i like the concept of these streams, and i’m not saying you can’t have an opinion on things you haven’t watched yet, but maybe an Untiered row would be beneficial to put shows you haven’t seen. Feels weird to involve them in the ranking without even having seen their first episode
Literally don't know what people are talking about with the bleach cour 2 animation, the show all around slaps just as hard as last season and I'm so hype for what's coming 🔥
Im an advocate for duke of death and his maid. The chemistry and development of the relationship between the two is soo good. His sister and brother are both good side characters. I love the show. The animation was jarring at first but i got over it and love the story. I highly recommend at least watching the first season
Vinland Saga Season 2 was a masterpiece and imo the greatest social commentary in the history of anime. So far I’d say it’s the #1 of the year, even above Oshi no Ko.
@@hitachicordoba Same dude. That scene made me so sick in my stomach i had to drop a point. Would have been an 9, but that made it an 8/10 and G-Witch was am 8.5 for me so its above heavenly. Vinland Saga S2 is peak anime! And a modern classic
That argument works if you ignore the animation throughout the first half. That section of the manga is one of my all time favorite arcs, but the adaptation didn’t fully do it justice. Oshi no Ko also has top tier social commentary btw, even if it isn’t so explicitly marxian. So much of the praise for Vinland Saga 2 doesn’t mention the production at all, and considering that I can’t put it above Oshi no Ko.
there have been so many isekai recently that act like they're going to be about commerce, especially selling modern day things in the isekai world, and like all of them just stopped doing that after a couple episodes so it's the VENDING MACHINE anime that finally scratched that itch for me
As far as fully understanding bungo stray dogs goes, you only actually have to read Osamu Dazai's No Longer Human. Most of the other references are minimal beyond the surface. Maybe read some Fyodor Dostoyevsky (Crime and Punishment). Other than that the wiki pages (for the books, not the fandom character pages) will suffice.
If you ever have the opportunity to talk in depth about Link Click, I would be in your debt. Even just the OP and ED? I'd love your thoughts on it, as I love it :)
My take on Last Boss Queen's melodramatic emotionality is that the protagonist doesn't seem to be the Earth girl stuck in the video game princess's body, but more like a full merging of both of them into one person with neither set of memories or personality traits given primacy, so she's constantly freaking out because she has 20th century Earth normal person's frame of reference and sense of morality existing simultaneously with the sociopathic privileged noble's persona. She's constantly realizing "Holy shit, I still kind of want to do all this awful stuff, and I recognize that if I didn't have this extra set of memories, I would totally be doing it. I suck!"
She's not quite reached Aileen levels of being a new distinct person who is a fusion between her past and current self, but she is going along that path
The most recent episode finally had that aspect of it on display, where she's actively choosing to do things that her old self would find terrible and that's why she's concerned about turning evil still. However, waiting so long to establish that definitively means that when I watched her recruit the brother and the knight I was just laughing out loud at how cringe it was she was telling them to kill her. Like fr lady stop giving people permission to kill you it's bound to bite you in the ass. Unless she actually DOES turn evil and the show turns into the men struggling with their feelings of wanting to procect her vs wanting to stop her, which would be super interesting
Given the title of the show, I don't think that'll happen. I was reading about the Light Novels (not reading them, just reading about them), and apparently they have a unique writing shtick where absolutely every scene is delivered three times from three different perspectives -- first from the protagonist and then from other people who were there, so you get her angsty take on things and then everyone else's adoring take where they completely misunderstand her motivations. It makes the existence of the anime both more sensible and more baffling -- like, okay, the light novels are popular because they're doing this weird unique writing trick, and that popularity leads to the existence of the anime, but the weird unique writing trick that makes the novels stand out absolutely 100% does not translate into other media like an anime at all.
The Great Cleric is a smidge better than the first episode gives it credit for. It feels like it's going for a slow burn grind to Universal Healthcare more than a bog standard isekai.
Was going through all of the new shows from this season myself and didn’t notice I was using the tier list you uploaded. Thanks for that, it’s usually very hard to find good seasonal tier list formats, and I would need to make a Twitter account to make one myself…
"The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen" could be saved from her having unearned guilt just by having a throwaway line with her worrying about being "un-issekai-ed". Like, "what can be given can be taken away". Then she'd have motivation to make sure her inner circle is careful about following her potentially evil whims. Some good ideas that just weren't properly put in place. A real "you almost did it".
