  • In this episode of Let's Talk About Butt Stuff I have an exciting announcement, times two!! I'm so excited and happy your going to feel that energy through the screen! For anyone with inflammatory bowel disease, or IBD, whether that's Crohn's, or ulcerative colitis, remicade is a very common treatment. What is also all too common is constant battles with your insurance company to pay for those ongoing treatments.
For those suffering from Crohn's stress can be a trigger for a flare and nothing is more stressful than worrying whether or not your insurance company is going to pay for your treatment! That's an awful feeling, and not too helpful for dealing with stress! I can't wait to update you on this ongoing battle.
For those struggling with fistulizing Crohn's disease you know all about setons. What a joy! I have two, whatever I did in a past life to earn that honor, I'm genuinely sorry! But in all seriousness they are uncomfortable and not anything you want to experience if you don't have to. A friend here on RUclips said it best when she described it like having barbed wire back there...and that's not a pleasant place for barbed wire! Any of us dealing with this have been counting the days until we can we get them removed, so sit tight for an update on that.
This is an overview of my experience with this from the point of getting sick in September of 2019 to diagnosis in March of 2020. My hope is that these videos can be informative to others who are seeking information about Crohn's and the treatments available to them. Be prepared, I tell it like it is, so these videos will go into pretty graphic detail about the "butt stuff."
Since January I had two EUAs (Exam Under Anesthesia) that resulted in one partial fistulotomy and two setons (drains) being placed. Two colonoscopies and two MRIs. I began Remicade infusions in mid-March, I incorrectly state in the video my start date for Remicade, apologies it's been a year. I'm also currently on Azathioprine an oral immune suppressant (chemo).
