    Very soon. Flatbed market might get saturated with trucks, and it will be trash like dry van. Just because flatbed is ok now doesn't mean that it will be good 6-8 months down the road. That is what happened to dry van and refer market. I hope all is gonna get better soon.

      @Scot Smith that is what dry van and refer people used to say 1 year ago. Now they realize What Trucking is all about, the same might happen to flatbed people, don't be surprised if it happens to flatbed market. Because the dry van and refer market is trash, a lot of these people are either switching or planning to switch to flatbed. If a small percentage of those dry van and refer people do that, flatbed will be trash. Spot market is all about supply and demand, if there are too many trucks in the market, rates are gonna be trash. However, if you can get contracted freight, then yes, you should be fine.

    I enjoyed hearing ur perspective of flatbed 'from the office' or finance and dispatching side of things. I drive for tmc and currently at 28%. most of my loads are also pick up deliver next day (then pick up a load same day after delivery). However, most of my loads are tarped. We have lumber and steel tarps. and I pick up anything (excpet for Hay). but large coils, lumber, steel beams, PVC pipes. And most of my eDH miles average maybe 85 miles. some higher, some lower.

    You're mistaken about the sleep cycle being better for flatbed drivers, just because you think they only work when others do. Driving off hours to get to the next day's delivery and the load and unload on each end plus head to next load and repeat. If one drives weekends like I did, you are running the weekend and prepping for the delivery and that also means usually rolling your hours which is made worse by the ELD's. I'll agree with one thing, at least you're trying to learn the secuement requirements, because the drivers depend on accurate knowledge so they aren't blind-sided by lack of equipment and then scrambling.

    Im impress your driver with 53 manage to do all those deliverys without tarps usually your going to have to pickup I say 3-5 loads in a month in the spring/summer with tarps also keep in mind when you run into that situation this will add time on the hos plus if your drivers told you or not with every load we are expected to stop and recheck 1.50mi/1hr 2. 150mi/2.5hr if running chains hauling metal I prefer to stop more earlier but good job to you and your team👍

    In my opinion, which doesn't matter, but 28% gross is not enough for someone with 2 years experience, unless you have a lot of benefits, like health insurance, paid time off and match 401k. 33% is what most decent drivers get on 1099. Well at least in my experience and my circle. Which makes a huge difference in gross at the end of the month, running 4 weeks, 5 days a week, 20 days get 10k regularly and with 9 months experience. With 28% you might not get as quality of a driver, working on 1099 with flatbeds. Skill in tarping, chaining and strapping is way more important then just driving. Just my opinion dont mean to do no harm, and you may discard it, im no one 😅. You might have a much better skilled pool of drivers with higer pay, means faster and safer

      @myroslavgrynyuk7011 Год назад

      @truckgawd when you are responsible for the load securment and risk your life every day, it's not. Especially if you are away for 4 weeks, sleeping in a truck, taking showers rarely at truck stops and have to eat from other places once food from home runs out. You will get what you ask for and some people don't settle for less and get it. Good luck my friend

    • @myroslavgrynyuk7011
      @myroslavgrynyuk7011 Год назад +1

      @@miamiseba1 it's true, but also a lot of companies are poorly run and they deduct from the driver, there are tons of companies and if you call dozen a day you can find 33%, pay is one part and if you happy, it's great. But in life I learned to never settle for less for my hard work. I only have loyalty to my self and my family. Bosses will cut pay to cover their bottom line so I will change to improve mine and has worked out well. Be safe out there, people have no idea how dangerous of a job trucking is, and the risk with flatbeds we take. Only one bad mistake to ruin our life or others
