I’ve been playing a year. Almost everyday. Just wandering the mountains. With friends, sling down slopes and doing other stupid shit. This is one of the most entertaining games I’ve played since For Honor.
I disagree. I've played the game for hours on end and it's still entertaining me. I do think the season pass is not the smartest idea, but you can get around it. you can still go off jumps and around the whole map and miss so much as you're rocketing down a mountain at a million miles an hour. I strongly dislike the paragliding but the wingsuit eliminates that issue. it may seem like a "one trick pony" at first but if you just give it a chance I promise you'll have a blast. it needs some work. 8/10.
Don't take this video as a guide to buying the game or not, he says you see it all within a couple of hours and that is far from true, he doesn't mention all the variety of challenges and mountain stories and that each mountain has it's own aspects, when you finally get to Mont Blanc or Denali you can look down at the others mountains and then you will know that it's worth the money and if you play with friends it's super fun too. This isn't just a sports game, if you love nature or mountains (like I do) you will absolutely love this game, because the feeling you get while standing on top of the mountain or while going down the mountain at almost 200 Kmh is incredible. I seriously recommend this game 9.5/10 game for me. :)
@@nedclarke23 and someone who got bored in a couple of hours clearly doesnt understand the idea of trick lines, uncovering new spots, transfers, hole in ones, lines etc, trying to get drags or your line you thought of, maybe even trying that nice nice impossible cork 3
Yes. There's a lot more to it than just tricks and challenges. My favorite part of the game is the exploration. I'm a huge fan of the alps IRL and I love exploring where no man has gone before. Steep really does the exploring bit wel and I really feel a sense of progession if I look at all the dropzones I unlocked.
yeah. he said that the dlc was the only way to unlock other sports but if you do enough races you can save up money to buy the sports and also, he said that it gets old quick even though they now have 3 different maps with lots of areas
I've been playing steep for around 4 years and am thrilled to learn people are still buying the game. Because of the much more realistic features than other sport games I find steep is much more appealing to irl skiers/snowboarders and if you are interested in riders republic I suggest you watch lots of gameplay first as it is much less realistic and the gameplay is designed for treating it as a normal video game rather than a simulator. If you are also interested in MTB but prefer a more realistic experience then I highly suggest the game descenders
i don't think this game is really meant for playing 4 hours in one go, this is more of a relax game that you play between 2 hardcore game sessions imo..
You can get 'snow Moto racing freedom' and I enjoy it. I bought it a while ago on a budget as I have been gagging for a decent snow game, now steep is out on plus, well, double stoked :) it's been a long time since ssx and amped!
I don't get it. You guys pay the full price for unfinished games (AC, Battlefront, ...) and don't even complain. And with steep you get a solid sports game and everyone is like "uh I'm not paying full price"...wtf
*gamer wizard* When a game has a season pass and the developers know exactly what's in the season pass shows that the game is *still* unfinished. That's always been the case for all games in these past years and so forth. The fact that they know exactly what's in the season pass shows that they chose to put off content from the main game on purpose and release it to the public at a later date when enough ppl have bought the season pass just to charge you for more money for the so called *"Extra Content"* that's coming into the game as *"DLC"*/*"Expansion"*. They even show you what's in the *"Season Pass/DLC/Expansion"* with the complete list of what's in it. That right there is a red flag that shows that they pulled things from the main game just so they could sell them off for an additional cash grab from their consumers.
Jared Strife no that means they know what they are going to add Jon the game for doc that doesn't make it unfinished if a game has a story , an ending, characters, and gameplay then it's finished
This actually makes me very angry, obviously this guy hasn't played the full extent of the game. If he did then he would have included the mountain stories, the variety of challenges, and the FULL scale of freedom you have in the game. I mean seriously you can go anywhere you want using the walking feature and helicopter tickets (which were not mentioned). Also not to mention you don't just "see it all" after a couple hours of gameplay, each mountain is designed with its own unique aspects and layouts to give you a whole new experience in each mountain you visit. Anyone who is reading this comment just remember that this is a very biased video and a very dull and vague analysis of what the full game has too offer, there is so much more to the game then he or I have said so please do more research before you buy the game.
UnDeAdKiLLa1126 and remember they are adding two free maps that are gonna be about the same size. I love the game personally. It's like with any game you gotta be into it to enjoy it. It's not for everyone.
Thanks for this comment , i wasn't gonna buy this game after watching the video but you have restored my faith in steep and also he did say those are first impressions but i can see why it you can be pissed off bout it
This game is way to fun for this review. Obviously it might not be a game you play all day but it's a game you might play after raging or getting exhausted of the game. The graphics are unreal great game.
I like to play Steep right before bed. It's not a shooter where I have to be on my toes, or a story driven game where my mind is trying to guess at where it's going while I'm trying to sleep. I agree, it's a perfect game to relax to. The sound of the snow and everything is great white noise. (pun intended)
well of course not, napkins are like 5 pennies a piece, but 60 bucks is a pretty standard game price tag. I mean that's what a shit ton of people paid for NMS....and that's a totally sweet game.
I personally found that steep is really addictive. All the different game modes and customisation really gives you stuff to do and feels really rewarding. I love all of the sports they let you play around with and really makes every level feel unique and different the huge mountains and parks give something for everyone to enjoy. With a big enphasis on beating past times and working your way up a leaderboard me and my friends are constantly trying to one up each other with score may that be points or time and really is enjoyable alone and with friends I bought the game ages ago and have had a blast playing it and I haven't yet bought any dlc which is surprising considering how many hours I have put in. The game gives you tones of skills to master and control over every trick you pull and gives you a but tone of customisation....... Like it's absurd, you can customise things like your skis to your helmet to the boots and even what's attached to your backpack. The game will give you endless hours of fun no matter which of the sports you focus on. A genuinely good game that is still enjoyable and content packed 3 years after release Props to Unisoft for making a great game and this video as it is a good video. Ow btw the graphics are "FUCKING MENTAL"
I can play Steep for hours on end. Day after day. It feels like an old school sports game, and I absolutely love it! I think it's worth the full price, but that's just my opinion.