I think the issue is that it's sort of tapdancing on the line of isekai, as at this point it's unclear if the killed girl was actually isekaied into the body or if the villainess had visions of that life and seeing the way the game will lay out was enough of a wakeup call to get her to turn things around.
33:20 It's hard being a fan of this story, man. This was seriously the #1 most influential anime for me, the characters inspired me through so much, and it's just stained forever.
@@Sprightey Creator was arrested for possession of massive quantities of child pornography, and received only a small fine and no jail time because (we assume) he informed on his suppliers. Hence the necessity of an entirely new tier on the tier list for it.
Link Click definitely should be much higher in the Hanger list. It's my 2nd favorite after Jujutsu this year and only slightly ahead of Undead Murder Farce. Zom 100 and My Happy Marriage round out my top 5. I also can't put Dark Gathering that high, I think it's good but not great (not a fan of the character designs)
Hmmm... guy who is half oni with an immortal bodiless woman going to Europe and dealing with Vampires and Werewolves in the later 1800's. For some reason I feel like the main bad guy is gonna turn out to be someone like Victor Frankenstein.
Well his cane has the initial M and Sherlock Holmes has been name dropped so that all but screams Moriarty, but the show is smart enough that this goes with a high possibility of being a red herring
Mononogatari is one of those I really like, but "good" is probably the right ranking: The Tsukomogami concept makes for some cool concepts in fight scenes, there's some neat character stuff and comedy and it's just... competent. Not great, but I enjoy most of it.
The new BanG Dream is really proof that there is some utility in the three-episode test, not because the first two episodes are anything approaching "bad," but because that third episode is where the show really presents its thesis and emotional core. It was where I realised that I was watching a potentially truly great show rather than a merely good one, and so far it's been really strong since.
I'm shocked I haven't seen more discussion of the third episode online. Aside from the brief intro scene, it stands entirely alone as an exploration of how someone clearly on the spectrum interacts with and views the world. I did not expect a band anime to have one of the best portrayals of a character on the spectrum, a serious character that everyone loves but just has difficulty interacting with, and never the butt of a joke. If you don't watch the rest of BanG Go, you need to watch episode 3
@@StormKidProductionsI completely agree with every word of this. I watched that episode with a close friend of mine, and by the end of it she was crying because of how ill-equipped she was to actually see her own experiences represented in anime in that way. It's just… it's a really good show about people working out their problems and making music together! I like it a lot! It also has this really dry, understated sense of humour which keeps the more melodramatic aspects from getting too overwhelming.
Unfortunately, I probably won’t we watching much this season as it’s sequels to stuff I haven’t seen or I would rather read the manga. I also have to catch up on HiDive shows from last season, and watch 2 seasons of PreCure, because I kinda want to get into that franchise, and it’s a good time as there’s a sequel to those two seasons next season, so this season is a break for me. So it will be an interesting summer.
Definitely agree on the Anime behind The Great Cleric. The LN is actually surprisingly good, though. Recommend people skip the anime, read the story. It's actually a pretty good high fantasy story that just apparently doesn't translate to this medium very well..
Bangdream Its mygo actually is very good. It is a band anime but not like K-on or bochi, there are more conflict and it is darker. Everyone has their own problem and the band is nearly disolved. its quite interesting.
There might be 4 or 5 bangers coming up in October if handled correctly. Undead unluck- unique power systems SHY- if my hero academia had less heroes and aspects of d.gray man enemies The apothecary diary- Maomao is the main female lead. Enough said (although I don't know where they're getting the costuming for her. Wasn't in manga) I forgot the rest
I like to call Liar Liar NNGNL, or NOT No Game No Life. I see people making the comparisons and understand that it's sort of like that on the surface, but being able to cheat in a completely unrestricted way is just stupid as fuck and makes any possible enjoyment of it fly out the window.
The problem with Devil is a part timer isn't the adaptation, it's the actual story. It works awesome as a comedy, but when it becomes serious is just so boring to watch
Reign of the Seven Spellblades is worth it? I watched only the first episode and found kinda trashy not gonna lie, the characters felt really tropey, especially the girl taking a bath naked in the fountain lol
This was my exact reaction to Seven Spellblades. I would love to hear if it gets better or where the praise is coming from, because the first episode really put me off.
ive seen the first 2 episodes and given how fast all the characters are suddenly best friends for no reason, with horrible random events occurring and lackluster characters atm it really feels like amateur level writing/pacing early on. i mean it could get better but tbh some of the worst first episodes ive ever seen. definitely not a banger atm, by far the worst take on his list.

