Genius experimental album that still sounds fresh today 2024., ive never come across this before, so glad to have found this rare interview, talking about one of my all time favourite albums, thank you. I consider eno the prime minister of music
Totally blown away with this album when it came out. It made me realise if you looked for something interesting, you could find it, rather than being force fed rubbish on the radio all day long.
I remember the first time my teenage friends and I first put this record on my turntable and wondered whether we had the wrong speed or if there was something wrong with the turntable. Kinda humorous looking back...
A natural reaction, there was nothing else like it. Sometime later I bought the dark ambient album Lustmord. Damn is that creepy. Forty years on and I have only listened to the first few minutes. I was considering waving The Bible over my turntable to drive out the bad spirits.
As noted on the clip of Quran, also on Y’tube, and on my original vinyl, this album blew my mind. At 17, and up v loud, it actually (thrillingly) almost scared me - ‘Come With Us’ - wow - that is just CREEPY… That percussion break in ‘Jezebel Spirit’ really does it for me. I’d love to hear it looped up on the dance floor, watching people totally let rip to it. This album, and the track ‘Listening Wind’ on Remain in Light - how damned prescient was that rhythmic piece of brilliance? I really, really love Eno’s ’Just bloody do it’ approach - he’s like a highly talented, ever-curious and utterly determined sculptor using fragments of things to create a new and fascinating whole. A true synthesist (did l just invent that term?🤔). He’s happy to share his ideas and methods with everyone; not feeling that he has to ‘guard’ them as he’s so confident in his ability to continually create. He’s totally into collaboration and he is so, so bold. He’s, as far as l’m concerned, a mentor and inspiration to everyone who is motivated to create!
Seemingly Eno made available some unheard demo versions of the album back in 2012 with download links to access them. Unfortunately the links on these sites they were original on are now broken. Does anyone know where or how these versions could be gotten hold of?-Great interview and thanks for the upload!
Nonesuch Records published the multitracks for "Help Me Somebody," and another song whose name I forget, as a part of the PR campaign for the 2006 remaster/re-release of _My Life in the Bush of Ghosts_ . I don't know where you can find them today.
I n Chicago - I got used to Eno or Brian Ferry/ romance.., then I was unleashed not unlike NamJune zpaik- his wife - and throwback to Kurt Schwitters “ Anna Blum”
Well I didn’t mean buzzard - but they like all kinds of weird - I recall listening to WAAF or WzbCNand requested Tslking Heads and Al Green - I asked for Tske me to the River and they said 🙁who is AlbGreen ?
Thank you very much for the upload!
The unfinished version of "Mea Culpa" at 7:00 without the drums, you can reaaly hear the voices. I have no words...WOW
Mmm, sounds like they gated the samples or something for the release. My favorite from the album.
When I first heard this album in Australia, it just blew my mind! I love the eclectic mix of sounds!
And me as well. It absolutely altered my view of music… THIS was the kind of thing that l really, really wanted to listen to.

I agree, still my favorite album. Ancient, futuristic, spiritual, haunting and technological all at once.
Nice insight from a musical genius, very interesting album. Discreet Music and it’s back story is very rewarding journey…
Interesting interview! I bought the album, when it was first released. I wasn't disappointed.

Years ago ... yet today, things are still far more like they are right now than they ever have been.

And I believe - I always said What does Brian Eno say?! Buzzard Disco works for me

@@jmdavison62 Many thanks for the info-Perhaps one day the demo versions may appear online again-fingers crossed.
I'd like to find the original sounds and make a completely different album with them. I wonder if Eno's label would then sue me :) Could he?
A document!