I personally like such games, but paying full price and having to get the Seasons Pass go get the "full" game is way to expensive for such a game. I would spend max. 30 bucks for everything.
Nick Bosshard Its a bit like trials fusion when they made you pay EXTRA to get like the other 3/4 of the game. I mean it was fun, but it was just such a con in the end
Nick Bosshard I feel you man, 30€ and I would definitely get this game. Guess I'll have to wait a year or so for it to be on sale although you can already buy official keys to activate the game for 40€.
Nick Bosshard People are drastically clueless to what this game offers, it's a game that has limits in exploration, of course, but 30 dollars for a game isn't enough for a game like this, the company has a deadline and employees to pay, and money to keep servers running and overall huge bills and taxes to pay. Everyone can complain about how small it is, but it's jackshit reviewing if this many people think the game is small. You could get 100 hours+ on this game as a side-player, a laxed game if you played it after a few insane matches on say, overwatch or battlefield. It's not a game you can play 6 hours straight and get good high off it. People need to understand that the world runs on money and thats not Ubisofts fault. If anyone wants to complain look on how sega and n64 games costed 60-80 dollars back then. To sum it up, it's a full game and if its not a game for you dont complain about the fact that the price is too steep for your paycheck. Play it if you think you'd enjoy it, don't put the company down for doing what it's supposed to do, live on a decent paycheck.
Comments are 90% salt or hate. As for the opinion you asked for, I love this game. We've gone a loooong time without a decent snowboarding game. Especially one that focuses on realism. Id kill for an SSX3 remake, but this isnt like SSX. This is different, and thats not a bad thing.
It's weird how many people dislike this game... in my opinion I feel it's as fun as GTA. I know a lot of people will disagree with me but I really enjoy it
mcnet if you have a PS4, you probably already have PS plus as it’s required to play online. It’s pretty much free considering you can download a few free games every month as an added bonus for online services. As for the console graphics, most casuals don’t really care about frame rate especially if they’re used to playing on console
@mcnet Look, I agree that PC is the best way to play games, there really isn't an argument there. What I will tell you is that it is a lot easier for the average person to pick up one console, pay $60/year, and have ONE launcher for all your games. That's it. You turn it on, open the game, and play. On the other hand, that same person could go pick up a good PC at a heftier price, have to download several different launchers for his/her games, download discord, etc. and it just isn't as appealing to the mainstream market. They just don't care about $60/year
It depends, do you like video games? I might like to shoot stuf but not like FPS cause i may not like shooting games... do you like sport/adrenaline games?
I played the Open Beta for hours, it didn't get boring you know? I got like milion medals of free ride cause I just didn't go on lots of challenges, just went down the mountains lots of time, even made some challenges (it's really fun when you find a nice path to create a challenge), I love the customization, I had this tiger costume and pink skies cause I like the weird looks. GoPro view has a perfect sound quality, you can hear the character brathing, wind and stuf on GoPro's microphone, it's amazing, but hard to control. REALLY recomend the game, and I heard a lot of people who snowboard on real life are tended to like the game. If you decide to buy add me on Uplay: CenoriBronze I'm going to buy the game as soon as the 20% discount thing works (it is bugged since last week).
I actually want this game. I'm being genuinely serious. I mean, personally, I get pretty tired of the chaotic multiplayer shooter games that are running the market currently. And I have had days where I just don't play any multiplayer games, and just play singer player ones, like Fallout 4 and No Man's Sky (supposedly NO Man's is multiplayer, and yes I did get it....... not regretting it though 😋) but even those games are limited in content. This seems like a blend of it all, a chill single player game, mixed in with chaotic multiplayer (if you're racing with friends and everyone is just messing around) once I have money saved up I will define lay get this game (I will be getting Overwatch, Battlefront, and For Honor... I will hold off on Battlefront for a bit longer because I really am looking forward to Battlefront 2 if they are making it, and I've heard Battlefront is really grindy) Anyways, Steep looks like an interesting game, and I will definitely be thinking about it for weeks to come. Here's a cake 🎂
I actually really like this game. I find it very relaxing to just ski around or chill with friends. However I wish it had an additional Arcade option so you could play it more in the style of Amped or SSX to do over-the-top tricks.
This game looks so fun, this is a game I wouldn't buy for full price, but it's one of those games where I'd mute the tv and plug in my music and jam out while snowboarding, I'm a fan of these types of games as well as skate I would love for them to bring those glitchy messes of games bag
This game is honestly a serious part of my childhood in 2016 me and my best friend played days worth of time on this game. Even before the more recent updates the game was amazing. 4 hours wouldn’t even begin to scratch the surface. I love gameranx and think Jake is a great journalist but this one is a bad take, and yes it’s still awesome in 2024
TeqHDcasper yeah i agree i snowboard my self and i'm more of a freestyle park type rider (man made ramps and half pipes etc.) my biggest thing with this game is why do they not have more than 1 park? I have 4 hours on record with this game and the only big park i found was the tutorial one :P
Generic FPS Game: Unlockable weapons.. ..Season Pass gets you new maps = "10/10 IGN" Steep: Unlockable equipment and clothing, future new maps will be free for everyone (and they are not the same as FPS games maps in terms of size).. ..Season Pass gets you new sports = "BS! WTF Ubisoft! 60$!?" I see now why good games servers are constantly being closed.
