Shower and Slideout Stove/Oven are amazing
Thank you! They’re very functional and hide away nicely. We love it!
Totally agree and recliner is amazing toooo
Love that the clutter of the monitors are hidden!!! Love 💘
The digital picture frame. Brilliant. Everyone is w u and u do NOT have the clutter of all those photos 🙂
It’s super nice to sit and look out at the beautiful views! 😍
I’ve watched plenty of van tours and I honestly think yours would be the best, at least for me. The shower solution is terrific. Saves so much room and yet seems gives you more actual space for showering. Brilliant!
Thanks Barbara! It’s definitely worked well for us too. The shower is plenty spacious and works as a mud room too being right in front of the door. And we don’t have to sweep as often. 👍🏼 haha That was unplanned, but is a next extra feature! Good lucky with your possible future build!
Brandon and Katie 👍Thanks
The shower is so creative! I'm planning to do my own van conversion after I graduate and I might borrow this idea. It would be really cool to see a tutorial or a more in depth explanation of how the shower works!
Thanks! And go for it! We’ll definitely consider a more in depth shower tutorial for a future video.
Hands down, this is one of the best shot van tours I have seen. It was very informative, the sound quality was good (even in the wind), new ideas, and great job with showing everything you guys were talking about. Props to you guys
Thanks so much for the kind comment!
@Bob Ned, no kidding! Right out of the gate he told us what kind of van it is. Most van vids don't even do that. Then he gets right into the shower build. I was impressed with this video only two minutes in!
Remarkable build on a small wheelbase for two people! This is a sensible and smart build, which is also very aesthetically pleasing. Love the toilet and laundry hamper and shower positioning. The garage was great too. So much can fit under bed, wow. Thanks for a great tour. You are both a charming couple.
Thank you so much for your kind comment! We agree, it turned out pretty great for what we envisioned.
Did anyone else see the please no farting sign? I was eating and I almost spit my food out cuz I laugh so hard 😅
Lol it’s a joke from Katie’s childhood. But she wishes I’d read it more often.
All I could think was that it should be in the bathroom 🤣
Been watching a lot of van conversions and yours is my favorite so far. Small footprint yet all your needs are met with the layout. I personally would find some way to create a wall around the toilet area cause even though it's a mind over matter thing, I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable using it and feeling like I'm in my kitchen/living room while pooping.
Also interested in seeing more about the bike mount system.
Thanks! I tried to come up with a way to bring the shower curtain around the toilet or get a different shower curtain but nothing really clicked well.. Yeah we have gotten a few questions about the bike mount, we will probably do a review on it sometime.
@@somedayvans6653
That's easily solved. Just change the direction of the toilet and put it on sliders so it slides out onto the shower tray in front of the door.
I love the pull out stove and refrigerator. You’re layout is one of the best I’ve seen. I’m surprised that your plate/ pots cubbie isn’t a pull out drawer.
Thanks! Yeah we thought about doing that but there is a lot of space on the left side of that cabinet that we would lose if we did a drawer. (Like 1/3 of the space)
I haven’t seen a stove/oven like that before. It’s a great idea especially keeping it out of the way on the cupboard without using up counter space. You were also very clever with the cutout to access the food storage underneath.
Very nice build with some smart ideas.
I just discovered you guys today and jumped straight into your vlog, as I was watching I assumed you were experienced vloggers but realised you have a brand new channel. I am obsessed with van conversions and this is by far the most impressive I have seen. I'd love to see how you did the conversion if you have any footage. Good luck and keep up the good work!
Thank you!! We appreciate your comment. We took some video footage of the conversion but never edited it. On our Instagram @vannieoakley there’s a lot of pictures of our build progression.
Thanks Brandon, it was great to see the process and now the clever storage and sleek cabinets makes sense....you're a carpenter😀. I see you changed up the shower floor, the current system in the van tour seems to work well?
Looking forward to following your adventures and seeing the van function.
Haha yes, the cabinets were the easy part. And the new shower design in our video works great! I did change from my first shower design you saw with the folding doors. The shower floor didn’t dry out enough and was a little gimmicky as far as walking on top of the doors when closed and keeping them open easily. It needed to be simpler, so the cedar slats work well.
Have watched many many van tours. This is one of the best, small van or not. A place for everything, and you thought of everything. So impressive. No wasted space. Especially love the stove. Wow.
Thank you!! We love how it turned out and are happy to hear you like the layout!
Love the shower system. Thanks for sharing your van with us, lots of great ideas.
