Awesome info! Learn so much from this channel. I live in Houston and gets about 10 days a year on the mountain, this channel really helps in learning the intricacies of riding and equipments. Great job! I'm gonna have to check out Comor Sports next time I'm in Whistler.
Top notch set up. Would be great if you could do some "how to splitboard" vids as you learn how to use them, I've always been curious myself. Nice to see you also took the Orca, got one this season myself and although I've only got a couple non-powder days on it myself, I love that thing. Have fun out there boys!
Andreas probably did it, but if not, be sure to adjust the Karakoram ultra clips so they pull tighter. It'll make the board ride better. Also, it's a good idea to tie some paracord to the so you have something to grab onto when they are covered in snow. Have fun on Hokkaido !
Get Nautical - you slide them on and off for ride mode, with a piece that clicks into place. For walk mode it is a quick side click with 2 pins in the front so they can move.
Hello, I started riding last year and now I want to buy my first snowboard. I'm 189cm tall and weigh 108kg. I found a snowboard for a good price, a 156 wide, will this board be to small for me? Thank you!
Hi Kev, how are you? look i want to ask you what is your opinion about Burton Splitboard Flight Attendent 2020 if you have one. And the bindings Sparks R&D. Thanks bro!
Splitboards are less torsionally stiff, so not as great on harder snow. You could get snow shoes instead and retain the benefit from your existing board.

It’s not cheap and I myself wouldn’t bother. As I hardly use my all moutain board that I got last year. But that’s what happens when ur a student in a uk costal town
@MrSpreadem the board is 1,2k bindings are like 500 skins n poles arent really expensive in comparison i would say around 2,5k, maybe more, depending on the avalanche bag
The skin has mole hair on it which allows the skis to grip the snow so you can move up hill. Whether that's breaking tracks uphill or on a existing ski touring track. They're used for both touring ski setups and splitboards.
@@rxshred They have sticky adhesive that allows it to stick to the bottom and be removed. When you get to the top of where you're dropping in and gearing up, you take the skins off. They're only used for the ascent.
Taking a brandnew Splitboard to Japan and having never using it before in a foreing country and terrrain is no good idea. You should have prepared this and tried this out before. Things can break, you get stuck. Take spare parts and tools with you the least.
As a splitboarder, I'm confused as to why Kevin's jumping into this seeming like he has no knowledge of it or the gear for it? It's nothing like resort riding - no one's out there to save you or watch out for you like there is at a resort.
@@bene1452 Damn,it's still too expensive. I mean, I see no reason why anyone being not a pro should buy splitboards for such a price especially Solution for Japow which is quite strange. But who cares...Just my opinion
Buying some last-minute things? Are you fucking kidding me....you're buying your entire setup....lol and you're going to Japan on a trip with a brand new board and equipment you've never used.
‘We’re gonna get some last minute things’
Man buys a hole new snowboard
2000$ last minute is legendary

@@JoseSantos-gl3vk Well the dude has a channel dedicated to snowboarding with near 400k subs so it's not purely just spending for the sake of it.
Andreas seems like such a cool dude, always handy to have someone in the industry for advice
You guys inspired me to create my first snowboarding video, and I deeply enjoyed every second of doing so. Thank you guys so much! 🏂
Daniel Blackford your video is dope!! Keep making more I made one too 🤟
Can’t wait to see your split board in action! 🤩🏂
ANDREAS IS TO SNOWBOARDING WHAT YODA IS TO THE FORCE!!!! Total Legend, follow him you must!!

Good luck in Japan guys🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
New gear stoke is always legit! Eager to see the Splitboard action, something new and a different twist on the mountain. 🤙🏼

It would be awesome to hear some content about how you guys deal with avalanche safety and the gear you use!

