I am using both Vogayer 5200 and Shokz OpenComm for years. I love them both. Few notes: + People on the other end told me that my voice came out clearer with OpenComm even when I was in the noisy environment, however because of the bone conduction tech, I hv had hard times doing zoom meetings etc in the noisy environment since I couldn't listen to the other end speaking. Voyager 5200 is a winner when doing online meetings in the noisy environment. + With Opencomm I can conduct series of online meetings 4-6 hours without feeling tired, but I can only do 2 hours max with Voyager 5200 before my ear canal becomes itchy or irritated. + Mute button is a hassle for Opencomm. I have to press both of the volume buttons for a few secs. At times I fail to do so cuz pressing both buttons at the same time needs good muscle coordination, only Reed Richards the smartest man in the universe has that kind of ability 😅. Another thing, there's this annoying beep every few seconds reminding you that you're muted. With Voyager 5200, muting yourself is really easy, just hit the mute button and you're muted, there's this announcement once telling you that youre in a muted condition but that's all. + Voyager 5200 comes with a small charging case and fit your pocket or your small bag, and it's easier to carry if you're mobile and on the go. Opencomm comes with a protective bag that doesnt fit my small sling bag. Both have their uses in different situations. For me personally, I use Opencomm at my office or at home for longer meetings. I use Voyager 5200 while I am mobile or on the road.
Just an important note to add. I've tried both. If you are in a loud environment (Trains passing by/helicopter noise/sirens) when you are using the Shokz OpenComm. It is very hard to hear the other person in the call. Maybe it's a downside of the bone conducting technology. It's easier to hear through the call with the Voyager 5200 since the audio is pumped directly to your ear. Also, my voice quality in a loud environment for my 5200 isn't as bad as this, which is weird. For indoor meetings the OpenComm is great.
Fair points. Some customers in certain applications wear earplugs when wearing their Opencomm to block out the noise and still hear in extremely loud environments.
The idea is that when people are unable to hear their own voice, they tend to speak louder. This can help the microphone pick up their voice more accurately. Therefore, bone conduction technology causes people to speak louder unintentionally.
I had such high hopes for the opencomm but I was I’ll admit, I love the opencomm. The issues is is so unreliable. The ringer fluctuates to the point where it will scare the hell out of you. The volume will also adjust to the point where it hurts. But the OC feels good after the earring it almost all day. I’m a cable tech so I’m under desk, climbing ladders, and in noisy Network Closets and Data Centers. The Poly has to be switched when I’m moving around on the floor from cubicle to cubicle at times. So there are downsides to both head sets. After a few months the Poly will start to give you issues from not doing call announcement, toggling back and forth to the phone while your having a conversation, and want maintain a whole days worth of talk time. For those saying BS, guys I’ve bought so many PLT/Poly series since 2011. They have got so much money for me that it’s crazy that I’m not a bath tester for them. For those calling BS on the OC, we’ll I was so happy with it initially that I got my sister one since she raises little kids all day. She was having the exact same issues. But with the OC, when it’s working right it’s the best ever but when it’s acting up it sucks. Not to mention it will decide when it wants to do call announcement on its own. Again I’m a tech and I rely on hands free headsets all the time. But there are benefits to both. This is just my experience. One last thing OC will honor your purchase with a replacement but the back and forth with them is nerve racking.
I've used the Plantronics 5200 years, the best sounding headset to date, my second one died, I'm now using AfterShokz, most of the people I talk to hear me "fine", still a bit early yet.
I've used a 5200 UC for years myself. I love it, but mine died. When trying to buy a new one, I learend Plantronics is now Poly and it seems, the product changed. Although the name is the same, i've read several user ratings on amazon from users, that claimed to be year long users, just to find the production quality went down and the ANC doesn't work as well on their newly bought replacements. Now seeing this review from June 2022 and hearing the really bad noise canceling perfomance of the 5200.... damn, thats not he headset I owned (actually 2, already broke one a few years ago) for a couple of years. With the 5200 bought in 2019, i started calls inside my home and went by bike to a store down a traffic heavy road. all without the caller on the other end noticing me not being inside anymore. If you search for reviews you find big praise for the 5200's ANC. But listening to the ANC demo here and reading the amazon reviews... I am a worried. :/
I am not sure why the PLT Voyager 5200 UC sounds like trash to this review. Another headset advisor review sounds excellent, maybe your test unit is defective? :/
Let us see what we can do. Any that we've tested aren't all that great in regards to mic quality unfortunately. Opencomm would be the best one to consider for a neckband headset for outdoor workers.
I have 3 5200s because the 2 previous were great. These 3 are the worst. A counterfeit would be a lot better. None of these 3 purchased within the last two years work in colder than 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Sometimes, the microphone decides to stop working for no reason. The most recent one I returned with Poly (taking 6 months for processing). The other 3 I'm left with, because I didn't return them within the one year warranty. It still boggles my mind how good the 3 - to 5 years old 5200s were, compared with these recent jokes. 😢
I work from home, making calls all day using CXone by NICE on my laptop. I have no background noise and really just want a reliable wireless headset for work. There's quite a difference in price between these two headsets on Amazon. Any suggestions on which would work best for all day PC work calls when remaining stationary at a desk?

Modern laptops have built in bluetooth so you should be able to connect to your laptop same way as you`re connecting the headset to your phone. If windows 10 somewhere in bluetooth and other devices you can add a bluetooth device, set your headset to pairing mode and the laptop should be able to find it and pair with it.
hello. I am a South Korean. I have a question and I would like to ask. I'm looking for business earbuds or monosets. Focus on video conferencing and call quality. It is not specifically considered for the purpose of listening to music. Considering that, the most suitable products would be Plantronics 'Voyager 5200 UC' and Logitech's 'Zone true wireless'. However, Logitech's 'Zone true wireless' has not been officially released in our country yet. There are no domestic reviews. But you've reviewed both. If so, can you tell me which product is better in terms of 'online video conferencing' and 'call quality'? Or can you recommend some of the best products that are better than them? Except for the headset. Oh, and by any chance, do you know what Sony's 'Linkbuds S' is like? I've heard that the call quality is also good. I would like it to be comfortable to wear since I have to work for several hours in the state of wearing it in my ear all day.
