I'm so happy for you! My pond gives me such joy and I'm sure yours will give to you! You wont get much work done though, you lose hours staring into it, especially when it's new!😂
I can see me sitting there with one of the chickens now, waiting for the slightest movement! I've started planting it up and already impatient to see it all fill in! Thank you.
Hi Jane, I think every garden or allotment can benefit from a pond no matter how big or small! Putting up a trail camera is an absolute must and so exciting when viewing that first footage to see just who has been to visit....so enjoy! Take care, Annie 🐞 🐝 🌱
I love this idea for the pond Jane. It’s going to look so good there, all planted up and with the shade of the rhubarb. Brilliant. It’s good to get that buzz from something new on your plot, especially when you’ve had your plot for so long. Great job.! ❤ 🐸
That's a good size pond for the plot. Leave out a few buckets and washing up bowls as well to capture rainwater. It's been a very wet March so far for me. My washing up bowl pond has overflowed a few times. Made it in 2020 as a lockdown project with the kids and still going strong.
Jane I can get equally excited over little things. It maybe a size of a couple of washing up bowls. But it will bring so much wild life in my favourite is the dragon flies and newts
Hi Jane, absolutely made upbfot you getting a pond in, it will be lovely. Looking forward to seeing it nuture wildlife. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
I'm so happy for you Jane ❤️ I do love a pond especially where you can sit with a cuppa and watch your water feature. Oh yes you'll have to get one of those now too! 😂 Can't wait to see it all planted up, it's going to look fabulous 👍😍 Thanks for the mention Jane ❤️
I went out to my pond and I've got two big lumps of frogspawn that have appeared overnight. Last year I had just one - it's great to observe how the eggs develop into teeny tadpoles.
Loved your exitement for this pond. I have been wanting a wildlife pond in my garden for years, but it has not happend yet. I will bee super exited when it does. 😊
My word, that looks dry! We're still sopping wet...standing water in the greenhouse yesterday after another night of rain. Here's hoping we can catch up soon. I probably ought to reinstate my pond but I can't bear to contemplate dealing with more water features. Great video.
Oh no that sounds miserable. It was the first dry day we'd had for a while but, looking back at the footage, it was so dark! Here's to brighter weather ahead! Thank you.
I too have severe allergies to mosquitoes and black flies. Still gardening! My back yard is INSANE in the New Jersey summer with them. But I would also like a water feature in my postage sized garden but I would def have a solar fountain in any one I do install. P.s. Mike should keep Benadryl (don't know if it has a different name in the UK) and maybe an EpiPen (brand name, again possibly different name for a Epinephrine emergency needle kit in England.) in the shed, and let folks know where it is! Lovely idea, the pond. Enjoy! 🎉❤
Yes Mike does use Benadryl occasionally but a good idea to keep it in our medical tin in the shed. I wonder if you build up a slight protection to them after a while? This size pond might be ideal for your space as it is rather 'petite' but hopefully it will bring in some welcome visitors - we shall see! Thanks Anne x
Def always have some Benadryl on hand. No, unfortunately you don't build up a tolerance (maybe a bit as you get older) but physiological changes can improve it (having babies, menopause - sorry Mike!) but then it can surprise you and get worse too! Best to be safe. I get super frustrated and spray on mosquito spray when I'm working in the garage for a long while. It helps but it means a big shower!
🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍 I feel Mike's hesitance on the pond. I really get plonked by multiple mosquito and other insect bites. I actually plant citronella and other insect repelling plants near our patio. That will be a nice feature in the plot. Great place to view from as well. Those rhubarb leaves will shade a portion too. Hopefully frogs, dragonflies etc. will inhabit quickly and eat 'em. Getting near 8k......
I'm hoping if we have some moving water the nasties will stay away - we can only try! I'm so excited about trying out the trail cam - let's just hope it catches something nice and doesn't turn into a scene from The Blair Witch Project! Thanks Robin x
🐝Thanks for the great video🌻 1 nice cardboard!!! 2 yheaaa nice pond!! I got a kiddy pool for this season and got a cheap solar pump. Same reason watched linda and danny! TIP muskito;s dont like moving water ;)
Absolutely love it, I’m desperate for a pond too….need to finish getting the polytunnel up first 😂 I’m a bit overwhelmed at how big it looks (10ft x 15ft) but thought best go bigger if I can.

Good job Jane. Ponds no matter their size brings so many benefits to the garden. Awesome stuff
Let's hope so! It might be the smallest pond on RUclips but I have very big expectations! Thanks Tony.

And here was me saying we definitely don't need anything else! Thanks Clare.
@@JanesGrowingGarden ha! There’s always something else, right? I suggest you keep a bottle of Avon skin soft handy for the midges for Mike 😂😅
@@TheFarmyardGarden that's the magic potion!
That’s very exciting news about your pond arriving and I can’t wait to see the developments over the next few weeks!
I've drawn so many little doodles on scraps of paper but I'm sure it will work itself out! Thanks Brigid.
Love the pind 😍 will be a great addition for the ambiance and nature 🌱
Oh I hope so - whether I will get any work done is a different matter! Thank you.
That's an exciting project and position. Great video. I look forward to your pond activity.
Thank you - update this weekend!

Oh but doesn't it just go to show even the smallest pot of water can make such a difference - I bet the kids loved making it! Thank you.
Good video 🐦⬛🐦⬛
Thank you!
That is going to be so good for the garden. Looking forward to seeing what visits :)
Me too - let's hope I can work the trail cam out next! Thank you.
Hi Jane,
A pond brings in so much wild life, especially the birds for there baths.
Absolutely - it won't be as grand as yours but it's a start! Thanks Ady.
I think you finally resting spot for the pond is great cos the frogs will love sheltering under the rhubarb.
I might take some of it out but will certainly leave the frogs plenty of shelter. Thank you.

Oh I do love a dragon fly - to me they are quite magical! Let's hope we're in for a few surprises. Thank you.
Hi Jane, absolutely made upbfot you getting a pond in, it will be lovely. Looking forward to seeing it nuture wildlife. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
I've been doing some planting today so things are starting to fill in already! Thanks Christine.

Yes we definitely need a solar something or other - if only to keep the midgies at bay! Thanks for the inspiration!

It will happen - one day! Looking forward to getting this one planted up and seeing what comes to visit! Thank you.

Great idea with the kiddy pond. I will be ordering a solar pump - let's just hope we get enough sun for it to work! Thank you.

Oh that's the same size as ours. Don't worry - it'll soon fill up and then you'll wish you'd gone even bigger! Good luck.
Hi Jane Mozzies hate running water so try to get a solar fountain to keep the wster moving. They love still stagnant water so hopefully youll be great
Yes I'm on the lookout as we speak! Thanks Gaynor.

True - just a bit worried it might get a bit too big though - we shall see! Thank you.
