Princess Alicia, clever and beautiful, glad to see you are back reacting to Avatar. You are in for a very wild ride with the third season, for many this is considered the best season. On a side note, that emotional confession of Katara never fails to get to me, it is delivered with so much pain and raw emotion in her voice...
Princess alicia the clever and beautiful, did you know that ozai is voiced by mark hamel? He played luke skywalker, and voiced the joker in batman the animated series.
The reason Ozai sounds so good is because he’s voiced by the legendary Mark Hamill who is absolutely amazing at voicing villains In my opinion, Mark does better voice acting villains than he does playing heroes
Man I’m so stupid. Everytime Mark Hamil voices a character I never realizes it’s him until someone points it out to me. And is voice is very distinguished with all the shows I watch I should be better at recognizing him
There's an animated DC short where Mark Hamill (voiced by Mark Hamill) is kidnapped by The Joker (voiced by Mark Hamill) and The Trickster (voiced by Mark Hamill) and rescued by Swamp Thing (voiced by Mark Hamill)
27:37 Well... Azula knows Zuko thinks the Avatar might be alive, if he's right he takes the blame not her, if he's wrong she'll find it entertaining seeing Zuko worrying about that, it's a Win Win for her
Zuko and Mai being together while shocking actually makes sense as in the Zuko Flashback we got we see Mai blush and Zuko “saves” her from the burning apple, it was kinda implied they liked eachother so I mean it makes sense that when he finally was able to come back, and they were older, that maybe they decided to try it out. Idk I thought it was sweet how Zuko is like the only thing that makes her happy otherwise she’s an emotionless badass lol
Man... i rewatched the avatar so many times and still cry on so much scenes. But that katara section with her dad got me good today. I completely forgot about it.
THE DILF x2 EPISODE Also this episode shows two different ways a father talks to their child and other way around. Hakoda hugs Katara and tells her how much the children mean to him. Then you have Ozai to whom Zuko has to greet him ON HIS KNEES. No physical contact. No hug, nothing. ;;-;;
24:23 This scene with Katara and her father never fails to make me cry. Katara's voice actress does such a great job of conveying the deep emotional pain and frustration Katara was feeling. I think I relate so much because of the fear and loneliness I've experienced every time someone I care about has stepped out of my life. Every time it has happened, I understand why they did it, whether it be through death or something changing in their life, but knowing and accepting why they left never stops the grief, loneliness and pain I feel. And that's frustrating.
Bit belated. That scene is great in its own right, but then they cut to Zuko and Ozai. And the contrast is so incredible. Katara feels free to express her feelings to her father, and when she says she's sad and angry and hurt, Hakoda's natural reaction is to comfort her. Like, well, a _father._ And then we cut to Zuko and Ozai. Zuko's bowing down, he isn't free to express anything, and Ozai is heaping praise on him for doing things that Zuko actually knows was wrong. And all of that praise is conditional. Nothing's unconditional with Ozai.
The hard cut between Hakoda and Katara, and Zuko and Ozai, gets me every time. At around 20:00. They're not expecting the birth od the next avatar. Aang is believed to be dead, and he died on the avatar state wich means the whole concept of the Avatar died with him. People truly believe there will never be hope ever again.
Late reply, but im not sure people actually know that, cause Aang didnt even know that. I think they just think they have another decade or two before it becomes a problem again.
Season 3 starts and Alicia can't go 5 minutes without SIMPING on them DADDIES in this show. LOL Ready to watch the rest of this and will see how your take on Korra will be if you move to watch that later on.
This episode came out around the time of I think a major deployment? So that Scene with Katara and her father was really hitting for alot of kids who had family serving. Also look at the Parallels between Aang' group and Zuko's family, Aang is feeling like a failure but comforted by friends, Zuko succeeded but is unhappy. Katara and Hakoda had a tense but then really sweet genuine moment, Zuko talked with Ozai and despite the praise and recognition he might as well have had a gun to his head. Side note: Don't knock on Mai just yet, she is one of Zuko's childhood friends and she waited three years for him. Besides..I think you'll come to like her as this goes on.
