All made from submarine steel and Tegimented, which means basically scratch proof! Type in on RUclips tests witch scratching a tegimented Sinn watch. And you will go down a rabbit whole😂. Todays Rolex watches may get little cosmetic scratches, swirls and flea bites more easily than vintage Rolex, but modern Rolex are dramatically more robust. Modern Rolex bracelets don’t stretch or fail like vintage. Modern waterproofness, accuracy, shock resistance, antimagnetic properties, power reserve etc. make them the far superior tool watches over vintage. But one thing is for sure, they aren’t branded as the tool watches they used to be and they aren’t priced as tool watches ought to be.

    Credit for Aventi should really go to the Chinese manufacturers they are using. Aventi is essentially just two Aussie blokes working from their kitchen. The level of manufacturing skills in China is amazing and under rated. And the sapphire cases Aventi uses are all from China too. They are highly affordable and nowhere near as expensive as these brands make them out to be. A sapphire case maker I spoke to offer cases at $1000-2000 each and they have confidential agreements with Swiss brands. They can’t disclose who they are supplying the cases too, but some Swiss brands are definitely buying from China and then marking up the retail prices exponentially. The Swiss brands are good at marketing and creating the illusion of quality and exclusivity. A lot of it is BS. And Aventi is doing the same by playing the artificial shortage game, to create hype and to compensate for the fact its watches are made in China. Aventi is innovative but they insist on playing games with customers by making them do an interview before selling them a piece. It’s a shame.

    The future of scratch resistance is surely in the hardening process on traditional materials like steel and titanium done excellently by brands like Sinn, Damasko, and others. Even some microbrands like RZE and Traska are doing it to very high levels of measured vickers hardness.. 4P used to shill Avanti back in the day but it didn't last long. Good to see innovations from wherever. I'm amazed they're still around but as RM seem about to disappear down the same hole as Franck Muller Avanti's designs don't bode well.

      @@vinnyfranciswatches On the chart, 904L is softer using both Rockwell and Brinell. It is softer regardless of what system you use. That's Rolex's mixture. It was built for saltwater.. it wasn't built to resist scratches.

    I wish Aventi well - nice to see someone pushing the boundaries. When they don’t have the price on the website I know it’s not for me.
    I laugh at the ‘Rolex is a tool watch’ stuff from the old boomers. They’re dressy watches with various degrees of sportiness baked in. Rolex plays it safe, rakes in the cash; a few pieces - usually only available to celebrities and the 0.001% of customers - that have some uniqueness.

  • @Cityadventurers
    @Cityadventurers 7 месяцев назад +1

    Rolex Oyster Steel as just marketing. It’s no different to the 904L steel other much lower tier brands use, like Ball and Steinhart. The only difference is the composition of the steel. Rolex changed the composition slightly, claims it’s its own innovation and trade marked it. Rolex applied a fancy term, Oystersteel, describes is as a ‘precious steel’ and slaps a high price on it and people automatically think they are buying something that is super luxury. Rolex is just preying on the naive and uninformed bunch because there’s a sucker born each minute.

  • @imtomaustin
    @imtomaustin 7 месяцев назад

    It's widely known that Rolex's propietory "Oystersteel" 904L steel is easier to scratch than most steels that others that other brands use. Rolex's Oystersteel alloy is capable of being brought to a higher sheen when polished, which is why they choose to use it. They are very open to this. It's also more corrosion resistant than other brands too, so importantly, it is "better", contrary to what you said.
    As for the Aventi, it's garbage and honestly, this seems like a paid shill. Aventi are not a "leading" independent brand, they use crap Chinese movements and focus on case materials to look fancy. How you can compare Rolex's developments over the years to Aventi is a joke tbh. Also - why would a Tourbillon with fewer components be more accurate than that from the likes of Lange, Breguet etc? Literally makes no sense.
    If this was a paid shill for Aventi (and it really does look like an advert), you really should be letting people know.

    • @vinnyfranciswatches
      @vinnyfranciswatches  7 месяцев назад +2

      It’s not widely known, rewatch the video to see the table of facts that suggests the hardness variance between the two is very minimal. I’m aware of the corrosion resistance benefits but this fact was irrelevant to line of argument being made and is irrelevant to how 99% of users will use their Rolex. As for the Aventi featured in the video, I think it’s cool, and to my taste I like it. This channel has my name on it and i’m entitled to my honest opinion without being accused of ‘shilling’. You are wrong in that assumption though i’m flattered you believe the channel is important enough to get paid deals. No comparison in this video of the Aventi movement to a Rolex movement was made so again perhaps rewatch and listen more carefully. Furthermore the point being made regarding the fewer parts on the tourbillon should result in accuracy for longer with longer service intervals, again listen carefully. Finally any suggestion that the Aventi is somehow not innovative as you claim is nonsense. Sapphire Handset, a developed tourbillon with fewer parts and a new case material is the definition of innovation. An area of Rolex watchmaking that has been lacking over the last 10 years. In summary, you’re entitled to your opinion. You’re not entitled to accuse me of shilling for having and opinion and if you have an opinion to the contrary, great, let it be known with class or start your own channel.
