I have the same rifle chambered in 308. Loved it super accurate. The rifle do have some kick to it. I still need to get my first deer with it. Last year wasn't a good seaon. Hoping for a better season this year.
My wife has a Tikka T3 in 308. She has killed many large hogs with it and a few turkeys. She loves it. I had a chance to buy a used T3 in 7mm mag. from rack in Cabela's but stupidly passed it up. I always clean our rifles after a hunt. That Tikka of hers feels great well balanced and light. I guess I will stick with my trusty old Thomson Center Venture 30 06 for now but I am still lusting for that T3 7mm mag!
They have the same rifle including cartridge but in left hand at my local Cabela’s. Since I am a cross dominant shooter I use left handed rifles. It was on sale too. But since it wasn’t threaded I didn’t go with it. I really liked it though.
I bought a t3x lite SS in 6.5 cm last year after my shoulder surgeries was looking for a caliber that won’t beat me up as much as my old Remington 700 in 30-06 ...my shoulder couldn’t be happier and I’m completely sold on Tikka will never buy another brand of bolt action unless I step up and get a Sako
Can’t go wrong with a tikka top notch as good as you can get for about $800-900..I got mine in 6.5cm and it shoots 1/2” groups all day on a cold barrel
In the commercial before the video the scope that they were selling they bragged about having caps on the turret adjustments, and that just cracked me up, I mean that just sold me right there LOL
Beautiful Rifle. Got one in 6.5 with a Vortex Diamondback I’m set for life with a rifle for anything elk or under. Accurate as hell too and trigger and action are a Dream. How bad does the 7 kick without your lead sled. Almost brought it in a 7 but preferred not to get my brain rattled.
Good choice in 6.5 creed and it comes with a 24 inch barrel too. I have owned several Tikka’s and anything over the 270 and you start getting a lot of recoil it that’s to be expected from that light of rifle!
I bought a stainless Tikka T3X Superlight in .270 Win for hunting up here in Alaska. This rifle is inexpensive, so it has lots of plastic...plastic stock with no aluminum bedding block, plastic magazine, plastic trigger guard, plastic bolt release, etc. At least now Tikka has steel recoil lug and aluminum bolt shroud and a foam filled stock...all improvements over earlier Tikka T3x. It would cost more than the rifle to upgrade all the plastic components, and they don't substantially affect accuracy. I was able to get subMOA accuracy with IMR4350 in one afternoon of load development...my best load was at ~3,000 fps with a standard deviation of 4.6 fps with Nozler brass full length resized with a shoulder bump of 0.002" shooting 130 gr Barnes TTSX. I also like the recoil hole on the receiver (Sako/Tikka optiloc system) and used Warne Maxima rings to mount directly to the receiver dovetail (no rail or scope bases needed). The Maxima rings have a recoil lug that fits into the receiver recoil hole nicely. A very light, all-weather, accurate mountain rifle.
Debating on either the T3X Lite Roughtech or the X-Bolt Western Hunter in 300WM. Found both still available at only a $50 difference ... Any advice? Love to hear your thoughts.
I’m saving to get the same rifle. Would you say the extra $200 to get the rough tech model that comes threaded would be worth it for the recoil? Also after shooting it more does it tend to like the lighter 150gr or heavier 175s?
@@grantdavies4282 I have a 300 win mag in this rifle. You notice it more on the bench. When you're hunting you won't even feel the kick a 300wm produces. It's worth it.
nice review. I own several tikkas' was wondering why you were using a left handed at( 5:16 to 5:26) and a right handed model for the rest of review? do you own 2 of these?
Tikka’s are one of the Best Buy’s on the market today but the only think to be aware of is that being as light as they are they do produce a lot of recoil in any rifle over a 30-06 that being said I have owned both the tikka’s and the Sako’s and the Tikka’s are a better gun for the price your paying!
Absolutely right about the caliber choice as far as the tikka t3x lite ...I would say keep it under a .308 unless it’s the tikka hunter with the wood stock
Comparing the tikka to the Bergara wilderness hunter. The Bergara is better in every way but weight and maybe drop mag instead of box magazine Both have sub moa guarantee Bergara now has a fluted bolts and is smoother than tikka Better stock Extra round in the box magazine Metal trigger guard. All tikkas are long action for some reason Wilderness is cerakoted and tikka is stainless. I prefer cerakote.
I’ve had experience with both. I agree on all but smoothness and cerakote over stainless. Tikka is to the smoothest rifle I’ve ever held also the quality of their stainless is insane.
Put a limb saver recoil pad on it first then if it’s still to much put a break on it or sell it if the recoil is too much! Lighter gun more recoil plain and simple!
@Tyler Hernandez great comment and I absolutely agree. I own the original T3 which is heavier than this model and it is too light for a magnum cartridge. People need to realize what they are giving up in steadiness and getting highly increased recoil when shooting this platform in a magnum. I have a friend who owns a T3x lite in 270 and complains about it kicking way more than his 7MM mag browning x bolt
My thoughts exactly. Clean it good first, before you ever shoot it. Then there are many techniques afterwards. I clean and cool for the first 10 or shoot 3 on a cold barrel then clean and repeat until 20 rounds. No one gun has the same result ,but clean and cool to get the best accuracy over the long haul. Good luck!
I never seen any scientific data supporting this. I heard a barrel manufacture say don't worry about it, just shoot it. I know there's a lot of ppl "concerned" about barrel break-in, but I never seen or heard solid evidence support it.
I'm no expert but two of my new rifles started out 1.5 " groups and after being disappointed I decided to break the barrel in and after about 100 rounds get 1/2"- 3/4" groups. Also got a old ruger m77 mark 2 I had for 20 years was horrible when new now with over 2000 rounds and 20 years of hunting it shoots excellent. I think it depends on specific barrel but most will shoot better after the bore smooths out after a few boxes of ammo.
Having someone mount your scope? That's pretty sad. You should learn how to do things yourself. What if something goes wrong in the field? Everyone knows how to pull a trigger. It's the resourceful and those that can adapt that separates the true outdoorsman from the snow flakes.

