  • 0800066 - High-Altitude Nuclear Weapon Effects Part One - Phenomenology - 1963 - 20:53 - Color - When nuclear weapons are detonated at high altitudes, they cause dramatic changes in the atmosphere and ionosphere. In a very technical presentation, this video discusses such things as the interactions of electrons and positive ions and shows the electromagnetic regions and how they carry electrical charges from one hemisphere to another. The video also discusses how there is much information unknown about nuclear explosions at extremely high altitudes, especially above 250 kilometers, where there is less atmospheric resistance.

The atmosphere of the Earth doesn’t simply end, but rather gradually gets thinner and thinner. I wonder if there is still a molecule or two out as far as is the Moon?

This video is a great technical overview of the physics of high altitude nuclear bursts.

spruemastertv asks"these tests can have caused damage to the ozone layer?" Yes, they do cause some damage to the ozone layer, about the equivalent damage as any large conventional bomb exploding does. The nitrogen close by, and any sulfur in rocks or such, can be oxidized by the heat to create NOx and SOx components, which can, molecule for molecule, break ozone down into oxygen. However, when these molecules are so used, they become stable, and cause no further damage, unlike CFCs which destroy an ozone molecule and are then ready to take on another, semi-endlessly.

i am convinced it did, and nuclear testing is still destroying the atmosphere , and that the ozone hole did not heal ,it just getting thinner ,it doesn't take a scientist to figure this out ,but they will make scientists deny it until governments dont matter cause we'll be all f'd by then

No, probably not, the prompt radiation won't reach that far and the fission products get carried off in the jetstream and diluted in the background radiation.

Since like it's stated in the video that there is in fact some atmosphere even a altitudes of 1000 kilometers, how the does the iss keep from slowing since it orbits well below 1000 kilometers. Even a minute fraction of the amount of atmosphere we have at sea level would cause drag continually.

They regularly have to boost the ISS. They used to use the OMS engines on the Shuttle orbiters, but now use Progress or the ISS's Zvezda thrusters.

Where Truman warned against "the U.S. becoming a garrison state" ...where the two allowed political parties both dance to the pipes of the Pentagon and allow her unconditional unlimited access to the people's treasury .
The U.S. still the only one having used nuclear weapons against civilian targets no matter how hard the Japanese military asked for it .
The former Soviet Union had to stay an enemy , after the collapse of the Warsaw Pact , Nato's (U.S.) eastwards expansion made sure the Russian Federation had to keep its defences prepared. In effect keeping a totalitarian regime in place which serves the Pentagon .
While now "giving" the Ukraine for millions in advanced weaponry , which is why ....."the Ukraine *shall* not lose this war" ......"otherwise we will have lost for millions in investment ".