Thank you! It worked out great
Finally someone made a shower at the right place. If you are going to use the bathroom only during boondocking then the water can be let out without a grey tank like an outdoor shower. Even the kitchen sink outlet does not need a grey tank during boondocking. Most importantly, the bathroom at the doorway saves prime space. Thanks for the upload.
Yes we love it! The shower can also drain into the grey tank when we are not boondocking but must of the time we are in National Forest land or the likr
Love your floor plan. You thought of everything.
Thanks Carla! We tried to fit it all in with no sacrifices. We love it!
yes it's nice. I'd add a full-length mirror behind one of the backrests and set sails. I didn't realize these came without overhead storage in the cab area though
I went back and forth on whether or not I (Katie) wanted a mirror in the living space. I decided not to and am glad I didn’t. I look in the mirror a lot less and it’s kind a nice. Haha But I can totally see the need for one! And yeah, the overhead storage would be nice.
That shower is brilliant. I would like a van but so often no shower. Brilliant. Great van
Thanks! Yeah, we weren’t willing to sacrifice a shower. I played around with the design quite a bit to make it work, and love how it turned out!
Love the roomy shower and many other smart design features of your small van build! Everything you need in a small space without scrimping!
Thanks for your comment, Catherine! Our thoughts exactly!
Brandon and Katie would it be rude to ask you how much it all costed, roughly?
We don't really have all the numbers figured out, we may do a cost video at some point when we sit down and figure it out. Sorry, I know that doesn't help!
Great, functional van build! A tip for those catch all baskets above the bed...cut a piece of heavy card stock to fit the basket bottom and wrap it in contact paper. It will keep the cords from falling out. :) Also, we bought a SuperSonic 12v flat screen tv and it works great. That would reduce power consumption.
The shower is a brilliant design. Just by using a few pieces of acrylic you can bathe inside the van. So damn cool !
It's almost unreal when taking a nice, hot shower in a van. We love it!! Thanks!
This is such a great van layout. I've always been a fan of people layouting vans with less than 150" wheelbase because you still need to fit in a normal parking lot
Definitely! That was our thought too when deciding on a van and a layout
I wish more van lifers were like you. Some vans out there, especially commercial ones were so unimaginative and very reckless about their use of space. Your van has all the necessities some 170" extended doesn't even have.
Thanks! That was honestly the big goal with this van. I hadn't really seen any short vans like this include all of the "luxury" items that they say you have to have a long wheelbase to include (shower, toilet, furnace, oven, dinette seating) So I spent quite a while creating and reworking the 3D model to fit everything before even starting on the build.
Best conversion I've seen so far!
Thank you! Its been great for us :)
Awesome 👍
We did a similar shower in one build but only raised the floor across the van in that front area. Love the No Farting sign... I'd add in smaller type, "It'll set off our gas monitors." 😜
Lol Love it. We might have to add that to the sign. And yeah, we only raised the front area as well to still maximize space in the back.
@@somedayvans6653 oh I thought the video said you raised the entire floor of the living space. Thanks for sharing this with me. 🙂👍
Ooops, we may have been unclear. We did raise the entire floor of the “living space”, but the garage we don’t count as part of that.
@@somedayvans6653 got it. We didn't raise the entire living space.
Love the build you guys! We haven't seen a shower at the sliding door before. It all look well thought out from the slide out oven to the lounger. So glad we found you! Happy adventuring! 😊
We’re glad you found us too. 😊 Thanks so much for you your comment! We LOVE our shower set up and wouldn’t want it in any other location. Thank you!
You have the largest water tank of any van that I know of. That's great! I love the shower. Smart design
Thanks! yes we think its worth the extra weight so that you can take a few showers and do dishes on each tank.
I've never seen a shower set up like this. It seems like a great space-saving design.
Yeah there are very few others that have this sort of design. We love it!
This layout is great for a compact van! I love it
Thanks! It has everything we need. We love it too!
Really nice van and tour.
It really is not necessary to give an inventory of everything one owns or has stored in the van... after all, it is YOUR SPACE. Why tell anyone what you have stashed in it and where the stash is?
Each owner uses the drawers for different items.
Very clean design and efficient.
Having the shower at the entrance is superb for a number of reasons but, especially because dirt, etc, falls between the cedar slats and doesn't get tracked all over the van interior.
May you have many happy years of VanLife.
Enjoy every minute of it!!
What a lovely van! That stove/oven is just genius! Great ideas and excellent craftsmanship all around. 👍🏼😉
Thanks! We really love it
The recliner brilliant 👏!!!