I stopped per-ording games when the included bonus was just something simple like an added skin for in single player. If they have extra missions included, I would per-order it (its nice having a little extra scripted game-play sometimes). Other than that, I am perfectly happy to wait a bit to see if the game is really good or not, especially after waiting for No Man's Sky for years only to be let down (it is still a fun time waster, but other than that it is just plain). The only game I might per-order is The Last of Us 2, although I don't know if it will be close to what the first game was like.
Games have gotten more expensive to make. People want more realism. Longer games. More modes. It requires more tech.$$$ Longer hours. $$$ Bigger teams.$$$ Sound design$$$ I mean fuck. The credits in MK 1 had like 20 people. The credits in MK X has like 500 people. DLC is kinda necessary. Games can't stay $60 forever.
Erma Gurd I would call steep at release a full game. they are adding additional sports to it down the line, they just happened to mention what they were. there's nothing about the game that feels incomplete. I've enjoyed every minute of gameplay. the smooth and fast quick travel can lead to moments where you'll restart one challenge over and over for an hour just trying to add 100 points to a run of shave 2 seconds off your time. I haven't had a game I could pick up and enjoy instantly for however long I have to spend playing it in a very long time. I can see peoples complaints about the hame... but saying it's not finished or incomplete because they are adding to it is just silly. you don't think call of duty has the mp maps already planed out at the time the game comes out. only difference is Ubisoft announced what they'll be adding to the game.
I got this game in 2017 and spent so much time on it without the season pass. It is one of the best games I've ever played. It's good to just sit back and relax playing the 5 minute long tracks trying to find the best routes. You obviously don't get out of your house if you don't appreciate these winter sports
BIG skiing enthusiast and I have to say I Love this game, been waiting for years for something like this and its finally here. 20+ hours into the game and still amped!
I disagree. My friends and I had some of our best memories or biggest laughs in that game like crashing into each other, racing, glitches, having fun, doing tricks together, etc.... this game will probably forever be in my heart I’ve made friends on that game and my friends I already had brought us together because we had some competition, and a lot of laughs
I think this game looks really fun considering I'm into freestyle skiing but Ubisoft is quickly turning into my most hated developer. They are constantly ripping off their customers and releasing games that aren't finished. It's getting to be too much.
HALFRATS PS4 Are you kidding? RS6 Siege is one of the worst culprits. Ridiculously overpriced gun skins and charms. Not forgetting the incentive to pay money for new characters (5 dollars per character)
i am a freestyle snowboarder. and i love this game. im not into ssx. this game is simply the best winter sport game that is semi realistic. if you like to freestyle ski i recommend it. i trade off boarding and skiing quite a bit in this game and i love it. just in case you were still on the fence
"After 2 hours you get bored" FFS, I played the open Beta, yet I played it for its full time and had fun with it. What I didn't like about the open Beta though, is the fact they didn't implement the other mountains and more events.
A Random Crab It was a beta, they're never going to give you loads of stuff to choose from or do, that's the whole idea. They give you a chance to play part of the game (like a demo), in the hope that people will buy the full game, having many more people playing should help to find and iron out any issues/bugs etc that testers may have missed, as well as make tweaks to gameplay before release.
I think this game is amazing for the right customer such as someone like myself. I am obsessed with skiing. I can make several good arguments for this game but remember this is still rooted in my opinion. 1. The exploration is endless. I love going out and finding new lines to try and perfect. While doing a wingsuit challenge I started veering off to the left to fly and explore. I found a hole in the cliff and tried flying through it. Once I mastered that I found another, and another until I found like 20. I was able to string 7 into a sequence and make it into a challenge that no one I know can complete. It took hours for me to successfully do it in one run. I think about the amount of time that went into that, then I zoom out and look at the size of the portion of the map I'd explored and it was so tiny. There are so many lines for each sport out there it's almost infinite. It all depends on how into winter sports you are. 2. The different types of progression allow for all the playstyles and bridges the arcade style we know and realistic style people have wanted. You can do some outrageous cliff jumps and tricks that are fake as hell. You can crash hard a ton of times for points. Or you can take it slower and ride the mountain the way you would in real life and rank up the free ride progression. 3. The customization is great. I love being able to throw on my favorite pro's skis then go into go pro mode and throw down lines that make it feel like I'm watching one of his RUclips clips. It's also just incredibly immersive for me in first-person. 4. Riding with friends is really easy and fun. Finding lines and challenging each other or racing is great. When chatting with my friend it literally feels like you're hanging out on the mountain with your buddy talking about which lines to hit next or checking out something you saw during the last run. I can continue but I think it's clear that my biases are why these things are so great in my eyes. These features may not float your boat and I totally get that, but for me, it's a 9/10 game. I absolutely love skiing, I'm addicted to it, (and video games) and haven't been able to ski since I wrecked and broke my hip and neck so this is a perfect fix to get me by until next winter. It's a nice relaxing break from more high-strung games, for me it's competitive matches in Rocket League.
Gotta disagree on this one, I feel the game only becomes repetitive and like you've "seen it all" only because you don't play in the competitive nature the game warrants. I know many people who get frustrated or just don't like the game because of its realism and force to practice. I do love SSX, however this game brings a new challenge which is more refined than arcade like games. Also if they added the intentional dlc in the initial launch, then what would they have to use for dlc... Outfits and maps :/ I do agree if your not into grinding to get gold medals or not into a competitive style extreme sports game, maybe it's not for you. I do still think though it's definitely worth trying out. I enjoy the hell out of it.
