KIA was making good decision i dont know who told them south Africans have money now two airbags for 400 000 yho amazing review as always sebuwa thank you
😭😭, I understand where you coming from, fully so. Kia sells but they need to be aware that the market is shifting. Thank you so much😊🙂. Sorry I am late!
There is a good reason the Sonet 1.5CVT is so popular. It really is an amazing drive. I have the new LX CVT, and at the coast, I cannot complain about the power. It is not super nippy but I feel it has just enough power. And I drive mostly on my own.
I drove the Sonet 1.5 CVT for a few thousand KM’s in a rental, really smooth and solid drive, but can feel reluctant when overtaking, exactly as you describe. It's totally doable, I overtook plenty of trucks, it just takes a bit of planning. But I managed to get down to 5.1L / 100km on the highways, very impressive. For those wondering about the 1l turbo, it's very zippy, even at overtaking but the drive isn't as smooth. I also drove the Tiggo Pro 4 and the engine (1.5l naturally aspirated) was seriously lacking, extremely lazy and no apparent torque at all. To me it felt like all bells and whistles with no power. One would need to opt for the turbo but this could potentially increase ownership cost in the long run. Also watch out for dual clutch transmissions that are dry (no oil) as these can wear out quicker and very expensive to replace. The other feature of the Sonet is the large boot size of 385l. As a family anything under 380l is a deal breaker for us, including the Tiggo 4 with a 340l boot. However, I'm now also looking to buy a new car and Sonet's high price is a bit difficult to justify with basic features like at least 4 airbags. If you opt for the EX+ you are in the same price range as the VW Tiguan on the used market.
How’s it Mpho? Great review as always. I honestly thought this Sonet was gonna be better than the outgoing one. My wife and I considered it as we finally wanted to trade in the Kia Rio, the 2 airbags were a no from me, then those manual aircon controls on lower models, including the 1.0T variant which is the only one we wanted for obvious reasons, coming from a Rio that lacked power and a turbo engine. Sonet would excel if the Chinese cars were not there, I wouldn’t touch the Magnite, too many problems from owners.
Sizwe my brother, I am well, hope you are too. I could not agree more, I would not trade in the Rio for the Sonet honestly. The Chinese have already infiltrated the market it in a disruptive way and the Sonet, as good as it is, will definitely get a challenge from what they offer on the other side. It is quality though yoh🔥
We are also considering the Sonet but the outgoing 2023 model. I don't really see any improvement on the newer models except for the rear seat splitting and a few look updates. You're right about the Kia Rio, we recently sold it, it lacked a lot of power. Our 2017 Ford Figo is much better.
Yep, it is actually selling ey. It is a quality car but people are shopping differently these days and you need to compete in a smart way. Features honestly sell🤔
Yoh, these days even at R280K, Swift has LEDs but I guess the quality of the car justifies not being able to include some of those at this price point.
Just buy the Baleno, Cross or Fronx and go home with extra cash...If you don't need ground clearance, the Baleno / Starlet is amazing for features. Keyless entry, Climate Control, leather steering, full LEDs, Footwell and Puddle lighting plus see me home lighting. Kia is doing a VW on us now...
Arguable as the Sonet is much more quality, you can feel it even when you get in but the reality is that features sell more these days, so I hear you there👌🏾
The pricing is just ridiculous I changed my mind in 2021 when I was getting this car and went for Jolion. I just don't like CVT and Sonet is just empty there's no features there.
KIA prices are ridiculous, they are pricing themselves out of the market. All the segments it's competing against are way cheaper than this. Soon they will discontinue this car as they did with RIO.
@@sebuwam Yeah, seems like they launching every month. KIA should just take a page from Hyundai’s book and start decreasing some of their cars' prices.

I love this car!
It wins on quality that's forsure
Even the sound system doesn't fully mask the wind noise 😅but I guess it's a budget SUV 🤷
Great review as always!
Yeah, will forgive it for that Vincent, the fact that it is entry level. Thank you so much Vincent🙂🫶🏾
No, we appreciate you, good sir, so THANK YOU 🔥👏😄
And I appreciate you more. Best believe that🙂🙂🙂🙌🏾

At 366 competing with corrola cross hmm, Should be against fronx... Mm not sure but looks premium.. Nice cvt
Looks and feel premium compared to the others, just has less features at it's price point and that's my only issue.
Love your work my brother please can check out the GAC EMKOO PLEASE
Thank you so much, I will look for GAC cars and I will find them forsure🙌🏾
Kia prices are bit high, but once you drive them you will enjoy.
Its not a 1l so that is good. I LIKE IT
👌🏾👌🏾
I appreciate that you're here with me todaayyy❤😂

Kia is a great car and practically speaking you hardly see them accidents caused by kia cars.
Arguable as the Sonet is much more quality, you can feel it even when you get in but the reality is that features sell more these days, so I hear you there👌🏾
Great job as usual bro. Please review the JAC T9 if you can.
Thanks a lot Xoli, I am so looking for that bakkie, asked for it and still waiting for feedback🙏🏽🤞🏾
I would take this kia cvt than the toyota one, which screams and holds the revs up. At least, this one simulates a normal auto box.
💯💯. You are on the money, this is a proper CVT, reminds me of Chery CVT, Toyota and Nissan's ones are loud and make the engine scream yoh
My brother a night pov drive with music would do ❤❤
This is one car I did not shoot a night for, I am so sorry😭
Wait this is a cute carrrr
Oh, that we can't argue with. Kia kills their designs👌🏾
We still waiting for long video of ford raptor ❤❤
It's up and running🙂🙌🏾

Dankie🙂🙌🏾
Sebuwa wa di SUV
😂🫶🏾
kia is undermining us indeed, there is nothing in that car for nothing jirrrrrrrrrrrr
😭😭😭

At that point Jolion was risky, only a few knew that it was a steal, I know it back then and even today I would pick Jolion over Sonet🙂
Price price price...
Eish, that's my only gripe compared to the other fish in the pond🤔

So far it is selling, top 15 best selling cars but I am not sure if it will keep the momentum, the Chinese are coming with everything they have yoh!