Love the 🚿 shower tooo.
Love the cabinet for the appliances
Thanks! We completely agree!
Oh good job the shower sistem amazing. Good idea
Thank you! It works great!
Those knife can slide through on a head on collision. Magnet is only strong when pulling from it.
Thanks for the heads up! We’ll have to look into other options.
No problem. But I love your van ♥. My family and myself is living in a 136 high roof promaster.
Take from someone who has been in a head on collision, EVERYTHING goes forward! Those knives and jars will become projectiles to the back of your bodies! Mount them lower and on the back side of your cabinet!
Awesome! What a fun adventure to have your family with you.
Definitely noted! Thanks
Very good idea to put the stove on a slider,if your shower is in a a stainless steel pan, if it can support you just stand in the pan that way you would not need the plastic pieces keep the water in. and keep the wood piece to keep the floor flowing seamlessly. The toilet is a good idea in its location.. if you had the money I’ve seen a van with a slide out from the rear and you would have more room for your bed. It is a major undertaking and a lot of money to do so but that is the price to pay for more room. This is the best design I’ve seen an a long time . Good job!!!!!
Thanks! We really worked hard to get the layout right from the beginning. A slide out would be amazing! But I'm sure suuuuuper expensive!
The counter top is beautiful!!! The cabinets, the backsplash....this van is awesome!! Great job❤️
Thanks so much!
Your build is brilliantly thought out. Love the shower design.
Thanks Kathy! It works great!
Love the clever shower pan idea!
Thanks Kimberly! It’s worked out great
NIce floor plan, would have liked to see how the drain setup is in the shower, w/ or w/o the slats. Great video, subbed!!
Thanks! We’ll definitely consider that for a future video.
Love, Love , Love this! Great job on the Van and we are so happy you started a RUclips channel! Subscribed!! Can't wait to follow your adventures!
Thank you!! You guys are the best. It will be so hard to part with the van one day. We love it!
Clever shower idea! Love your counter top and the colors you used throughout your new home! 😊-Lisa Shelton
Thanks! We really love the way the backsplash, countertop, and paint colors mesh
In love with your pullout table, the stove/oven combo, and that beautiful cable management
Thanks Logan! Good to meet you guys last week in the Tetons.
I am researching a lot in order to build something similar, but this is the first van which I would definately copy 1:1. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! KEEP ON GOING!
Wow, thanks! I agree, but I’m biased. Haha Good luck on your future build! Feel free to DM me at our Instagram @vannieoakley if you have specific questions.
It's been a long time I've a seen a van Built that's different from the original it's so refreshing. Can't wait to put my ideas in a van as well. Thanks for the video, very thorough
Thanks! We’d love to see what you come up with!
You guys have created just the best use of space.
Thanks so much! It’s been so practical and exactly what we need!
Best shower and great cook stove.
Thanks! Other than the toilet. Definitely our favorite features. haha
You guys are the best, thanks for the van tour- Nate, logan, kellan
Thanks so much! Great meeting you guys
Really enjoyed your video! Your vanbuild is brilliant! Love the colors and organization. The pull out for the stove has given me a new idea! Enjoy!🙂
Thanks! We love it, I'm surprised more vans don't do pull out stoves.
I have seen a lot of videos on vanlife but your van is Excellent design ..I appreciate your effort to share the video with all minute details and sharing amazon links to know the product details/cost. Have a nice time and enjoy your life together!
Thanks so much for your kind compliment! We love it too! We wanted to help other van builders as much as we could.
What a wonderful and sweet couple you two make! Great van too. : )
Thanks :) We like each other.
The best design I have seen so far..very practical and efficient. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Janet! We‘re very happy with how it turned out! It was worth the time put in to get it just right.
Love your van❤️ There is NO such thing as not having enough room for a shower... and you guys proved it! Brilliant!!🎉🎉🎉
Thanks! Yes you always here that you can't have a shower unless you have an extended van. We didn't want to make any sacrifices!
Brandon and Katie Well.... awesome idea‼️
I do believe this is one of the best van builds I have seen. Brilliant ideas to keep all the "necessities" of a home in your home! 👏
Wow, thank you!
Thanks for the tour! It was cool meeting you guys! Looks like your channels grown a lot in just the past few days but you still got the promised 3 new subscribers
Perfect! Thanks! It was great meeting you guys, hope you had a good trip!
55 gallon water tank. I think that's a record. Well done build and very thoughtful. Only suggestion I'd make is you may want to get a food-grade water hose.
