I laughed so hard when Wat used his lips to indicate “over there”. In my culture (Native American), there’s running jokes about how we use our lips to point and gesture. “What do you call a native with no lips? Pointless!” 😂 So when I saw Wat do that I couldn’t help laugh and made me realize that we’re all more alike than we realize.

How to overcome cultural differences: A wise woman once said "In the end, everything works out. All those little problems, love is always the answer. And if you love someone, you can get beyond all of these cultural differences. 14:25"

    • @lilydauber3147
      @lilydauber3147 Год назад +4

God crested ONE RACE….pride in human beings created dispersion into different languages and cultures….God’s judgment at the Tower of Babel.
The Dispersion of the Nations at Babel
      11 The whole earth
had a common language and a common vocabulary.
2 When the people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.
3 Then they said to one another, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” (They had brick instead of stone and tar instead of mortar.)
4 Then they said, “Come, let’s build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens so that we may make a name for ourselves. Otherwise we will be scattered across the face of the entire earth.”
5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the people had started building.
6 And the Lord said, “If as one people all sharing a common language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be beyond them.
7 Come, let’s go down and confuse their language so they won’t be able to understand each other.”
8 So the Lord scattered them from there across the face of the entire earth, and they stopped building the city.
9 That is why its name was called Babel-because there the Lord confused the language of the entire world, and from there the Lord scattered them across the face of the entire earth.
      Genesis 11:1-9
Beware: God’s Final Wrath and Judgement is very near. Be ready! The World and Nature End Times Events have converged and heading for Christ’s return to rule.

Lilly, please be careful of little Leon and Lyla. I saw a couple of batteries in Leon's hand. Batteries are poisonous. One child was rushed to the hospital soon after Christmas. My son frightened us when he was 2 or 3 years old. We bought him something for Christmas. Well it was actually Santa and I did tell him off. It was a Crocodile. When we thought that he was playing in his room. We noticed he was quite. I went to his room and crocodile was striped and the little battery [button] was in one of his nostril. I was scared and we rushed him to hospital. When we came back from hospital. I said never again anything that works with battery.

I'm from South East Asia. It's just common courtesy to let your spouse know that you're stepping out for awhile. Not doing so is just bad manners and not a cultural thing. Also, you've been making adjustments in your life to embrace Thai culture; it would be nice if Wat could meet you halfway and embrace your culture too. I remember in my early years of marriage when I wasn't experienced in cooking - my food was near inedible lol, but my spouse ate it anyway because he knew the effort I was putting in to make him happy. Love works both ways. On a separate note, this is one of the better episodes. Well done, Lilly, and God bless.

Lest you think I'm bashing you, Lilly, please know that I am not. As a person of Asian descent, my family and I always make sure we eat our meals together. Before going to bed, we pray together, and we sleep and wake up at approximately the same time, always upholding each other. And as much as I love what you're sharing with us, Lilly, it's heartbreaking that you think you need to adapt to the "thai culture", ie. your perception of it based on your experience with Wat and his family, when in actual fact, that "culture" may not be healthy or kind to your mental well-being. And it upsets me that Wat is not able to see that when we, your audience, can see that you're struggling. My dad comes from a poorer background compared to Wat, and he had less access to education as well. But he read voraciously under candle light (no electricity where he came from!) to improve his knowledge, and when he married someone from a different culture, they both adapted to each other's cultures (and it was a struggle!). Until today, at the age of 80+, my dad never fails to thank my mum for every single meal she cooks for him. Communication is crucial in any relationship. I pray that Wat can be persuaded to see your point of view too, Lilly.

@@em_ma_em I somewhat agree with you. I married a man from another country and culture. We fought those first few years because he was unwilling to adjust to the American culture we lived in. It was his way or the highway. No compromise at all. Finally I was so miserable I was going to separate from him. He began trying to adjust more to my culture and we talked things out and compromised. Our marriage blossomed. We moved to his country 2 years ago and I am learning more about this culture. I can see why he was the way he was. It’s very old school where women are treated more like children and the men are the boss. But my husband and I still do what we did before. We love each other and compromise. We are also both Christians so God is first. We want peace and love so sometimes we don’t get our way but make the sacrifice for our partner. My husband loves his country’s food and I learned how to make some of those dishes BUT I also continue to make the foods I grew up eating. My husband appreciates that I cook even if sometimes it’s not the food from his country.