The male MC of Undead Murder Farce reminds me of Dazai Osamu from BSD or No Longer Human in Another World. You should do a review of No Longer Human in Another World actually.
I wrote this in a reply to another comment, but here's a separate comment anyway: I watched the first episode of Yohane the Parhelion, and thought it was kind of mediocre but may have been building up to something interesting, even though all the pieces seemed like something that shouldn't be done all together or something was wrong about the recipe that my instinct felt, but in the name of intrigue I watched the second episode. It had this ridiculous turn that was promising, because ridiculous could be fun. I was still waiting and hoping for it to be something good which it seemed to be promising, even though it wasn't hitting yet. Then the third episode just left me the distinct conclusion that it's not going anywhere good, my brain went "This is a frickin toddler show, christ this is bad" and I closed it out and dropped it from my watch history to not see any further episodes. It's somehow like the children's shows I used to watch but written worse. I couldn't stand another minute.
You have to watch the second episode of Saint/Pastor to get it... still far from Banger, but they really messed up by not putting more hints in the first episode. I think it'll end up as good.
@@maje5842 He rightly has Horimiya as top tier. He's fine with romance anime and the first episode truly was misleading and not tremendously promising. "Okay" was a fair assessment.
One of my main issues with mushoku tensei is the main character. When he's shown as Rudy is mostly fine, but they keep reminding you that is his previous life this guy was, what, in his 40's? And then Rudy is a massive pervert who steals girls underwear and has s*x with his 15 year old second cousin. Then he makes a shrine for the underwear he stole from his teacher? I would be fine overlooking it if they didn't keep reminding you how old he was before he reincarnarnated. Honestly, it would be much easier to accept this if before he died, the mc was presented to be in his teens. You can still include a lot of his trauma, but that way, his perverted actions would be less distasteful. I really enjoyed the show, once I forced myself to overlook these points, but it doesn't change the fact it still bothers me. Rudy being a 40 year old man in his past life doesn't actually have a reason, he doesn't need to be that old, other than to enthasise how much of a pervert he is. (Personally, I would prefer one main female love interest, but spoiler warning, in the novel rudy ends up with 3 wives. Just personal preference, not something I hold against the show).
So is the first in trash the trashiest anime? I know that was the case with bad but i may have zoned out for that part. Awesome video as always! I usually pick most my shows and then watch MB videos to find other good shows that didn't pass my first check so I always enjoy your seasonal videos!
Sweet Reincarnation is definitely just Okay but it has a lot of potential. The concept of using OP adventurer powers only as a means to achieve their very different goal.
not watching much this season, just: Helck Heretical Last Boss (might drop honestly, sadly, it's just boring) Hirogaru Sky Precure (continuing from before) Mushoku Tensei II My Happy Marriage Pokemon Horizons (since the dub seems to be coming sooner than expected, might restart in dub) Reign of the Seven Spellblades Undead Murder Farce Zom 100 might still look into: Yohane, Saint Cecilia, Vending Machine - I don't have enough 'cozy' anime in my diet right now Undead Murder Farce is my anime of the season so far. Zom 100 is impressive, but I wonder if it can maintain that quality, and it's not my preferred genre. Undead Murder Farce is MY SHIT. episode two and three I was just pogging the entire time on mystery stuff. as a childhood Agatha Christie fanatic, lol.

It's refreshing. Thank you again ! Even better, I agree with everything but "Level 1 mahou" (definitely good) and "Dreamer boy is a realist", that I find more and more interesting with each episode.
I wanted this to be a comment, so I made it a reality. Geoff said the order of the bangers didn’t matter & I took that to heart.
Bangers:
Zom 100
Undead Murder Farce
Ooku: The Inner Chambers
Dark Gathering
Mushoku Tensei S2
Link Click S2
Jujutsu Kaisen S2
Bleach
Horimiya: The Missing Pieces
My Happy Marriage
Reign of the Seven Spellblades
link click is still criminally underrated, it's really once in a lifetime show
I didn’t know Geoff had a Twitch channel! Letsgo
i like the concept of these streams, and i’m not saying you can’t have an opinion on things you haven’t watched yet, but maybe an Untiered row would be beneficial to put shows you haven’t seen. Feels weird to involve them in the ranking without even having seen their first episode
I’ll try that next season
sounds good, looking forward to it! 😊
Ooh I didn’t realize Ooku was made into an anime! Very cool
A very good tier list ❤. My happy marriage is one of the best new anime this season.
