Skinner, thinking on his feet, claims he doesn't realize the smoke, and is stretching his calves on the windowsill. Chalmers leaves, and as Skinner goes to Krusty Burger, he comes up with a much better excuse he could've said to Chalmers. After coming back with the burgers, Skinner is exhausted. Chalmers was expecting steamed clams, but Skinner brings in some hamburgers. Chalmers is aware of what Skinner calls hamburgers, (that being Steamed Hams) and points that out before eating. Skinner, who always seemed to have his ears clogged, didn't quite hear Chalmers, and repeats exactly what he said on complete accident. Silly Skinner! Chalmers asks what region the saying comes from, and Skinner has completely forgotten about this fact. Chalmers asks if the saying is in Utica, and Skinner, (who just so happened to fail geography) says the saying actually originates in New York. Chalmers, who may be on to something, suspects the hamburgers taste simular to the ones at Krusty Burger. Skinner corrects his mistake he made earlier and says the Steamed Ham saying actually originates in Albany, not New York or Utica. Chalmers asks again that Utica came up with the oh so classic Steamed Hams name. Skinner, who had a little too much of that purple drink, replies saying that he made the burgers himself, not aware that Chalmers had known this fact. Chalmers then calls Skinner out saying the burgers are grilled and not Steamed like in the name. Could Skinner be deceiving him? It couldn't be. There's no way he'd do that! Skinner realizes he's trapped in a corner and confirms that they are grilled, despite the name. Skinner attempts to excuse himself, but stumbles on his words. Chalmers notices and excuses Skinner himself. How polite. After coming back, Skinner successfully excuses himself, albeit a bit late. Chalmers, noticing Arora Borealis in his kitchen, points it out. Skinner is too tired to acknowledge this. Chalmers asks Skinner if Arora Borealis really is happening in the very next room, to Skinner's suprise, it is! He asks Chalmers about the northern lights. Chalmers is curious and wants to see them. Skinner says yes, and they proceed to both go outside to get some air before going to see the northern lights. They forget about this quickly thanks to Skinner's mother saying the house is on fire. Skinner denies this completely. Doesn't she know that's just the northern lights? Chalmers ends the evening with saying that Skinner may be an odd fellow for sure, but he does Steam a good Ham. Pure. Poetry.

Actually, Skinner set it up at the beginning by telling mother that "it's only the northern lights." He totally cued up Chalmers to think of it later in the afternoon, when a strange glow began to pour forth from the roast-ruined kitchen. Which only circles around to Skinner being clairvoyant about the fire, too, and wanting to make sure Chalmers believed him when he said it wasn't his fault, it was a natural phenomenon.