With the sled its not bad. And if your out hunting you wont even feel it kick if you take a shot at your quarry. Good choice on the 6.5cm.

yeah having a muzzle brake would be worth it. 175 is what it likes now.
Very nice rifle, can’t decide caliber wise between a 7mm or .300win mag for hunting all types of game from small to big, what are your thoughts?
300 win on this rifle would kick so hard. Rifle is around 6lbs bare. 7mm is tolerable . You can always put a brake though to tame some of the recoil.

Rick savage much better have one in 6.5 prc .

So what is the kick like with a lighter weapon and a heavier caliber the kick must be severe
If your shooting it at the bench and doing 1 or 2 boxes use a sled or something.. If hunting you wont notice the recoil.
@@HuntBeatOutdoors absolutely right...with the adrenaline that 30-06 will not be a problem

The Winchester super X is the best group.
Right hand action, left hand action, right hand action....whats up am i seeing things or did you have 2 guns out there?????
All right hand bro.. its just the camera playing tricks :)

Came here for some recoil reviews. Probably not much on a bench and weighted rig.
Recoil is ok when your hunting. :) Anyways i got rid of this one and will go for a 7mm prc
That is a really cool rifle you can change it from left hand to right hand action😅😂
Good shooting
Do they make the 300 win mag with the fluted barrel?
Yes
5:22 left hand bolt and 6:05 Right hand bolt ?

SIG Sauer sierra3 Bdx scope :)

Cerakote protects the outside but not the chamber or bore. Hunting in the backcountry sleeping in tents or hunting in rain is hell on non stainless.
How bad is the recoil without the sled ? Is it manageable
Recoil to me seems fine.
Where are you located?
That's going to be painful. 7mm remington mag out of a lite gun is not a good idea.
Showing off a tikka t3x and didn’t weigh it to see if specs are truthful?
That's a beautiful gun, but I bet you it's going to snap you a little bit. All that said that's a beautiful gun😉
how much do you weigh
i wanna know just how much it would kick me

Sig Sauer Sierra 3 BDX
How you gonna mention Tikka & Savage, but not SAKO?
No experience with Sako but I heard they are the better versions of Tikka. Thanks

Talley lightweight rings medium @jakeestrada1239

One inch low does not make sence.