Bas Bastiaansen doesn't stop it from being a fun game? And actually I can't remember who did it but there was a stream of it and one of the guys has been skiing since he was a teen and he said that felt very realistic
Jamie Sturd lmao, skiing is probably the worst in the game when it comes to realism. In the tutorial, you have to pop WAY to early when going over a ramp. The sense of speed is all wrong: going uphill loses way too much speed, not just a bit but way too much. There is a awful 'speed' limit, you won't fall or have any problems whatsoever when going straight off a steep slope, untill you reach a specific speed and you'll fall and die. I could go on and on, there are tons of tings I can bitch about. There ain't much fun in a game like this when there are so many design mistakes.
Diego Ruiz they'd need better trails then too. I've only played on ps3, but the trails were pretty basic. newer versions just have more grass as far as I can tell
Nabre Labre Yeah, the mountains are very badly done in GTA V but you might like to know that there are a few good unmarked trails going down Mount Chiliad. They do not show up in the map but are very clear and can be fun with the mountain bike.
I played the beta, I believe I made all the jumps of the game, I spend like 30 hours playing it, I like it a lot, its a nice game, but know that I know that it has a season pass with more sports, meh, I will wait until the game has a 50% off
That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. You like it but you're not getting it now because of the season pass? The full game is the same as the beta but bigger and with more stuff to do, even without the dlc sports. The gold edition (with season pass included) really isn't much more expensive. Also, what do you mean when you say you made all the jumps?
That's the kind of game I play to chill out. Just some nice music, a drink and endless virtual shredding! And hey I paid the same price for worse games
i enjoyed the beta like alot it is similar to skate mainly skate 3 and thats what i enjoy in a game getting to free roam, gta5 is something else (and I dislike) i highly recommend it if you're into skate 3 i agree though that most would get bored of the game. i love the fact you get to customize your character with costumes and seperate clothing, the graphics are astonishing, the views when on top of mountains is what had me most excited about the game. so yea get it if you're into skate 3.
Judging by the very mixed response of people's opinion on this game ill give it a fair review. TL;DR: Game looks good but controls, gameplay and challenges are bad. Don't buy. Beware: Ssx comparisons! I played Steep when it was free on playstation plus in January. I'm a completionist and I did manage to get platinum on this game so no, I didn't just play it for a couple of hours. I poured probably closer to 30 hours into the game, and straight away I'm just gonna say I HATE this game. If you're ever planning to finish this game 100%, don't bother cause you won't feel any sense of accomplishment. But I will mention what I liked, disliked and why. I'll start off with what I enjoyed about Steep. The mountains are beautiful. Even on console the graphics are really good and the game has a great atmosphere. Rendering distance is also good and visuals are pretty much top-notch. Steep is a very good looking game and in my first 5 minutes I was pretty impressed. When riding you can always look back at your run with the replay which is very good. Since the game has almost no loading screens you can instantly replay your run, and the slow-mo works well. Being able to also view from a first person perspective is a plus. My only complaint about the replay is that you can't change weather/ambience and you can't set up a dolly camera/stationary camera in the replay. The camera always follows your player which is a shame. I would've loved to place a camera in the middle of a steep hill and watch as my character whizzes by the camera, which brings me to another thing I like about Steep; speed. The best thing about Steep gameplay wise is how freaking fast you can go down hill. This is what I found the most fun in the game. Just going balls to the wall down mountains however, I do really miss a speedometer. Even Ssx3 which came out in 2003 had a speedometer (not a very accurate one, but it made the game more fun). Clothing varieties and fun costumes are cool but lack the ability to just change colors and the last thing I can say I really like about the game is how fast you can retry challenges. Hold down the triangle button and BOOM! Back at the beginning. No messing around in menus or anything. Now for the critique. This will be a pretty comprehensive list of everything I found annoying and unnecessary about Steep. Let's start off with well, starting the game. I mentioned Steep has almost no loading screens and yeah, almost no loading screens in-game but starting the game up takes what seems like forever. I didn't time it but I wanna say it's about 2 minutes just to load up which is pretty bad for a modern game. Next up, controls. The snowboard controls ok when just going down a hill but the jumping and trick mechanics are horrible. You have you release the jump about halfway on a ramp and start a spin or flip before you're in the air. It blows my mind that nobody from Ubisoft though that this needed to be changed. The braking is also annoying as you almost always steer to the left or right when you try to brake (besides, who actually likes to grind down to a halt when going 200km/h+). The skis are similar but worse in my opinion as you lose a lot of speed just when steering. The tricks are very bland and gets old quickly as there aren't very many, just simple grabs, flips and spins. I get that this is supposed to be a more "realistic" sports game but it kills the fun-factor. There should have been a lot more tricks in the game and maybe a way to purchase new tricks or earn them for completing challenges. This brings me to the point of exploration or rather lack thereof. When going down the mountains you occasionally find small villages, glaciers, pillow fields, lakes and some houses. All the villages are empty, there are no people, no lights in the windows, nothing to look at and they all look the same. All the glaciers are the same, just a bunch of small jumps too close to each other. Frozen lakes are just sheets of ice you can't control your character on and pillow fields are just bumpy hills. The coolest places I found were the abandoned hotel, abandoned bobsleigh track and haunted resort. None of which were ever visited upon completing the 115 challenges in the game. Drop points are also a pain in the ass. You're supposed to pull out a pair of binoculars and search for drop points to find more challenges, but you have to be very close (1km I think) and the map is huge. You're better off looking up a guide on where the drop points are or wait until you are level 25 so you can freely fast travel. This game world lacks flow. When you go down a hill you'd expect there to maybe be a jump at the end but usually you just go straight into a wall or fall down so far you take