One of the interesting things is that while its clear Sokka missed his father, he wasn't as torn up about it as Katara was. In large part this was due to him being the older of the two and, in many respects, his father placing clear expectations and responsibilities on him that he then also acknowledged that Sokka held to and recognized him as a man. Meanwhile, Katara didn't have that moment and likely when she was reunited with Hakoda was simply to torn up concerning Aang and focused on healing for them to have more than a moment. Then her emotional wall she constructed went up and Hakoda was caught off guard and unsure how to deal with it. It's clear that the Water Tribes are fairly traditional when it comes to gender roles (Sokka's attitude towards girls early on don't come out of nowhere, and we are shown outright the Northern Water tribe is very traditional), but this also means that in normal times Katara's emotional issues likely would have been handled by her female relatives, not her father. Hakoda thus would be amply prepared for how to deal with Sokka as a young man, but, as we see here, not have a good idea of how to handle Katara until she directly confronted him with her feelings and once directly confronted THEN he could figure out the way to handle it. The family and character dynamics in Avatar were written amazingly well, and, as you constantly praise, the voice actors were brilliant (and, credit should likely also go to the directors for their direction). I think, by this point, nobody needs to justify why it is considered a Classic, and will likely continue to be viewed for decades more to come.
5:00 they didn't _end up_ together, they've _BEEN_ together. They've been in a relationship since before the show even started. That's why Zuko said "it's complicated" after kissing Jin in that episode you're talking about, he was literally cheating on his girlfriend, who had been patiently waiting 3 WHOLE YEARS for him to come back.
Princess Alicia, clever and beautiful, to add salt to injury, it is worth remembering, that Aang was taken down when in Avatar state. His death would ment, that there would be no more avatars. So they really dodge the bullet.
I love that they waited until season 3 to completely show us Ozai's face. And I love that he is voiced by Luke Skywalker and I can't wait to see Daniel Dae Kim bring him to life in the Netflix Live Action. Yes, Aang has been shaving his head. We see him shave his head in the Ba Sing Se short stories episode.
honestly the break might've helped with the feel out of the show, given there's a bit of a timeskip from the end of book 2 to the start of book 3. But am super glad to see this getting uploaded again.
There was hints that Mai and Zuko had somthing going on. Season 2 ep 3 Ty lee comments on how intresting it will be seeing Zuko again while directing it to Mai. Season 2 ep 7 in the flashback we clearly saw Mai having a crush on Zuko. Plus this would explain why Zuko was hesitant with Jin beyond the obvious of being a akward teenager he might have been conflicted about having a girlfriend back home. Ozai shit dad but a good looking daddy. Also a warning that if you think that you cried during the last two books this last one will really kick your ass so be preparde.
Princess Alicia, clever and beautiful! You’re in for some amazing and fun episodes. Can’t wait for you to see my favorite episode in the series. As always I love your reactions, stay strong girl!
What a way to start a season!!! This episode always makes me cry, Mae Whitman gave it all in that Katara-Hakoda scene, and it's probably one of my fav scenes of Avatar (I also love that we know now the reason why Katara offered to stay in Ba Sing Se instead of Sokka, because she wasn't ready to see her dad). And at this moment we've seen so many parallels between Aang and Zuko, but damn that cut always hits.
Azula is playing both outcomes, if the Avatar is dead, Zuko will owe her forever for letting him have the credit for his death when it was her, if Aang isn't dead, then it will be Zuko who takes the fall should he return
I can not wait until you get further into this season. It's so juicy. Better action, cool new missions for the team, awesome new developments for the cast, it's really just Avatar at its absolute best. 2 seasons of buildup, and it's all worth it and then some.
27:47 Yup! She was psychic enough to catch onto Zuko's suspicion about the Avatar being alive, thus entitling Azula to have Zuko framed so that if Aang is dead, Zuko's an eternal slave to Azula. But if Aang is alive, Zuko gets punished AGAIN!!! Damn! Zuko just can't catch a break! 😠😤 He literally got put through the ringer several times by the fire nation in the span of 3 years just bc he stood up for one of their own divisions!!!
