Nick McCabe is 22 here! I wasn't at this gig but was fortunate to see Verve a few times around then. Although I loved them, and A Storm in Heaven is still my favourite album, I really had no idea that I was witnessing and listening to genius.
Fantastici! Psicadelia pura…Virtual world e already there da ascoltare fino alla nausea! Ogni grande band ha sempre una grande voce e grande chitarra ! Peccato essermeli persi come i Doors
I can’t listen to the albums now after finding these recorded gigs. McCabe’s performances are even more ethereal. I didn’t get to see them until around ‘97/98. You hear this and then sit through Keep catching that butterfly and realise you missed out!
This is a great gig and remained the best one I'd been to until I saw the Verve for the second time at the Waterfront in Norwich a year later. Thanks for posting this, I never thought this would make it to the internet but here it is!!
Ashcroft completely unrecognisable from what he is now. A band of 20 year olds in 1993 making what sounded like new music. I wonder what their salary was for that year. A time capsule to remind us just how extinct our old world is. What happened? Nothing has this freshness anymore.
I sadly missed seeing them live. One of the greatest bands ever and I prefer them to Oasis. Alice in Chains had a true great singer also but sadly he died far too young. Layne Staley also like Richard Ashcroft was blessed with an amazing talent for vocals.
Virtual World sounds fantastic in this live performance! Hearing some of the first album songs live again, reminds you of what a great album it is!
I’m loving these bootleg recordings. In some ways better than the studio recordings. Raw energy that only makes their sound even better.

This gig 1993
Love how heavy make it till Monday is during the chorus. No band can do that quiet to loud to quiet like the verve 👏🏻