Thanks! Yeah we started with 33 gallons and then added another 22.
Beautiful! Your shower setup is genius!!! Love every inch of your van! Love all the details, like your hidden toilet and a specific slot for your table so you can easily slid it out to use without wrestling to get at it. So organized!
Thanks, we put a lot of time and effort into making everything as usable as possible!
Most of these van conversions are so impressive. But it must have cost a small fortune to do them. In this conversion I especially liked the shower solution, the hidden gas stove, the recliner, and the waterproof vinyl plank flooring. And off course the utility set up for the electricity, the plumbing and the heating.
Thanks! Yeah it definitely adds up, but we really love having all the conveniences of home.
Amazing design and execution.. every inch of space is used at 100% potential to benefit you..
Thank you for your kind comment! Yes, we love how practical the design is. We’ve gotten so much use out of every aspect.
I plan on putting my shower in the middle too but probably in a completely different way. The nice thing about it is the shower does not get narrower up where your body is widest, your shoulders. That’s why these freestanding showers that use shower curtains to enclose them are better than the ones that are permanent installs with walls along the wall. I don’t know how tall your van is because I know transits I have some models which are taller than the tallest Sprinter but with the tall top Sprinter I still do not wanna lose any headroom by having thick insulation under the floor which this shower design requires, and I’m not that tall. My last house was a Victorian a 13 foot ceilings downstairs and 12 foot ceilings upstairs in the bedrooms so I was spoiled. I’m actually doing my van in a Victorian theme.
If you want hard shell kayaks, you can always attach them vertically on the back doors. I’ve seen lots of people do that.
Yeah we thought about it but we already have our enduro on the back so it would be pretty difficult to fit all that
I love the shower.
Thanks for your comment, Teressa! We love it too!
I've seen a lot of van conversations... and yours is one of the best so far.. really well done..👍
Thanks! We appreciate your comment and also agree with you ;) It’s worked out great for us so far!
One of my favourite designs!
Thank you so much for the kind comment! We love how it turned out. :)
I love your layout. This is definitely a favorite that I will reference whenI put mine together. Beautiful work!
Thank you so much!
This is really cool! Good luck with your off-grid adventures!
Thanks so much!
You guys did a great job! I do t know why more van lifers who don’t want dedicated shower make one in the door........... it’s better than having no shower and regulated to a outdoor shower...... slide out stove is dope too. Good ideas!
Thanks! Yeah the shower works out great there. We love having in at the front door so it acts like a mud room. We don’t have to sweep as often. :)
Brandon and Katie
But try to clean the Little Rock’s and dirt from shower tray before u shower cause it can gunk up the grey water tank. Have a wonderful adventure together, be safe.
Brandon & Katie what a brilliant van, shower is fantastic as are ur storage. Everything is brill.
Safe journey. THUMBS UP
Thanks Lynne!
Excellent design and technology Many sweet furnishings very homey so calming and relaxing Many blessings to you both happy hiking and boating adventures
Thanks Peggy, for your kind comment! We couldn’t agree more! It definitely feels like home.
Great work, guys. Well thought out, and practical.
Thank you! Definitely put lots of time into planning it out. So we appreciate your comment!
Fascinating build that fits it all in such a nice "smaller" and organized space!
Thanks!
Wow, I love the blue tile and blue paint color!! The floor plan is also well thought out.
Thanks Cindy! Brandon was brilliant with the floor plan, and I also love the blue tile and paint color. You have good taste ;)
slide out stove what a brilliant idea
Thanks!
I LOVE this conversion! the digital picture frame seems very random tho, made me laugh.
Thank you guys for sharing :)
Thanks! It was a wedding gift and we never use it, so it probably won’t be staying. Lol
Really nice build, it's obvious you all put a lot of time & effort into this, plenty of ideas to copy.... FYI @20:00 there's a bunch of exposed high-amp copper that you should really cover up - shrink wrap or electrical tape - esp if you are sliding stuff in/out of that compartment. Last thing you want is to short those out....
Thanks! Yeah I couldn't get any heat shrink for that size cable when I built it so I didn't use any but I should go back and insulate those terminals.
Beautiful build. Thank you very much for the links.
Thanks Jana! We are happy to help!
One of the best vans ever great job guys.God bless
Wow, thanks for the awesome compliment Mia! God bless you too!
Love the shower idea...
Thanks, we love it!
Awesome build and shower set up.
Thanks!
I love love blue grays, beautiful and relaxing
Thanks! Yes we love how our colors turned out!