I personally don't think that Azula knew for sure that Aang was still alive, but I do think she considered the possibility, and I think it's more impressive if she gave the credit of slaying the Avatar to Zuko when she didn't 100% know. If she knew that Aang was still alive for certain, then passing the bill to Zuko is just an underhanded trick to cover her ass and set-up a turn on Zuko down the line. However, if she didn't know for certain, then the move still works as a twofold plot. She doesn't need the glory of killing the Avatar. She already gets credit for taking down Ba Sing Se. If Aang were truly dead, then it's nothing negative on her, and she gains Zuko as an ally, and she still gets the back-up plan if it turned out Aang was still alive. It becomes a more clever gambit that way.
Another thing to note about Aang's self-imposed failure is that Ba Sing Se was known to be the last Earth Kingdom stronghold left. With no Earth King and no Ba Sing Se, the Fire Nation has effectively won the war. The only thing left to do really is to snuff out any more pockets of rebellion. Also, the whole thing about "Aang dying in the Avatar State would end the Avatar Cycle" would be a moot point to most of the world, as I don't believe it was a known phenomenon. Regardless, Aang dying means that the next Avatar would've just been born (to the Water Tribe), and wouldn't be of any significance for several years. Aang's death would've meant the end of any hope for Avatar support, whether or not the Avatar Cycle had ended.
I'm sure someone has pointed this out but of all the brilliant cuts this show does I love the cut between Katara and Hakota in a display of emotional honesty and unconditional love, and then Zuko and Ozai where Zuko is lying to himself and Ozai is only accepting of his own son because of specific actions that Ozai wanted from Zuko
All hail Princess Alicia, the Clever and the Beautiful! I think Azula was just being genre savvy and realizing that if she didn't have the avatar dead in front of her, then there was always a chance he could come back. He's the AVATAR after all. And she saw how zuko paused and thought before saying no, and even if she believed him, the fact that he paused meant that it was POSSIBLE that there was some sort of avatar trick zuko didn't think of.
Zukos banishment wasn't public knowledge only those generally outside the fire nation knew, it would have been dishonorable to have it publicly known he was banished, mowt likely they were told he was sent to fight in the wars to build character or something.
I think we've only seen Aang shave his head once, but it did confirm that he shaves. I believe it was in the Tales of Ba Sing Se episode when they were getting ready for the day, before Katara and Toph went to the spa.
It's about time Princess Alicia your tears for this show mimicked my own and fuels my jaded heart to feel once again. I wish nothing but good fortune to you.
Just like how Zuko and Iroh got rid of their Fire Nation identity in the first episode of Season 2, Aang got rid of his Air Nomad identity in the first episode of Season 3.
Misses a heartbreaking scene of the mother and father with baby Hope witnessing their last bastion of peace being invaded by the Fire Nation all cause she’s simping for a character. Ah yeah, it’s good to be back. Lol
23:38 That's Mark Hamel by the by. He also does the voice of the Joker in a lot of Batman stuff including the recurring roll in the 90's batman cartoon. Oh, and lets not forget he was Luke Skywalker...OH YEAH, Alicia hasn't seen Star Wars, lol. So I guess that wouldn't matter to her.
I really have to constantly remind myself that Azula is 14. The same age as Katara. The writers just make you forget that by the way she acts, talks, does. She's ruthless and amazing but so aweful at the same time hahaha!
would have been funny as hell if Aang leaned closer and then Sokka is like: "Asante Sana Squash banana, Wewe Nugu, Mimi Hapana" during the whole "I have a secret" line.
The scene with Toph metalbending the ship ramp made me think: how awesome would it have been if she had been there back in that prison rig at sea all the way back in Book 1. "There's nothing to bend to escape" and then Toph just wrecks the place with Metalbending, maybe with a snide "Amateurs" comment.
