The "Sea Robin" in the video is actually an Oysterfish (Toad Fish). They're very similar looking. Thank ya'll for watching and don't forget to subscribe!
We always called them ‘oyster crackers’. I’ve found them to be vindictive lol. Caught one, same one, three times in quick succession one night on the lagoon years ago. Was fishing with live shrimp and bull minnows. He kept killing them of course. I finally decided he was just getting revenge for getting caught.
Aren’t they venomous? We always avoided touching them if we caught one down in st pete cuz it was our understanding that they have venomous spines that can ruin ur day .
Just watched this and you're at over 90k now! Congrats on the growth, you have quickly become one of my favorite fishing creators. Thank you for all the knowledge.
Love the boonie hat. I was on a charter one time years ago and had brought a boonie hat from my 3rd Force Recon days back in the 80's. I wasn't catching crap on the first day and my boss, who was with us, told me I needed a lucky hat. I broke out my old boonie, hung a rusty Rapala topwater in it ala Colonel Blake from MASH and damned if my luck didn't turn right around. I lost the original in Katrina and replaced it. To this day, I still wear an old woodland camo boonie sometimes when I fish for good luck. LOL
Yo, Bama, I am a real deal subscriber (been around since 2k) I just wanted to say that I appreciate the genuine content. Keep doing what you’re doing and in my opinion, I think channels like this one are the pinnacle of RUclips. I greatly appreciate the anti-BS, shoot it straightforward content; most “big time” RUclipsrs have lost the artistry/creativity you possess. The ability to create fantastic substances is not easy, yet your channel, unlike countless other fishing channels, is able to attract and retain an audience *without* selling out to bs corporate interference. I , as a frequent viewer, return to your channel daily knowing that what you see is what you’re getting and I LOVE what you do. Keep it up my friend , I hope one day I get the chance to catch fish with you so we can bounce ideas back and forth
I've ordered a few boonie hats on Amazon for 5 or 6 bucks a piece. I like the polyester(cotton holds water) with mesh all of the way around the top. They keep my head cool.👍
I always like do a variety of fishing haha!! The fishing opportunities we have down here is awesome and that's what makes this place great!!!! Thanks for watching!!!!!!
Hey Bama, I just subbed to your channel. I had my 3rd knee replacement surgery (due to post surgeries infection in early December 2021.) Without you guys even knowing it, Brant, Ron and yourself helped get me through the many down and depressing post surgery days. I'm still not walking too good but I AM back to work. So tell the guys thanks for keeping me company and taking me fishing with ya'll virtually. I'm 5th generation from Clearwater Fl. so I grew up doing a lot of the same type fishing you guys do! Watching you toss back all them Pigfish (we call them grunts most of the time) was killing me! lol Those and Lady Fish are my top 2 favorite baits. When we Snook fish at night we have a saying that's kinda borrowed from the movie "Field Of Dreams". It goes like this, "If You Throw Grunts, They Will Come". lol We have spots where 3 of us can easily go through 100 of them in a couple hours, just catching and releasing large snook! But I have also used them to catch many Tarpon, Bull Reds, Cobia and even the Trout love the small ones! Anyway, let me finish rehabbing, then you guys plan a trip down here and decide what you wanna catch and I'll be happy to turn ya'll on to my hot spots! I owe ya, it's the least I can do! 😉 wcordelo328@gmail.com
Woah, this only 1 year old and you had under 10k subs before this? I just found your channel about 4-6 months ago. Seen it grow quite rapidly already. Keep up the good fishing! God bless you and your family. 🙏🎣🙌
I was at that very wall Saturday the 10th. I thought I was catching croakers and I’ve just learned from your video that they were in fact pig fish. I did catch a nice mangrove snapper. Great video ! Very informative. Thanks !
From getting bored at three in the morning and wanted to see if i van make a setup like you. Nope, thats a little too expensive for me unless I'm looking in the wrong area lmao
😂 Hard work pays off for sure, and it's Hard to beat a Penn reel for sure! Penn and Van Staal are actually under the same company name now! Pretty neat. Thanks for watching
They either get caught and harvested or they indeed do migrate out to the gulf. We catch them right off shore about a mile out on the artificial reefs from our kayaks. They get just as big or bigger than some red snappers! 🤙
It’s better than I thought. Usually Van Staals are “gritty”. This one casts very smooth with 20 suffix braid and is very light weight. It balances great with my St Croix Avid Inshore
@@BamaSaltwater I just got to use the mojo inshores I bought. Casting and spinning. I saw you liked them so I gave it a shot. I’m a g loomis guy normally but I like the st crouix so far. There was a sale for spinning mojos for 70$ delivered from tackledirect.
It allows me to feel the bite better with my finger on the line and allow the fish to pull line out when I get a bite allowing for a better hook up and letting the fish eat the bait!
Bama 👍🏼 Funny I'm subscribed to a Bama beach bum just finish watching an epp then you popped up 😅 So I've subscribed to you too 🍺 No relation I guess 👍🏼
Yeah definitely, it slipped my mind at the moment hahaha, and yeah!! there were some Spanish biting but they kept short striking my jig before I left, thanks for watching!
Hey buddy I really enjoy your videos but how about you tell us a little more about you how can you afford those expensive equipment to fish and that nice looking boat that you have What do you do for leaving work kind of job do you have like I said you got nice videos bud
That zebco would be a ball of rust after 1 trip. Also, there are some big fish swimming through the pass. Any time a big 40lb bull red could show up and eat your shrimp.

