  • So sorry guys! I had to re-up on supplies and money. I'm back on the road! Well this one was ready for the spring, but I had to get on the new job asap and unfortunately gave me a two month hiatus. My apologies, but for good reason and well worth it. Anyways, come join me on the dock as we make Mulberry mead a.k.a. Morat
Notes: This one is great dry. It gives you the illusion of a higher profile wine with the addition of woods like chestnut, oak, or french oak. Be careful not to over do it. Also, your ok to add a little sweetness, if you need that tooth pleased! Either way, enjoy!

Have yet to make a mulberry mead (morat) but mulberry wine is delightful. If you want, you can add chocolate to the morat (or wine) by adding 4 oz of a malted barley called chocolate malt. it's a dark roasted barley that has been so roasted that there is no longer any sugars in the barley but the flavor screams chocolate in ways that cocoa nibs don't. And mulberry and chocolate is a marriage made in heaven... What you might do, is simply boil the malted barley for an hour, in a pint or so of water, strain the liquor, and when cool add the liquid to your morat just before bottling. If you were planning to flavor the mulberry wine with chocolate, I would simply boil the malted barley with the water you intended to add to the berries and again, strain that liquid before brewing the berries.

@@kb2vca words of a wise brewer! In the process of a coffeemel with your same process. I used chocolate and coffee malt. Oh, did I mention I brew beer too?! Thanks for sharing and watching!

Turns out that I happen to highly allergic to Mulberries, but apparently not enough to stop me from eating them when I find them wild... 😂