Someone might already explain this but the arrow is actually just a tattoo, its not a mark that he can lose, his Avatar state just happens to light the arrows up because I guess there's something spiritual about the arrows, could be related to Qi or something that he does with the Guru. and the hair is yeah, he's been shaving all these times, its like a monk thing since all these times he's still following the teachings of monks and never straying from that, which the monk aspect of Aang will really shine this season
13:30 yeah, normally Water Tribe has Blue eyes, Earth Kingdom has Green or Brown eyes, Fire Nation has Yellow or Orange eyes and Air Nomads have Gray eyes but there's some exceptions, like Ty Lee who's from the Fire Nation and has Gray Eyes
Gotta say. Among all the other reasons this season is fantastic, i feel like you're gonna love getting to see the babies showing their skills now that theyve really come into their own (not even a spoiler, we already get to see some of it between the end of last season and this episode alone).
All hail to Princess Alicia, Clever and Beautiful, who has returned from her travels battling massive mechs and JoBros! So hyped you're back to Avatar. Fair warning, this season doesn't pull any punches.
@@BLeePrit Man frick that hate Korra is great yes it had some things which could have been better but people act like it is the worst thing ever which it truly is not. You can also see what happend after this series, who got kids, what the new Avatar has to do etc.
I actually don’t think Azula knows the Avatar is alive at this point, she’s just smart enough to hedge. She’s just as happy to let Zuko take the blame (if he’s dead) as she is to have him as an indebted ally in the imperial family (if he’s alive).
4:41 Alicia being a dissaproving mom who found out her baby boy is going out with the gloomy goth girl. 🤣 Ps: Yeah alot of people like Jin more than Mai.
Yes, Princess Alicia the clever and beautiful, Aang has shaved his head for years. I think there's even an episode that shows him doing it for his morning routine.
Sokka, Katara, Zuko, and Azula: "It would be great to have some more siblings." Alicia: "Allow me to introduce myself..." I probably shouldn't post this. I apologize for my sense of humor... which sucks.
Uhmm... Princess Alicia? Can we address the fact that baby boy was standing on them hot rocks, barefoot, when he lit the stick on fire? CAN WE GET THIS BOY SOME SHOES NOW!? Please!?
Alicia after someone talks trash on Iroh: *Death. Death to you.* Alicia after Azula manipulates Zuko: oh my god... That's so smart! Good job girl! Me: yeah same

one of the most memorable VA moments in this show for me. Katara's pain felt so real
To contrast Zuko being forced to face the man who burnt off half his face, we are presented with Hakoda, *an actual good father.*

Zukos banishment wasn't public knowledge only those generally outside the fire nation knew, it would have been dishonorable to have it publicly known he was banished, mowt likely they were told he was sent to fight in the wars to build character or something.
Aside from burning it, he also plants his "flag" on fire nation territory, almost as if he declared war officially.
Finally getting close to current 😊, side note the dynamic switch between Zuko and aang regaining honor is (chefs kiss)
Glad we waited for your return to Avatar, Princess Alicia, clever and beautiful, conqueror of disease and overall badass!
Princess Alicia, clever and beautiful, continues on tearbending her way forward.
would have been funny as hell if Aang leaned closer and then Sokka is like: "Asante Sana Squash banana, Wewe Nugu, Mimi Hapana" during the whole "I have a secret" line.
The real Uncle Iroh is the friends we made along the way
Notice how the heartfelt expression Hakoda dad scene is directly followed by the messed up expression Ozai dad one? Theme-ing galore.
"He's got the hottest voice of all time". That's Mark Hamill AKA Luke Skywalker's actor, aka famously the most iconic voice of the Joker.
IMO this is the best season of the show. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
That scene with Azula in her bedroom awoke a fair bit of kids to being down bad for girls who beat the shit out of them and degrade them....
Ah yes, Alicia, the cleaver and beautiful has graced us with season 2!
Oops, meant to say Book 3!
Haha, I've seen reactors side-eye the Mai/Zuko coupling, but you're the first one I've seen bring up "girl-next-door" Jin.
Gotta say. Among all the other reasons this season is fantastic, i feel like you're gonna love getting to see the babies showing their skills now that theyve really come into their own (not even a spoiler, we already get to see some of it between the end of last season and this episode alone).
The sheer contrast between Hakoda and Ozai *chef's kiss*
All hail to Princess Alicia, Clever and Beautiful, who has returned from her travels battling massive mechs and JoBros!
So hyped you're back to Avatar. Fair warning, this season doesn't pull any punches.