I have one word to describe the van awesome awesome 👌, that's two words, love it, good job y'all, happy trails 😊😊👍
Thanks so much! We think so too 👍
Awesome build. I love the position of your shower! Genius! Beautiful DIY van build. Stay safe. Happy travels. God bless.
Thanks so much!
Your Van Build is the first Van Build other than mine that I have seen with the slide in stove. I love how you did that because you save so much space on the counter. I have always wondered why Van Builders or dwellers put their stove in a drawer and then place it on the counter, when it’s just so simple to put it in a slide out. The rest of your van is very well thought out and very ingenious build, one of the very best I’ve seen as of this date. Good luck on your travels maybe someday will cross paths and I would love to see a tour in person.
The Gramkracker
Yes! Thanks for your kind comment. We love having the extra counter space. It wasn’t an option to lose it. Definitely worth the time spent. We’d love to see your build too!
Really well thought out!
Thank you, Kate!!
Wow 🤩 I think 💭 your set up for your dimensions are the best I’ve seen by far I love 💕 ur van awesome way for SHOWER 🚿 TOILET 🚽 FRIDGE & stove love ❤️ it ALL!
Thank you, Nichole! We love everything about our van! So glad you agree.
Really cool conversion. I would change a few things but we all have our own ways of what works for us so no one is better or worse. Just personal preference. Thank you for posting all the links. Really helpful.
Shower idea is great but I personally would never do it. You can blade a hard shower dry, but you can’t blade those shower curtains down. The mould and wetness this would create in a van just wouldn’t be worth risking for me. 😱 I have worked on Superyachts for the past 10 years and I have had both in the same tiny spaces so I have history of the pros and cons with both. Hands down I would always go hard shell shower. Again just preference. But genius design guys. Well done. 👏 🏆
Thanks Amanda! Yeah we like the more open van concept so a standalone shower unit wasn’t really and option in a van as small as ours.
Brandon and Katie i also didn’t mention I loved how neat and organised you are with all your stuff and especially the garage. Well done. Nothing better than having exact the design that works for you! And you did a fab job too. 👏
Lots of good ideas here.
Thanks!
MY GOD, What a Nice Place.
Thanks Jennifer! We think so too.
Great layout and love the shower design 👌🏻
Thank you! It’s worked great!
Beautiful set up! Safe travels.
Thanks Katherine! We appreciate your comment!
Love it!🇨🇦💕
Thanks Maggie!
A thumbs up for the video and a great job on conversion 👍
Thanks! We appreciate the comment.
Wicked!!! Innovative! Best I have seen in ages!! I just shared with my kids too. BTW YOU BOTH are so natural, comfortable, and interesting to listen to. All the best! Looking forward to more Videos.
That means so much to us, thanks! We will be sure to post some more videos
I love this floor plan. Very practical
Thanks! We love how it turned out
Very impressive van build!😁👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Eleanor! 😁
How do you like your Linsion refrigerator? I bought a 54qt but havent used it yet cuz of the travel restrictions.
Very well thought out. Love the shower, stove and toilet solutions.
55G is like a Class A motorhome! 😳
We really like it when it works.. The first one they sent us didn't cool down at all but they promptly sent us another that worked fine. We have been using it for a few months now and just the past few days it keeps drawing an error and I have to pull the power to get it to reset so we will see how it holds up.. Other than that, its basically the cheapest DC fridge BY FAR that I can find and draws way less power than our other fridge did.
Wow, really impressive
Thanks Rob!
You two are so cute and your van might be even cuter!! :D Love the clean aesthetic and that it’s so well organized. The shower design is supper awesome too. Can’t wait for more!
Thanks! We really love it
Nice van & I really like this layout! You seem to have solved a few of the issues I've had with other Van's I've been seeing. Love the stove, shower & recliner!
Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to let us know. We're happy to inspire other van builders. We love how ours turned out.
Loving the shower since it totally saves on space!
It's great! It basically disappears when not in use. Couldn't be better.
So simple and so Great the shower :) f... idea , love it
Thank you! We love it too
This helps so much. I’m only 22, not sure if i could afford an extended model but i really want a shower!! Thanks for the video omg
Thanks Crystal! You can definitely customize a less expensive van build and prioritize a shower like this as a main feature. Go for it! 🙌🏼
I think this is my favorite one I have seen yet! And I have watched a lot!
Wow, thanks for the awesome compliment Tana! We're so glad you love it too!
Amazing love your van.....from Melbourne..🎄🎁🎅👍
Interesting design features!
Thanks Tony!