Hey geoff! Leave hearth if you were blown away by Jobless reincarnation Spiral op! 🎸🎸🎸🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶
Kept thinking that Psychonauts art in the background was part of the tier list and was like "oh shit Psychonauts anime"
Thank you for another ranking video!!
Vinland Saga Season 2 was a masterpiece and imo the greatest social commentary in the history of anime. So far I’d say it’s the #1 of the year, even above Oshi no Ko.
agreed, and I'd put G-Witch at #3, slightly above Heavenly Delusion (was my AOTY until the end of ep 12 earned it an icky asterisk)
@@hitachicordoba
Same dude.
Link Click Season 2 come with a banger so far
there have been so many isekai recently that act like they're going to be about commerce, especially selling modern day things in the isekai world, and like all of them just stopped doing that after a couple episodes
so it's the VENDING MACHINE anime that finally scratched that itch for me
I wanted a lot more Parallel World Pharmacy from Sweets Reincarnation than we seem to be getting
Thanks for this breakdown/rating show.
I loved the original BanG Dream!, better IMO than K-on
Based AF finally a good tier list
I thougth i had every new anime worth watching on lock down but Link Click went over my head, thanks for bringing it to notice
The Great Cleric is a smidge better than the first episode gives it credit for. It feels like it's going for a slow burn grind to Universal Healthcare more than a bog standard isekai.
Interesting take thats for sure. Some animes i definitely dont agree with, but very enjoyable video!
Thanks for doing this
At this rate i needed a
"Watch"
"Watch if you have time lists"
"Dont watch, bad"
"Terrible isekai bad"
"Trash

It's hard being a fan of this story, man. This was seriously the #1 most influential anime for me, the characters inspired me through so much, and it's just stained forever.
what's the anime?
Rurouni Kenshin. In the garbage forever with it.
@@StephenLeaSheppard what's so awful about rurouni kenshin (I'm out of the loop sorry)?
@@Sprightey Creator was arrested for possession of massive quantities of child pornography, and received only a small fine and no jail time because (we assume) he informed on his suppliers. Hence the necessity of an entirely new tier on the tier list for it.
@@StephenLeaSheppard ahhh now I remember hearing that on Geoff's podcast,, thanks
Don't worry, you'll probably put Dark Gathering that high once the series picks up.
The thing is: the current season of Rent-A-Girlfriend is the movie arc: aka the one actually good arc in the entire manga.
Love your work man! Gonna check out your top ones!
Saw the glasses reaction before it was taken down, ayyyy I’m one of the cool kids with **special knowledge**
Question for any reading: For the new Jujutsu season, do we need to watch the movie first? Or is S2 directly after S1?
You mean JJK 0? If so, that's a prequel to the whole show so don't worry if you haven't seen it.
I wish Geoff streamed more often. He’s one of like 2 Twitch streamers I actually watch, but I almost never catch his streams
Hmmm... guy who is half oni with an immortal bodiless woman going to Europe and dealing with Vampires and Werewolves in the later 1800's.
Some of these look so good. Wish I had time to watch all the anime I wanted. 😢
Definitely agree on the Anime behind The Great Cleric. The LN is actually surprisingly good, though. Recommend people skip the anime, read the story. It's actually a pretty good high fantasy story that just apparently doesn't translate to this medium very well..
I’m enjoying Great Cleric. It’s silly trash.
Just watch BSD. Not a huge commitment, totally worth it
Bangdream Its mygo actually is very good. It is a band anime but not like K-on or bochi, there are more conflict and it is darker. Everyone has their own problem and the band is nearly disolved. its quite interesting.
a true man of culture. i appreciate it very much so
There might be 4 or 5 bangers coming up in October if handled correctly.
Undead unluck- unique power systems
SHY- if my hero academia had less heroes and aspects of d.gray man enemies
The apothecary diary- Maomao is the main female lead. Enough said (although I don't know where they're getting the costuming for her. Wasn't in manga)
I forgot the rest
Always jealous of that steamboat chronicles behind Geoff
YEEEES DARK GATHERING IN THE BANGER TIER!!!! BASEMENT LIFE IS SO FUCKING REAL FOR THAT!
I really liked The Devil is a Part Timer S2, personally.
Edit- Ok, this is a S2 PART 2! I hate when they divide up seasons and don't say anything!
