It was like this like... about 12 years ago until anime hyped in our country. Living this story of the rise of the anime industry in Russia, I can assure you of the truthfulness of my words.

So they have the characters say things like "Itachi abducted his clan/has made his clan disappear" or they switched out "kill" for "defeat". They would also (at least on the TV channels I remember) remove blood and use still frames (some of them black and white to make it easier to hide violence) and not show injuries or kills at all. They massacred the story for fans of the manga and any possible new fans. Later episodes were bought and dubbed by a new (and non-consoring!) team but the damage is done already.
the bye bye in the french version is purely to fill in because the animation still had lips movement even though he basically said what he had to say and they didn't know what to make him say xD. They should have made a longer sentence xD
