When they announced this show I never would've dreamed it the animation would be so amazing. The shot of them flying around Tordak setting up for Keyleths fire elemental attack, the OST backing Pickles rebound into Thordaks gem, Elaina talking to Vex and Vax, as if it was Liam's own mother speaking to him, the moonlit back drop before Vax's dive..... This might actually be without exaggeration the best series on tv/streaming platforms currently.
Completely agree, and it BURNS me that something like Invincible is so much popular than Vox Machina, since bkth shows came out the same year on the same platform, and this show is just better.
what a way to show Travis's tactical acumen out, by having Grog say he blacked out for a second. "I hear the voice of my mother in the morning." So very well done.
They're cooking something up weird with the Raven Queen, Kash, and Percy. They wouldn't be spending the animation budget on just showing Kash pass on and Vax seeing it unless there's more to come later. They're placing emphasis on it for a reason.
At this point of the campaign, Liam had recently lost his mother to cancer, and was doing his best to carry on. He has mentioned that getting the killing blow on Thordak, who killed Vax's mother was a cathartic experience, like he had defeated the cancer that plagued his mother.
I’ve always loved that Liam got the kill, because of his mom and the parallels, but this time it hit so much different. Because when Thordak died this time, it was like saying goodbye to Lance all over again 😭
I think I can see a pattern to the musical chairs: Vax gets the big Thordak kill so he dosent need 2 dragons, so Grog can have Brimscythe, so that Scanlan gets Umbrasyl, freeing up his big moment in hell (killing the Pit Feind) to be swapped out for Pikes new encounter with Zerxus. imo Vex should have been kept just the same as it was, Kimas extra bit was fine, but the kill itself should have been a significant solo moment for Vex the dragon hunter
There is hope yet for Zhara and Kashaw's babies if I remember correctly in the campaign during the Thordak fight it was hinted that Zhara was pregnant by that point, so it could be the case in the show, hopefully
The changes are fun. Unexpected and fresh. And oh so painfull. I love that they are diverging from the original a bit so those of us who watched the live show can still be surprised.
I'm calling that the next 3 are going to be trying to revive Percy, Scanlan, and Kash. For Percy that will mean going after Orthax who has Percy's soul (since he was shot).
It's going to be extra painful for Keyleth. Not only does she get "I told you!" rage on everyone else, but now she also has to deal with doubting herself at the very end and being ready to break bread with the monster that had a hand in the massacre of her people. Her self-esteem is going to PLUMMET.
On the other hand they did need Raishan's help to defeat Thordak, it was a bit of a hard situation like back in season 1 where the team had to prevent Percy from killing Delilah because while she deserved it entirely if Percy had done so his soul would have been Orthax's property so they had to prevent that even if they didn't like it. But Cassandra was free to kill Delilah after so they saved Percy and killed Delilah. Here, well, having a dragon helping to take down another dragon who was more powerful than the first 2 that they killed honestly was one good thing to do, bad thing was letting her live after that thinking she would be good. Oh well, they'll get her anyway for sure.
@Karomix3 Oh absolutely, they wouldn't have been able to defeat Thordak if Raishan didn't tell them about the Plate of the Dawnmartyr. However it's obvious Keyleth has tunnel vision when it comes to Raishan's role in Pyrah's destruction, and the fact that the moment she let her guard down and was about to make peace with Raishan she got stabbed in the back is NOT going to help. Lol
@@vgexpert20001 Yeah. And Scanlan is in a coma it seems, wonder if he'll also wake up in a week like in the campaign, or they could play with it and he ends up dying from his injuries later on and then get revived, head injuries are just plain awful.
@Karomix3 I doubt they would have put him in a coma just to kill him in his sleep. Most likely he'll wake up hearing Pike and/or Kaylie playing/singing the song he wrote for Kaylie.
Percy is gone, Kashaw is gone. They are systematically removing all of the fathers that are supposed to have tiefling babies! Genocide is what it is! We can't stand for this! XD
As much as I love your reactions I'm going to have to stop watching them with all the campaign spoilers that are casually tossed around. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series, love your face ❤
Spoiler Theory for end of season below. My current theory, given the writing so far, is that taking down Raishan will be the next two episodes, and they'll find magic in her horde to heal Scalan and raise Percy along with the money to rebuild Whitestone. However, the Bards Lament will happen when they heal Scanlan. Then he'll leave before they realize they need to save Percy from Orthax before he can be brought back which will be the hook for next season along with a Vecna name or scene drop. They might even tie Percy being raised to Vecna's return somehow making it their fault he was able to get out because they wanted to save their friend.
My Spoiler Theory for the end of the season: I think Raishan took Thordak to Delilah to do the speak undead/finish whatever her plans for Thordak are. I think it's reasonable in the show to have Raishan potentially working with Vecna if he promised her a cure that she wasn't getting from Thordak. It also reintroduces that plotline nicely.
@Onwlsi spoiler talk: I could absolutely see that. Though I will point out that Raishan is a high-level magic user in her own right. Which is why I think her horde will have all kinds of magic goodies they'll use. Maybe she got some of them from Vecna/his cult? I don't know. I just see them bring Percy back having something to do with helping to break him out of his prison. Mostly because it connects the two stories more and makes them pay a bigger price for cheating death.
@@Onwlsi spoiler talk: Tbh, my theory for Raishan's cure was always to become a dracolich. Since she was cursed by a god, it would take another god of equal or higher strengh to clean it, or forgiveness from the original god, but diseases have a loophole: You can only be sick if you are alive. Constructs and undead are immune to it. Always thought Thordak knew how to do it, but hated it, that's why he would hold the information from her. In many settings Dragons have a special contempt for their siblings that choose this path. I never thought about bringing Vecna to this plot, but it is true that his ascension could make him strong enough to remove the curse. I like it too
Speaking of Vecna, do you think they will be using the name Vecna for the character or keep referring to him as the whispered one or one of his other titles? Legal issues and all that, hope we can get a full blown Vox Machina rendition of The Undying King, it will be awesome.
@stevengarcia5720 I think they will still call him the whispered one, maybe even say something like "he's so old even he's forgotten his real name" ect. However, he'll be Vecna in all other ways.

At the _very least_ Thordak is a good dad, _a lot more_ than can be said for _Kevdak._
Or Scanlan...
@@elbruces Hey, he's trying, and Kaylee is still alive, so...
What is it with Daks?
Yeah, when was in anguish at seeing his young dead, I actually kinda pitied Thordak.

When you said all the NPC's were fair game last episode, you weren't kidding....
Dragon: Stream killer : Cartoon killer
Brimscythe : Vax : Grog
Umbrasyl : Grog : Scanlan
Vorugal : Vex : Kima, Vex, and Keyleth
Thordak : Vax : Vax
Strictly Speaking, Brimscythe's death wasn't streamed.