I like to call Liar Liar NNGNL, or NOT No Game No Life. I see people making the comparisons and understand that it's sort of like that on the surface, but being able to cheat in a completely unrestricted way is just stupid as fuck and makes any possible enjoyment of it fly out the window.
Classroom of heroes have some dark undertone, it might have some plot twist similar to i quit heroing and joined the demon army vibe.
I looked at the art & figured it would be bad. Any time it's a majority girl cast it gets corny & sad with very few exceptions.
ive seen the first 2 episodes and given how fast all the characters are suddenly best friends for no reason, with horrible random events occurring and lackluster characters atm it really feels like amateur level writing/pacing early on. i mean it could get better but tbh some of the worst first episodes ive ever seen. definitely not a banger atm, by far the worst take on his list.
@@seapeajones "Any time it's a majority girl cast it gets corny & sad with very few exceptions." The main cast is 3 girls, 3 boys. -> I suppose in your head girls count more so it's a majority girl or something huh. Just in case you didn't realize : The gray haired character on the key visuals is a boy.
you HAVE to see link click season 2!!! shit goes down its so good
The male MC of Undead Murder Farce reminds me of Dazai Osamu from BSD or No Longer Human in Another World.
You should do a review of No Longer Human in Another World actually.
I wrote this in a reply to another comment, but here's a separate comment anyway:
I watched the first episode of Yohane the Parhelion, and thought it was kind of mediocre but may have been building up to something interesting, even though all the pieces seemed like something that shouldn't be done all together or something was wrong about the recipe that my instinct felt, but in the name of intrigue I watched the second episode.
Agreed. I gave it a try, couldn't get into it. I liked, really liked the talking dog though
Oh wow the Great Cleric got an anime, thats a throwback I read vol1 years ago.
You have to watch the second episode of Saint/Pastor to get it... still far from Banger, but they really messed up by not putting more hints in the first episode. I think it'll end up as good.
Best find another anituber to follow. This guy doesn't seem to like simple, wholesome romcoms.
@@maje5842 He rightly has Horimiya as top tier. He's fine with romance anime and the first episode truly was misleading and not tremendously promising. "Okay" was a fair assessment.
Masamune kun this season is actually pretty good. The twist that just happened is wild
That's fair it bothers me as well
Did you like The Witch from Mercury?
Yea, have yet to finish tho
Basement Life is dead, Long Live Basement Life. (Loved your OP/First Ep review, shame it got claimed)
Please please make this an ongoing series!
I saw the first two episodes at AX this year and yeah definitely gonna keep watching
So is the first in trash the trashiest anime?
I know that was the case with bad but i may have zoned out for that part.
Awesome video as always!
I usually pick most my shows and then watch MB videos to find other good shows that didn't pass my first check so I always enjoy your seasonal videos!
He can't see ghosts in Dark Gathering .He senses them.
Wholeheartedly agree on Tenpuru. Harems with top quality ecchi and actually funny jokes are hard to come by these days.
my tiny senpai is good
Boring
jujutsu kaisen flavour sounds extremely cursed
I just want to say that they did improve on the adaptation of Records of Ragnarok in season 2, the fights aren't like thor vs Lubu now...
54:19 Robots and a Kamen Rider in a fantasy world? Dammit, I need to watch now.
Sweet Reincarnation is definitely just Okay but it has a lot of potential. The concept of using OP adventurer powers only as a means to achieve their very different goal.
Sounds generic
not watching much this season, just:
Helck
Heretical Last Boss (might drop honestly, sadly, it's just boring)
Hirogaru Sky Precure (continuing from before)
Mushoku Tensei II
My Happy Marriage
Pokemon Horizons (since the dub seems to be coming sooner than expected, might restart in dub)
Reign of the Seven Spellblades
Undead Murder Farce
Zom 100
might still look into: Yohane, Saint Cecilia, Vending Machine - I don't have enough 'cozy' anime in my diet right now
Undead Murder Farce is my anime of the season so far. Zom 100 is impressive, but I wonder if it can maintain that quality, and it's not my preferred genre. Undead Murder Farce is MY SHIT. episode two and three I was just pogging the entire time on mystery stuff. as a childhood Agatha Christie fanatic, lol.
Love ya content
Play Atelier Thighza. It's really good in terms of JRPG mechanics. The anime is just a dessert for those who played the game.
Yay, you finally talk about Bastard!!! It's one of my unsung favs of all time, and while I'm glad it's back, I feel that the animation is kinda average, sadly. Deserves much better.
Ooku is so good. But it is also terribly underrated. Noone ever talks about it.