damage or die. The game has no rails or stairs or fallen trees or anything you can grind. Real shame. If you've ever played an Ssx game you'd know how good map flow and rails makes the player never have to remember the layout or brake, but in Steep: "Oh, gotta slow down here cause a wall is coming" or "Gotta go left here cause on the right you fall 150 meters". You have to try all the paths to find out where you can and can't go. It's frustrating for new players. Challenges are weird. Some of them are too easy and some are way, way too difficult for casual play. (La Fieuse, Fallen Rocks, Flying Squirrel and Vallec Village were the ones I found the most frustrating). Spending 2 hours retrying an 18 second time trial is the worst way to make a game feel long. The game makes you think there are races but there are none. The "races" are just time trials with some npc's (ghosts) to show you how well you're doing towards getting gold/silver/bronze but you cannot interact with the other racers. You can't hit them, or slow them down or make them fall, and for some of the extreme challenges you dont even have them in the race which I think is because Ubisoft didn't even bother recording ghosts as the challenges would be almost impossible to finish before a ghost (La Fieuse and Fallen Rocks). The trick challenges are decent but again, some are absurdly easy and other are frustratingly difficult. The trick challenge I spent the most retries on was Glacier Hurdles which was not very fun as the glaciers have too many jumps too close to each other and dont let you build up speed. Let's get the elephant in the room sorted out, paragliding. Or as I would like to call it, paragrinding. It's slow and unintuitive to control. When all the other sports go blazing fast changing over to paragliding feels like a choir just to get the last trophies. To gain speed you need to fly close to mountains and NOT move up or down. You'd think maybe rocking back and forth would gain speed but it doesn't. The only way to move fast enough to get the gold on some of the paraglider challenges is to fly close to a mountain for the speed boost and only go left or right. I had to look up a guide to figure out why no matter how fast I was going I always lost the races. In short, paragliders are useless anyways since you can just fast travel up or down the mountain at will. Damage: You take damage when you crash or fall from a big height, it's indicated with a "g-meter" and it's a cool idea but begs for a rework. When you take damage the screen goes monochrome and you have a hard time seeing checkpoints if you're in a race. You also take damage just for riding on rocks which makes no sense. Sometimes you'll crash into what seems like nothing and looking back at the replay won't reveal anything, I'm guessing some hitboxes are just a bit too big. This was especially noticeable in the Flying Squirrel challenge where I had to fly very close to trees and I'd get ko'd in mid air. But what annoyed me the most about taking damage in Steep is having to watch your character slowly tumble down the rocks and knowing that you cannot do anything to stop him/her. There should have been a recovery system implemented so you can still have a chance at finishing a race just because you made one little mistake. In some of the later challenges you have to ride perfectly and one tiny mistake will mess up the whole run leading to a reset. Some quick mentions to other issues I had in the game are as follows: Music. I know everyone has their own music taste but I couldn't recognise any songs except these three: Freestyler, Rockstar and Ride of the Valkyries, the latter which was just played once in a mountain story and never again. Most of the songs were bad and I ended up just muting the game and listening to my own music. Mountain stories: Weird missions where you do various activities. Activities include, following someone who is so slow that you ride past them and end up too far down the mountain and unable to get back up, going to different coordinates so you can go to different coordinates, smashing some snowmen and wing suiting through some rings. There are 30 stories and about half of them are just following npc's that are really slow. Progression and levels: The game has no real sense of progression. When you level up all you get are cosmetic items and more challenges. There are no upgrades or skill increases in the game. Different clothes, skis and snowboards all have the same physics and stats. Online: The game is online only and I don't understand why. I saw some people in the easy races but as I started doing the hard challenges I never saw another player ever. So for about 85% of my game time I didn't see anyone. You can match up with someone but it really doesn't do anything. Other players move very choppy depending on your internet connection too. So here is my final verdict. Should you buy Steep? If you got it for free with ps plus play it for an hour or two but don't invest any more time as you'll feel ripped off from a free game. Fuck this game. I uninstalled it right after getting platinum and I will never touch it again.
I played it when it came out for free for ps plus ages back and decided to come back to it on my pc when I got my ps5 controller so I bought it, (the gold edition) played for about 5 hours today and also ended up buying the olympics dlc as well and what can I say. I have about 7 hours back on for my first time. Games changed so much and I’m happy to see it thrive
Oh god it really isn't. Snow is by all means still a good game but nowhere near Steep (saying as someone who got the game for free, so basically both f2p (incl. season pass)). Even though the jump mechanic is a bit questionable it is less questionable than Snow. I also know he claimed the steep wasn't arcady but more like a simulator well he clearly hasn't been skiing it is a very arcady skiing game. And why do people hate paragliding, I fucking love it. Getting to the top of mont blanc with the paraglider is so relaxing and gives you this great feeling of accomplishment.
as a snowboarder this game has brought me through injuries and the off-season unlike any other game. Its trick system has true depth that does a fairly good job of mimicking the difficulty of throwing these tricks irl. It it endlessly enjoyable for me to get that feeling of shredding the mountain when i cant actually make it to the mountains!
I think if they made the game a bit more arcadey it would be so much better like reduce the gforce damage, give you more control over the paraglider, make the wingsuit fly a bit more than fall and make the tricks move faster.
There's a few weird things with the G-force damage... like rolling your snowboard over some rocks at low speed counts as G-forces and knocks you over after a few feet.
Dylan porter would be cool if there was like a difficulty setting like in skate 3, so the harder it is the less impact you can take. I personally like the more realistic style.
it's weird that they added base-building to No Man's Sky when the game is about exploring space, not squatting on one planet.... Even with the update, no man's sky is still shit.