The fire lord is played by the same actor who played as Multiple Jokers, Luke Skywalker, and many more characters, Mark Hamill
13:19 How am I only NOW realizing that's ALSO Mark Hamill?
I'm a grown ass man and Katara talking to her father never fails to turn me into a blubbering mess.
I'm glass you cane back to it, really enjoy your reactions to the show
4:15 They were together even before the whole banishment thing, they just rekindled now.
Alicia! You really need to see the legend of Korra, the sequel of Atla, it's a great show, it has its flaws but still great, you're gonna love it
As much hate as the show gets, every reaction channel I’ve seen that watched Korra loved the show.
@@BLeePrit Man frick that hate Korra is great yes it had some things which could have been
better but people act like it is the worst thing ever which it truly is not. You can also see what happend
after this series, who got kids, what the new Avatar has to do etc.
FR FR!!!
I actually don’t think Azula knows the Avatar is alive at this point, she’s just smart enough to hedge. She’s just as happy to let Zuko take the blame (if he’s dead) as she is to have him as an indebted ally in the imperial family (if he’s alive).
Her name is Jin and yes Jin is best girl for Zuko.
I think Azula wasn’t sure so she used him as a shield or a safety button to safe her butt if he is still alive
Zuko finally getting that Thumbs Up from Daddy Joker.
4:41
Alicia being a dissaproving mom who found out her baby boy is going out with the gloomy goth girl. 🤣
Ps: Yeah alot of people like Jin more than Mai.
Lol. But.. Zuko for sure makes sense with Mai.. Personality, upbringing etc. They make a lot of sense and do really like each other
@@CrazeeAdam Plus, as we see @9:31, it's not like he had a chance with Jin after that.
That’s the thing about Azula, she’s always five steps ahead of everyone else
Yes, Princess Alicia the clever and beautiful, Aang has shaved his head for years. I think there's even an episode that shows him doing it for his morning routine.
Yeah! The Return of avatar let's go!
In case nobody told you Firelord Ozai is voiced by Mark Hamill. Aka the 90s animated joker and Luke Skywalker
At this point I think Alicia (Clever and Beautiful) has a type and it's called "Evil Daddy". Or at the very least "Bad Boy Daddy".
"I'm crying... I'm snotting..."
lol. Yeah, me too.
😄
Sokka, Katara, Zuko, and Azula: "It would be great to have some more siblings."
Alicia: "Allow me to introduce myself..."
I probably shouldn't post this.
I apologize for my sense of humor... which sucks.
Azula with her hair down and without lipstick got me acting up with those bedroom eyes
Uhmm... Princess Alicia? Can we address the fact that baby boy was standing on them hot rocks, barefoot, when he lit the stick on fire? CAN WE GET THIS BOY SOME SHOES NOW!? Please!?
Toph: "Shoes are for the weak!"
If you didn't know the voice of Fire lord Oazi is Mark Hammel Luke Skywalker and the joker
Alicia after someone talks trash on Iroh: *Death. Death to you.*
Alicia after Azula manipulates Zuko: oh my god... That's so smart! Good job girl!
Me: yeah same
Mark Hamill is the best I love when he voice's a villain
This didn’t pop up in my sub box yesterday rip but glad to see that ATLAs back! Can’t wait!!!
@5:48 they didn’t need to make Hakoda so damn fine… but they did! Dilf lovers rejoice
It broke my heart that Zuko betrayed Iroh, but its necessary. He needs to see what kind of life he left behind, but through his humbled-viewpoint.
- "I'm not crying to a CARTOON!"
(c) Alicia
Glad to have you back on Avatar Princess Alicia
15:22 a mark of a good villain
Princess Alicia, clever and beautiful. I mean I figured that went without saying. As magnificent as she is wise. As beloved as she is teary-eyed.
Yeah I wish Zuko stayed with that Ba Sing Se girl as well. Also Azula looks SO good in her robe with her hair down.
The disrespect for my favorite ship Mai and Zuko, I'm hurt
Princess Alicia, Thirsty and Tearful; Ozai's voice actor is Mark Hamill. Do with that what you will. ;P
Avatar is back!!!
You really love to see it