I was married to a Filipino, we have 2 beautiful adult children. Unfortunately, our marriage did not last. I remember one time we were out with other couples walking around the downtown area and one of my friends made the observation that my husband kept walking ahead of me, did not hold my hand at all. But I pointed out how he was the one walking with our children and I guess I just grew so accustomed to the lack of affection it was just normal to us. I definitely learned a lot from his family, his father taught me how to cook Filipino food so that I could feed our children food from both cultures and my husband actually loved my American cooking. It’s definitely a case of pick your battles. Luke is absolutely adorable he reminds me so much of my son when he was that age . I’m curious as you said you were waiting on your house? What a beautiful humble church you have! Those people are so humble and they know how to worship God! My father was a pastor
And national evangelist and I recall as a child going to healing services and seeing with my very eyes God healing people of cancer and tumors
And raising people from the dead! Because of that, my faith in God is so strong Lily! Hold on to the faith and let God use you! You’re life is your testimony! The closer you draw to God the more the enemy attacks!

I love cilantro, but my American husband who lived in South America for 20 years hates it. He says when they serve food banquet style down there that there's always someone trying to salt, lime or chamoy everything for everyone, instead of leaving it on the side for you to decide at your own plate.
I love to cook (and eat) but it's sometimes a challenge cooking for a new husband with such particular food preferences. He can get pretty worked up about it sometimes, but I just think it's funny. Pick your battles is right, ha ha!

Yes. I totally agreed about staying at one place and do things around the town; especially, when you have small children.
I was totally feeling it for you and your family when you started on your traveling adventures earlier trying to get more subscribers.
It is so hard and exhausting traveling with 3 little youngster with the age of 5 and younger!
My hubby is a Caucasian man and I'm an Asian wife. Yes, it was very difficult during our first few years of our marriage. But we keep our communication open to keep learning about each other. Our married life is no different than any other couples; you just keep the 5 top rules as a priority in your marriage. Such as, trust, respect, commitment, forgiveness/grace and unconditional love for one another.
The one big difference about my marriage and my sister and brother-in-laws is that, I enjoy serving my husband and our children. It makes them all feel uncomfortable. But they all got used to my ways of doing things over the years.
When it comes to cooking meals, I do most of the cooking in our family; even though my hubby and our daughter, are the best cook. My hubby used to cook every once in a while for me, especially, when I run out of ideas and nothing sounds good to me. My hubby is very creative with cooking; he can cook up a meal with what we have in the pantries, freezer and fridge.
Our daughter, loves to try new gourmet recipes from online and it's always tastes so good; even when it's just the simplest recipes! Because it's recipes that I haven't made before.
Oh yes. The cilantro. It is an herb that you either love it or hate it!
I, for one, loves cilantro and would put it in almost every dishes that I cook up!
Thank you for sharing your experiences and insights on what you have learned.
    Peace be with you all!

Living in different society, especially on cultures, is so beautiful and making us to stay together in peacefully and happily even we are differences in our worship. Difference condition makes us to be more open and more constructive views. We honor and respect what they worship and I believe that those who differ from us will honor us too. This is beautiful life Truly.

Even though I am Asian and it's a blended meaning two different types of Asian culture and I am born in North America I always seen these things growing up and thought it was just me seeing what was wrong or different in the Asian culture. I feel like Asians don't talk about it so thank you it reaffirms my experiences.

Lilly I understand that you love your husband and no marriage is perfect. I was married for 28 yrs until my husband passed and there were many different things we did not agree upon. I can accept your cultural differences but never allow anyone to be rude to you most of all your husband!! Allowing that type of behavior makes it acceptable to him.Love is also about respect as well no matter the culture! Much love to you and keep making your amazing videos!!