It's 80% off right now (December 2020) on both Ubisoft and Steam. You can get all the DLCs and the entire pack for 6 quid. Absolutely worth it, especially at that price.
do not listen to this review!! this guy is bogus af!! this game is absolutely beautiful and the mechanics are spot on. this is well worth $60 even if you dont get sledding nobody wants to sled anyways. snowboard, skiing and the wing suit is why you play.. buy this game put on some really good music and just ride down the mountain. what else could you ask for in a game about riding down mountains. buy buy buy!!!
I must have put over 10 hours into the Beta's and I like it a lot, I can see why people don't and I don't think I will buy it at full price either. But I will definitely buy it and put a lot of time into it
Too bad this just had to be OK. We could really use more extreme sports games these days, and by the way the reviews are going, I don't think this game will suffice for long enough till the next big title that isn't EA sports or something like that
MrUnknownSoldiers m just saying no one seems too excited or happy for this, unfortunately. If u can send me a link to a positive review that isn't about the beta then I'd be happy to be proven wrong
OK, so this is really annoying, he sounds extremely (idc about being somewhat bias but he was over the top) bias. I personally love this game, i ski and snowboard every week and this game just really is what i wanted. If you ski or snowboard I HIGHLY recommend this game. Sure it can get boring but just dont play hours on end. Sorry for kinda being hypocritical but i think someone who relates more to the game will write a more accurate review
i disagree i can play this game for hours its so addictive and the graphics are unreal, really good game and ubisoft deserve credit
Do you still play the game?
I’ve been playing a year. Almost everyday. Just wandering the mountains. With friends, sling down slopes and doing other stupid shit. This is one of the most entertaining games I’ve played since For Honor.
You said the graphics are unreal but they are super realistic. 👍
vIMONST3RIv agree
Nolan Gorman "un real' also means "so good it cant be true"
Yes
it has got alot better since this was commented
It’s a $30 game with all the content added in the past few years since its release, like every Ubisoft game, they get better with time
i like steep it a good game
UnitLime bro it’s bin 3 years and now this games lit
Alexander Balesini thank you now I have my decision!
you are so right :D
@@nedclarke23 and someone who got bored in a couple of hours clearly doesnt understand the idea of trick lines, uncovering new spots, transfers, hole in ones, lines etc, trying to get drags or your line you thought of, maybe even trying that nice nice impossible cork 3
Agreed
thx papi
I feel like he didn’t quite give the game justice
@@harryjoyce9324 Was considering picking this up. Glad to see that there are still active players
@@LegitEthan yeah it's a really good game and also it is not payto win

I just got this game about a week ago, and I'm glad I listened to the comments of this video rather than the video itself. Hours of fun. 8.5/10
Could you tell me more bro ?
I've been playing steep for around 4 years and am thrilled to learn people are still buying the game. Because of the much more realistic features than other sport games I find steep is much more appealing to irl skiers/snowboarders and if you are interested in riders republic I suggest you watch lots of gameplay first as it is much less realistic and the gameplay is designed for treating it as a normal video game rather than a simulator. If you are also interested in MTB but prefer a more realistic experience then I highly suggest the game descenders
Perfect game to put on an audiobook or podcast on while playing. It manages to be both chill and adrenaline inducing at the same time
i don't think this game is really meant for playing 4 hours in one go,
this is more of a relax game that you play between 2 hardcore game sessions imo..
ruben Maesfranckx true, thays sometimes what I do
Good thinking bro
I can play all day
ruben Maesfranckx just played for 4 hours it was fun
DumleJäätelö do you know how to play with friends
this game is unreal, love it. i think they should add snowmobiles and it would be perfect
You can get 'snow Moto racing freedom' and I enjoy it. I bought it a while ago on a budget as I have been gagging for a decent snow game, now steep is out on plus, well, double stoked :) it's been a long time since ssx and amped!
How about zamboni races?
That would be wicked
Just wait for Riders Republic
well if they made a new map just for snow automobiles snow mobiles could work but that would be lots of work for them
I don't get it. You guys pay the full price for unfinished games (AC, Battlefront, ...) and don't even complain. And with steep you get a solid sports game and everyone is like "uh I'm not paying full price"...wtf
Dr Klenk AC is a finished game and every single game is fun as hell and battlefront is also a finished game
yeah sure ;)
Dr Klenk ok so what is it missing
UnDeAdKiLLa1126 totally agree
Thanks for this comment , i wasn't gonna buy this game after watching the video but you have restored my faith in steep and also he did say those are first impressions but i can see why it you can be pissed off bout it
Agreed!
Preach!! He's just salty
If you played the beta, you played the whole game
Like destiny
Jon Man if you own destiny you know that's not true.
Actually, 50%
Ryan Helms by saying like destiny he means that every single mission is doing the same objective on different maps well that's what I think he means
Nah not at all. hahahaha
(pun intended)

gets some friends, have a beer or three, and challenge each other....the laughs and fun from that moment is worth the money.
side note....when did 60 bucks become a lot of money? learn to generate the income you need for the lifestyle you want.
I'd like some napkins for my dinner table. Doesn't mean I'm gonna $20 for a single fucking napkin.
well of course not, napkins are like 5 pennies a piece, but 60 bucks is a pretty standard game price tag. I mean that's what a shit ton of people paid for NMS....and that's a totally sweet game.
Mike Lord $60 is a standard game price tag for a game that has a lot to it. This is a good game, but not a $60 game. More like $40 at the most.
Very true this game overall is just a good laugh with heaps to do

A genuinely good game that is still enjoyable and content packed 3 years after release
Props to Unisoft for making a great game and this video as it is a good video.

