    I test rode this bike back in 1993 at Americade, Lake George NY. What a blast! I was very impressed with how well it handled. Congratulations

    I remember seeing that in a magazine ad as a kid and was so amazed by it. Definitely a unique bike.

    Cool video. Mine is same colour and has full OE panniers. It turns heads wherever it goes and it rides like a dream, i think i know what you mean about knee down, it has always inspired confidence. I've ridden out with lots of different bikes and for nearly 30 years old this bike still holds its own. Congrats man.

    My '93 GTS 1000 was undoubtedly the best bike I have owned. Although the bike goes beautifully, the handling and braking really set it apart. The RADD suspension eliminates brake dive and fork compression in hard cornering. Thanks to the huge, center-mass Brembo on the front, NOTHING stops like a GTS. Wonderful bike. Availability of certain parts has become dicey - particularly the ABS module and the front shock.

      I think it’s a great bike, super underrated. i know some parts are hard to find. I’ve heard people are starting to remanfacutre some of the harder parts.

    Another owner here. When the GTS was introduced I was a disciple in the church of "funny front ends" and I wanted to see one on an out and out sports bike. That Yamaha put it on a stodgy sports tourer was a disappointment to me. Then I found myself in the USA, not only wanting to ride the best sports bike roads, but also to see some of what is obviously a very large country. Via a Kawasaki ZX10 I ended up with a GTS and have ridden one ever since (1997). I'm not saying it's better or even as good as more modern bikes, but it always feels special, the design has aged exceptionally well.
    Keep the chain oiler. I have a Scottoiler on mine and I have just replaced the original chain at 70k miles, probably three sets of sprockets, but one chain.

      What a great story and awesome news on that chain! Do you have any favorite long trips with the GTS?

      @@MCCJustMotos I've never used the GTS as a touring bike as such, never meandered around sight seeing. Over the course of several multi-day rides I've explored the best roads in Washington State, Southern BC, Northern Oregon and little bit of Idaho and Montana. The longest of those rides took us via Mts Rainier, St Helens and Hood, across North Eastern Oregon, through the LoLo Pass to Missoula. Then a mile or two of dirt road into the valley of the St Joe river (my personal favorite stretch). Through Coeur d'Alene and Spokane on to the Colville Reservation and Okanagan Highlands. Returning to the I5 corridor via the North Cascades Highway. A satisfying ride ends with your tires looking as if you've been on a track day.

      Awesome and those riders sound really good!

    it will fire up and roll any time I want! Mine looks just like yours... even the (yours looks like) Corbin Seat. I bought it strictly as a collectors item. Hasn't appreciated as much as I'd hoped tho. But I appreciate it! Wish they had done a single sided rear swingarm on it as well ala VFR. I remember when they came out I thought they were butt ugly but now I love the way it looks.

    • @MCCJustMotos
      @MCCJustMotos  3 года назад

      Agree! a double single sided swingarm scenario would have blown even more minds!!

    I bought one about 10 yrs ago. from original owner who had not ridden it in years. I mothballed it and still have it. 5400 miles. Was the luggage on yours factory?

    • @MCCJustMotos
      @MCCJustMotos  3 года назад +1

      That's pretty cool....are you going to get back up and running? These are NOT factory luggage. They were wrapped to match but they are generic panniers with Yamaha sticky logos and home made mounting lol. Thanks for stopping by the channel!

      @@MCCJustMotos I bought it in 2013, it's a great bike, great ride and lots of oomph. No fiddling with carburetors and it's got abs. The wind screen is low although I'm only 5'8". I'll be selling it tho as it's too powerful for me and too many jackass drivers where I am. ride safe! 😊

    the gts was produced all the way to 1998 in the rest of the world, and the brake caliper is made by sumitomo/advics
