Hey, that’s me on vocals! Very awesome of you all to take a listen to the track! I’ll give you a little bit of backstory on how all of this unfolded with my involvement with the track. Long story short, a friend of mine saw that Mick was looking for a metal vocalist for an upcoming character track, and well that same friend of mine told me to submit some of my tracks from a previous band I was in. Iffy at first, but I went ahead and did just that, and the next day I was contacted to provide vocals for the the track! What’s nuts is I had been competing in fighting games for a long time before, and I was competing in Killer Instinct as well while this track was needed to be done. It was a very surreal moment considering how involved I was in the killer instinct scene before even landing the part as a vocalist. Mick is a great guy and the direction he wanted me to go couldn’t have been any easier than how he made it for me. Very awesome person to work with and very skilled composer. I will forever cherish this whole scenario that got me in one of my favorite video game series of all time. Mick later used my vocals again for the Doom Eternal soundtrack as well 🤘🏼🤘🏼!
I am currently in two death metal bands in case you guys would like to check out some of my work aside from here. I do vocals for my band Kryptik Mutation. We have one album out titled Pulled from the Pit on Redefining Darkness records. The second band I joined is called Severance and they’ve been around since 1989. I am newest vocalist but currently am not on any of their pre existing albums, but we will be working on the latest album this year! Another fun fact about Severance, we happened to go viral recently being a death metal band that played at a GameStop for a Zelda midnight release event, haha. There was a circle pit full of children that went off during our last song, and well, it was a hit 😅. Check it out if you haven’t!

Crazy how Mick Gordon had less than 2 weeks of time to compose this track. There was a lot of pressure. But what came out was a masterpiece.

So a cool thing about Omen's theme is that 2:38 to 2:59 is Gargos' theme

Metal vocals are from Chris de Leon, an actual fighting game player who's also a metal singer in his own band. He's just singing the Tibetan lyrics Mick throat-sang in Tiger Warrior with metal growls.
It's so much fun going through these reactions. Killer Instinct is something so near and dear to my heart, and having not listened to Omen's theme in a while, 6:06 hit me like a truck and I almost started bawling my eyes out. Even though I started playing it 6 years ago, it still feels so nostalgic.

BROAWWWWWWWWW, it's heavy !!! The bass and vocals are huge! It reminds me of the sound of Werner Erkelens (who did the bass on Bulletproof) and who played at Hellfest last weekend with "Monuments" ! I love this kind of ultra powerful and metallic bass sound. The scream is pleasant, the blue monster is cool, and this fucking instrumental passage at 5min50 and a new super powerful start until the end, to end in apotheosis. Thanks guys. Take care about you.

There is a character in KI named Jago. So he is a Tibetian (not Japanese) monk. And this Omen is his dark version. That's why this song is just a remix of The Tiger Warrior. Btw there is a cool outro in the end of the video)))

In the Killer Instinct lore, Omen actually posseses another character named Jago, a Tibetan ninja monk, who's original song is the basis of this one

That was actually pretty good. Very surprising honestly. The vocals were odd, well for me anyway lol but all in all, not too shabby!
A lot of "odd" is to be found in Killer Instinct but so far I feel the songs are very captivating, whether that's because of or in spite of the oddities! Cheers! / George
@@thewindmillfullovcorpses As a fanatic for this soundtrack before any of Mick's doom stuff, I have some info that might help.
This is actually the LAST track Mick Gordon did for Killer Instinct and it is a remix of the FIRST track he did for KI, which was "The Tiger Warrior" AKA Jago's Theme.
The lyrics are entirely done in Tibetan throat singing and are largely just phonetics and gibberish. In "The Tiger Warrior", Mick Gordon himself was actually THE one singing the lyrics, but when he came back to do a death metal version of the same track, he got an actual metal vocalist to do the lyrics who can be found down in the comments section of the track covered in this video.
Like all KI songs, Mick put the "Idle Theme" in the middle which is a cover of the original character's theme.
In this case, Omen is the "Herald" of another character named Gargos, so the idle theme here is a cover of Gargos's theme.
However, what makes this track special is the very end where things quiet down before having that triumphant "rise". In Mick's own words, this was his sendoff for the franchise before moving on to Doom, as Killer Instinct was one of his favorite projects to work on and he was going to miss the community, but wanted to, in his own way, say "There is more to come". And that wound up being Doom 2016.