Nick Bosshard for the full game and the extra sports I would give around 45 or so. I would wait for it to go on sale to buy it in its current state
Nick Bosshard I feel you man, 30€ and I would definitely get this game.
Play it if you think you'd enjoy it, don't put the company down for doing what it's supposed to do, live on a decent paycheck.

mcnet if you have a PS4, you probably already have PS plus as it’s required to play online. It’s pretty much free considering you can download a few free games every month as an added bonus for online services. As for the console graphics, most casuals don’t really care about frame rate especially if they’re used to playing on console
mcnet you’re just mad you don’t have a PS4 lmao
@mcnet Look, I agree that PC is the best way to play games, there really isn't an argument there. What I will tell you is that it is a lot easier for the average person to pick up one console, pay $60/year, and have ONE launcher for all your games. That's it. You turn it on, open the game, and play. On the other hand, that same person could go pick up a good PC at a heftier price, have to download several different launchers for his/her games, download discord, etc. and it just isn't as appealing to the mainstream market. They just don't care about $60/year
mcnet so you’re telling me that more people play games on PC than console? because that’s wrong
Ohhh look another "gamer" arguing about what platform is better. Idek want to call gamer or gaymer
So I am a big Snowboarder, I go snowboard for 9 hours every Saturday kind of snowboarder, would I like this game?
It depends, do you like video games? I might like to shoot stuf but not like FPS cause i may not like shooting games... do you like sport/adrenaline games?
Vitor Vieira I play video games all the time, loved all the Skate games.
Vitor Vieira Alright, thanks man. Glad I know what i'm paying for! I'll be sure to check it out.
Jaeger Brosi YES YES AND A DEFINITE YES
Fair enough haha
Everyone should already know by now, no pre-orders. The last game I pre-ordered was Fable 3, and that was the final straw for me.
I never even liked snowboard games, this is However AMAZING...the adrenaline rush and speed sensitivity is crazy
As a snowboarder this game is amazing and honestly very challenging.

BIG skiing enthusiast and I have to say I Love this game, been waiting for years for something like this and its finally here. 20+ hours into the game and still amped!
Glad you dig it!
A Bowl of Corn but you don't need those items to have a better experience in the game and the characters can be earned by playing the game
i am a freestyle snowboarder. and i love this game. im not into ssx. this game is simply the best winter sport game that is semi realistic. if you like to freestyle ski i recommend it. i trade off boarding and skiing quite a bit in this game and i love it. just in case you were still on the fence
I haven't found any bugs with the game Steep yet other than some glitches out rag doll physics when I hit avalanche stoppers
"After 2 hours you get bored"
FFS, I played the open Beta, yet I played it for its full time and had fun with it.
A Random Crab i think it's a good game but it's not gonna make so many people liked, but it's good.
you know what gets old pretty quickly? kids who think that they are video game reviewers that pick away at nothing just to whine
Pieter F I think he is talking about all the kids in the comment section saying shut up blah blah blah
But hes right. I bought the game and played for an HOUR and got bored
Me and my friends love to ski and we are having tons of fun
ya this is a game for skiiers it sucks so few people get to do it though
Iv played it at a friends it's amazing in my opinion but not worth a full game price
Jamie Sturd amazing? the physics and gameplay are very wrong.
Bas Bastiaansen yeah it's a great game in my opinion
Jamie Sturd It is very unrealistic, a disgrace to anyone who does any of these sports irl.
Honestly, from my personal experience, if you're a skier/snowboarder/paraglider then you'll fall in love with each aspect of this game!
i love this game, the atmosphere is beautiful, makes me want to go snowboard
this should be part of an extreme sports dlc for gta 5. all those empty mountains. ..
Nabre Labre but the only time there is ever snow is around christmas
The dlc would turn on snow obviously
If only they had done a better job with the downhill mountain biking...
I played the beta, I believe I made all the jumps of the game, I spend like 30 hours playing it, I like it a lot, its a nice game, but know that I know that it has a season pass with more sports, meh, I will wait until the game has a 50% off
I really like it, I was thinking of buying it on release, but well, not now, thanks ubisoft
I'll probably pick it up when I see it in the $1 bin :)
DJ Light lol yuuup my exact thoughts...
I love to ski and I go every winter to Las Leñas, so fuck your self little fat guy with no social life ;3
That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. You like it but you're not getting it now because of the season pass? The full game is the same as the beta but bigger and with more stuff to do, even without the dlc sports. The gold edition (with season pass included) really isn't much more expensive. Also, what do you mean when you say you made all the jumps?
here i am 6 years later and the game is now $8 at disc replay, so I am definitely buying this game!!
That's the kind of game I play to chill out. Just some nice music, a drink and endless virtual shredding! And hey I paid the same price for worse games
Exactly the kind of game to play, one for casual players and to relax to.
janowhatever exactly I like this comment
I hope the price drops faster than battlefront and goes on sale more than madden
i got it for christmas 2017 and it was 40 bucks and came with the dlc gameranx was talking about
Sleep - Before you buy
you are right in some ways but people who really ski and snowboard in real life it is super fun and i can play for hours
i enjoyed the beta like alot it is similar to skate mainly skate 3 and thats what i enjoy in a game getting to free roam, gta5 is something else (and I dislike) i highly recommend it if you're into skate 3 i agree though that most would get bored of the game. i love the fact you get to customize your character with costumes and seperate clothing, the graphics are astonishing, the views when on top of mountains is what had me most excited about the game. so yea get it if you're into skate 3.
