you do know that is raw sewage from Mexicali Mexico and some drainage from the fields in the IV. never fish that area, even though the fish are big you are in the 2nd most toxic river in the world, the first is New River also in the Valley

The Alamo is a trickle from Mexico, the new river is a gushing river from Mexico. They look the same but not even close to the same pollution
I was born here, I know the New River very well, have you ever noticed when news stations talk about the Salton Sea, they always blame the run off from the fields for the Sea`s pollution problem ? In 40 years I have never heard them even mention the New River. In 1986 the Regan Administration gave Mexico a Billion dollars to build a sewage treatment plant in Mexicali, that money disappeared and no plant was built. @@dragonsnatch1146

damn why the big hook ? you want to have real fun, fish with an ultra light rig and no more then 8 lbs test line. it will force you to to learn how to really fish and it makes the fight better , anyone can land a 15 lbs flathead on a damn deep sea rig with 40lbs test
You underestimate their sandpaper mouths I've had smaller cats gnaw thru 15 pound test I usually fish with 20/25lb test with medium action rod for flatheads
Because that’s the way People fish for big flatheads so now if you have 8lbs and your line goes towards the brush on or rubs on a rock that line is gone I know plenty of people who fish with big line for flatheads come on man when you show a vid of you fishing for a Flathead and land a big one in this area on 8lb line then we might say good job to you until then bro keep dreaming

I would never fish that toxic waste dump , I have fished every canal in El Centro with the rig I described and very rarely do I ever lose it. I aint about to give up a swivel a weight and Eagle Claw hook , that crap is not cheap anymore. @@dragonsnatch1146