Awesome new video, good to try somthing new, can't wait for the splitboard exploring vids.
“see if we can prevent the goggles from foggin up!” Hahaaa 😏😅🤙😎🥶
why hahaa? did i miss a joke?
Man that jones solution is even more gorgeous than the mountain twin or the women's boards from jones
Spark bindings be hella rad
I bought voile pucks for my spark blindings! I hope that I made the right choose.
Thanks kevis :) A video like this on splitboards is what i was looking for.
@4:42 -> "Attacchi". Italian dude there?
Looking forward to seeing some split board hiking, would be cool if you could get an app that shows yor hike route
So cool I'm excited to see you ride it
Welcome to the splitboard world! If your ever down to hit Stevens pass or Baker. Let’s tour!
Can you guys do a review on the Capita Mercury, would be much appreciated.👍🏼
Man I think you are becoming a Gear Junkie 😁😁😁! Enjoy Japan. Whish I could do stuff like that. One day maybe....have fun and stay safe boys 😎.
What kind of Burton travel bag is that? It's not on your list above. Thanks, and have fun in Hokkaido!
Kevin, im riding in whistler for the first time this week and was wondering if you had any recommended spots to ride on blackcomb. Thanks!
Sweet setup Kevin. Hope you enjoy the JAPOW!
Oh man, dropping 2k on gear haha is this #sponsored? lol
Are you guys getting all geared up to hike Mt Yotei?
Kevin bro you forgot to link his channel
I think it linked now!
SnowboardProCamp awesome, cheers bro
Yay Japan so exciting
I have a Flagship, so I was considering that setup w/ the Solution in 169W and Surges, too. Did you get touring boots, too? If so, which ones?
where are you guys riding in Japan these coming days?
Airhole masks are GREAT!
Does that mean we are going to see a mountain hike with a lot of powder snow😂🙃💪
Orca and a jones split. Power set up there 💪. When moving bindings from riding to hiking do they click in between the two or do you have to screw in?
Get Nautical - you slide them on and off for ride mode, with a piece that clicks into place. For walk mode it is a quick side click with 2 pins in the front so they can move.
5:22 yeah Straya!

First? Keen to see the split in action!

Close! But not first
Hey Kevin, i was thinking of buying my own snowboard but im not an expert, What would you recommend? I would like it press nicely but not to bendable
Enjoy the driest and deepest snow on earth and the amazing Island of Hokkaido!!!
it's kinda confiusing watching david jons's video before yours, one moment you are in japan and the next one back at whistler XD nice vid tho ;)
Great Vid, butt what was the cost?
I want to try splitboard. But i don’t ski, i reallt don’t. Im at an expert level of snowboard tho. Is it ok to not be able to ski when splitboarding?
Awesome!
How do you transport your board around Japan?
Can du try to post more video i like your videos alot
What prefecture are you guys going to ?
What do skins do like can u take them off? Wouldn’t it be weird when snowboarding?
Jazzam 23 I want to know too.
Skins are for when you are hiking up hill with the board split, when you get to the top you reconnect the board and take the skins off.
finally saw it !! interesting :)
Thats a japan trip Cost damnn
What’s the name of the shop ? And his channel? Thanks and have fun in Japan!! Go charge
haha awesome!
so much to invest for a splitboard. I need mah skins
could you use a split board for jumps or jibbing? or are they mainly for pow?
Splitboards are less torsionally stiff, so not as great on harder snow. You could get snow shoes instead and retain the benefit from your existing board.
what are those bindings?
Kevin I’m going to Niseko soon hope I c u!!! FIRST

Do the skins have any functionality, or is it for aesthetics only?
The skins grip the snow as you hike up the mountain and prevent you from sliding backwards. You take them off when you snowboard down.
What did the whole setup cost, board , bindings and skins

You know what, this is the first time im actually jelaouse...
So what’s the point of the skin on the bottom? I’m totally naive to split boarding.
grip when going uphill in ski/hike-mode. you take it off when boarding down the mountain
Make sure you have your avvy cilinders correctly stored with proper documentation, or you will get boned by airport security.
Has anyone tried these Splitboards? How do you rate them?
What is the purpose of the split board skin?
The skin has mole hair on it which allows the skis to grip the snow so you can move up hill. Whether that's breaking tracks uphill or on a existing ski touring track. They're used for both touring ski setups and splitboards.
@@stokedonphotos1 Thanks for the info. What happens when you board down, wouldn't the skin get in the way?

What is the skin for
The skin grips the snow as you hike up. Then you remove it do ride down.

What is that skin they seem to be sticking to the underside of the board!????
its for when you are hiking, provides grip, you take them off after when shredding back down