Meant to ask earlier but just have been busy but why do you not use a bead between your egg sinker and swivel ?
Love it when you do fishing vidios from land because most viewers do not have a boat or a kayak to fish from or we would be fishing ourselves.👍

Casting further out away from the rocks will get you some bigger fish, possibly flounder or sand bass. Good catch.
I fished that whole area when my family last visited and I pulled in a baby grouper of some kind.
Thanks again man, even on this older video lol

What do you do for a living? You have boats and fish all the time? Must be awesome!
How would bull minnows work down there or is live shrimp the better choice?
Bull minnows will work great too!!
Man I I'm in Las Vegas Nevada state they got lake Mead park but I I'm from Los Angeles California down in Manhattan beach California pier
Do the larger mangroves just migrate out to the ocean, or do you think they’re just getting caught?

When I buy live shrimp and catch fish I don't want I always wish I had gotten frozen shrimp.
Coming down first week of august. Where’s the best place to get bait and on a day trip like this how much live shrimp do you usually purchase ?
Thanks
Most local tackle shops carry live bait, best bet is to call and find out what they currently have when you're down. Live Shrimp runs $4+ per dozen.
Good Afternoon Bama Saltwater i was wondering can the ramora be eating or For Bait
Can the Pig fish be eating n if it small can be use for Live o Cut bait
Remora not so much! But Pig fish are great cut bait !
Do you try to fish only on high tides or you just go fishing and don't pay attention to the tide or do you
Enjoy your videos. Could you tell me please the size of your VR50 that you are using? Thank you.

To fish on texas you don't need a reef fishing endorsementx and you can use Kale hook
How much does live shrimp cost around gulf shores
They vary at every shop, with the average being over $4+ per dozen.
Where did you get your fishing cart and the price please
Why do u keep the bail open
It allows me to feel the bite better with my finger on the line and allow the fish to pull line out when I get a bite allowing for a better hook up and letting the fish eat the bait!
11:10 oyster toadfish not sea robin
If you walk to the right about 30 yards there’s a hell of a mangrove spot
They're all over that wall.
@@BamaSaltwater yes sirrrr, twords the end on the right side there’s like two big slabs of concrete on the bottom that’s seemed to hold more fish.
Where are you getting your live shrimp from?
Hooked Up in Gulf Shores, Alabama

Pig fish always make me laugh, like you did.
Is a pig fish the same as a hog fish? I read the other comments and found that they are also called Grunts.
No, Hog Fish are a different species. But yes, Pigfish and Grunt is the same fish!
Nice, I actually work at Tackle Direct lol
Haha that’s awesome! I’ve been buying from y’all for a hot minute hahahah.
