on it - lol!!
Young people , WE NEED YOU!
get away from the expensive college and go to trade school, mega bucks and no bank loan
I agree, but don’t forget that it was your generation that forced and brainwashed us all into thinking college and university is the only way to go.
Boomers, we don't want to pay you a living wage.

Call up local hvac companies. Ask for actual workers.
Try the journeyman HVAC shops
Definitely need more young people going into the trades. And more things made in the USA, where possible.

Labor shortages is the problem caused by the companies themselves. Most don't want to pay a living wage.

I wish that you would have a separate channel for Ask This Old House and one for This Old House with different logos?

This extra money Tommy speaks of, that everybody has?
Gas station & the grocery store store seem to get all my extra money. 🤷♂️

2 more people there watching her drill and they can qualify for city work 🤣😂🤣
lol that bit was not long enough to go all the way through that rock. What about electric, its not battery operated.
The amount of slow motion is ruining a great episode
some weird editing here. Super close cuts with slow-mo? Why?
Experimenting.
To deal with the high humidity and prevent my testicles from sticking to my leg I occasionally use baby powder.
Pandemic thing isn't a thing yet...

They use the other half for another project.
@@saulgoodman2018 ahhhh yes 🤔the maximizing of profits…. I’ll admit, I definitely 👍🏾 overlooked that one when composing my original statement.
