Got the EU version (different color scheme but specs, dimensions etc. identical) branded "Parkside", the electronics (motor control PCP) died on me after less than TWO MINUTES (low band speed) and minimal load 1/2 mild steel tube. Seems like some TRIACS are either not designed to handle the load or there is insufficient cooling. Probably both. ... I'm now waiting for my 4th replacement machine ;-)

Wow, that's too bad... I don't know, maybe American version is better, I'm still using it often and it performs like a champ! Hopefully your fifth one will beat previous four by far!

@@Take_And_Make I am sure the US variant is better, as they were the primary market. The 240V version was introduced later (nobody over here knows what a Portaband is) and apparently the changes to the PCB were done in a hurry ... my old engineering professor was head of engineering at B&D and later Fein and he told us stories about quick fixes in the wiring of machines to comply with regional standards...