VenomousNuke hehe, *board* ... get it? Hehe
Taliyah ahaha
VenomousNuke but at skate 3 you are Abel to rail
iben henriksen you mean "grind"? but in steep you can fly and jump off hot air ballons which are higher than the mountains
I agree. Skate 3 was one of my most played games. so for christmas im hopefully getting this and skate 3 again as my old one broke.
“I was surprised how much it felt like skate” well say no more, Ubisoft you earned some money!
Some quick mentions to other issues I had in the game are as follows:
Music.
Last Of Us 2!!!!!!!!!!!!
Buster adamantium was just about to comment this!
Also crash bandicoot
Wooooooooooooooo
Hype!!!
Buster adamantium naughty dog could put any price tag on the last of us part 2 and I would pay for it
For more detailed review search for ''Steep - Worth a buy''. You'll laugh your ass off.
Do you want to pay 5$ for a T-shirt that only a handful of people will see? You can buy a descent indie game for that money.
SNOW is free on Steam and it feels better to play than this.
Thanks you good sir.
*rings bell*
Oh god it really isn't. Snow is by all means still a good game but nowhere near Steep (saying as someone who got the game for free, so basically both f2p (incl. season pass)). Even though the jump mechanic is a bit questionable it is less questionable than Snow. I also know he claimed the steep wasn't arcady but more like a simulator well he clearly hasn't been skiing it is a very arcady skiing game. And why do people hate paragliding, I fucking love it. Getting to the top of mont blanc with the paraglider is so relaxing and gives you this great feeling of accomplishment.
I think all the people who don't like this game have never actually done this stuff in real life like every year I go snowboarding
Those, who do it in real life prefer Infinite Air to Steep =)
ALBINO STUB those who don't like no man's sky have never done it in real life, like I go space exploring every year
As a frequent skier, the end of the vid had me saying, "wtf how?"
Rookie yeh I was like he obviously doesn't know what its actually like to ski or snowboard and how cool it is
Ven0m I think your wrong there
as a snowboarder this game has brought me through injuries and the off-season unlike any other game.
The g-force dmg is already very arcadey, the only issue I see w/ g-force dmg is when you are on rocks for some reason.
Dylan porter would be cool if there was like a difficulty setting like in skate 3, so the harder it is the less impact you can take. I personally like the more realistic style.
Then you should try Infinite Air, It has controls and physics rather similar to Skate.
i honestly got this game because i didnt want to play another sxx. i like the semi realism
4 years later, still playing this game
lol i was looking for a pc snowboard game so I'm here
I’m getting this ‘cause I ski, and I love skiing, so, I want to do it in the virtual world, too
I came back to this game to pass my time in quarantine and it's so addicting
Same here, I still love it, even if I do suck at the moment, it's just plain fun.
We can all disagree but at the end of the day no man's sky is till shit?
Shrek yep well the new update makes it not as shit but it's still shit
it's weird that they added base-building to No Man's Sky when the game is about exploring space, not squatting on one planet.... Even with the update, no man's sky is still shit.
yes it so is 'TILL' shit XD
No it's not.
Odd Mush it's OK it's just that they lied
Who said I am gonna buy it? I just got it for free on uplay.
The price is pretty "Steep"
*WHEEZE*
Habibi ba dum tssss
Habibi *HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA*
It's 80% off right now (December 2020) on both Ubisoft and Steam. You can get all the DLCs and the entire pack for 6 quid. Absolutely worth it, especially at that price.
do not listen to this review!! this guy is bogus af!! this game is absolutely beautiful and the mechanics are spot on. this is well worth $60 even if you dont get sledding nobody wants to sled anyways. snowboard, skiing and the wing suit is why you play.. buy this game put on some really good music and just ride down the mountain. what else could you ask for in a game about riding down mountains. buy buy buy!!!
its his opinion. while this is your opinion. 2 seperate matters.
no seriously buy this game!!!
Philipp ong his opinion sucks and he should not be giving it out
ghostriley1093 nobody cares what you recommend schpoad
that is, again, your opinion.
My heart sunk when you explained that there was a DLC.
Damn I was excited for $12 dollars on Xbox, but ps4 has it for free 🤧
If you actually ski or snowboard and understand the rotations and grabs you can do you will appreciate the game a lot more and it never gets old.
Im Just Waiting on SKATE 4 or a new skateboarding game..
Kyler Kazi you dont have to wait just go out buy a real skateboard and skate!
I must have put over 10 hours into the Beta's and I like it a lot, I can see why people don't and I don't think I will buy it at full price either.
But I will definitely buy it and put a lot of time into it
Glad you like it!
Screw you stop ruining games
Dan Theman ?
I was exited, now I'm not
Too bad this just had to be OK. We could really use more extreme sports games these days, and by the way the reviews are going, I don't think this game will suffice for long enough till the next big title that isn't EA sports or something like that
the reviews are very positive for this game. Don't know what you're on about?
MrUnknownSoldiers m just saying no one seems too excited or happy for this, unfortunately. If u can send me a link to a positive review that isn't about the beta then I'd be happy to be proven wrong
MUG MUG FREEMAN Only the 296 positive reviews on steam by users who have actually been playing it.
MUG MUG FREEMAN
MrUnknownSoldiers buuuuut it has a 7.4 score
I love to play steep for hours listening to chill music in the background or chatting with friends.
It's amazing, can't believe you don't like it.
Glad you like it though.
I playd this game 2-3 years and its still really funny
OK, so this is really annoying, he sounds extremely (idc about being somewhat bias but he was over the top) bias. I personally love this game, i ski and snowboard every week and this game just really is what i wanted. If you ski or snowboard I HIGHLY recommend this game. Sure it can get boring but just dont play hours on end. Sorry for kinda being hypocritical but i think someone who relates more to the game will write a more accurate review
