This video was fine, JD! Who doesn’t love a sheared flywheel key replacement, after all! 😉 Another cause for kickback is lack of a blade on a mower. Ask me how I know! Turns out the blade acts as part of the inertia on startup instead of a heavier flywheel on some machines. Who knew?! I’m guessing it adds to the initial compression on the air/fuel mixture in the combustion chamber.
As i recall, nearly every mower i rescued from the curb had a sheared flywheel key. Made me feel like a real mechanic to throw in a new key, and the thing would often fire right up. I agree with your decision not to beat on the crankshaft of somebody else's mower. Might work, might not... and might break something! Thanks for the video!
Great video like always. I love watching you and all your sayings it being quite a lot of joy I was riding my 4-wheeler one time crashed it and broke the needle on the carb and it flew apart I put it all back together with a few zip ties. I was about 40 mins from home and had to ride back wide open or nothing …🙇♂️🙇♂️ to zip ties and leather and
I was just re-watching your Titanium 125 mod video when this one posted. Bought one myself about a month ago and wanted to mod mine like my hero Hester 😁
Quick and Dirty getting me outa hot water? Oh, yeah, I got one for ya! Copper hot water pipe in the laundry room sprouts a leak. Piece of scrap rubber roofing membrane and three screw hose clamps. Fixed until it ain’t! (Eventually, hopefully, I’ll get around to soldering in some new pipe in all three places, although one’s been in place a couple of years and no sign of giving up. It’s all about priorities.) 😁🔧👍
I wonder who made that mower for J.D.? Looked like it said Snapper on the blade adapter. Glad you got it running for the guy. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thanks for all the entertaining and helpful videos!
I absolutely saw Snapper! I kept yelling at JD that it was a Snapper Adapter (don't laugh) but he couldn't hear me, which is kind of odd since we only live an hour apart and I yell pretty loud. ;-)
Doesn’t matter if it won’t start unless you’ve figured out how to blow snow with a lawn mower! 😂 Hey, wait! If they can mulch, bag or blow maybe we can make one that also deals with snow!!! I am so brilliant! 😂❄️❄️❄️
Pretty soon there'll be YT small engine guys taking Italian lessons to communicate with customers. Who knew? I should be OK though - grandfather from Abruzzi, grandmother from Napoli, plus I eat pasta at least once a week. From scratch I've made pizza, ravioli, several different pasta's, scratch Bolognese - you name it!

That's right, Most push mowers rely on the blade's weight to provide adequate flywheel inertia 👍🏻

So many machines thrown out for a $1 part. And yes, I never make bets with other peoples money, especially with my luck Lol
I love your methodical approach. Your DIY magnetic bent shaft indicator is awesome. Stuff like that comes from experience. Excellent work! 👍👍
Thank you very much! That means a lot 👍🏻

That's wild! But hey I'm glad to hear you made it home 👍🏻
Congrats! 4K subscribers. Keep 'em rollin'. you'll be at 10K before you know it.
Thank you very much! 10k feels like a mountain away but then again I never thought I'd get this far lol
A DIY bent crankshaft analyzer! I have one of those! Why didn’t anyone ever tell me that’s what it’s for? Frickin brilliant! 🔧👍
If it's stupid but it works right?! Lol
Well done Hester! I do my flywheels the same way. Im super jealous of the lift too!
Thanks Ray! The way my back is I don't think I could do without it! Lol

That's been my favorite mod! Highly recommended 👍🏻

Yes! I don't know how I didn't see that. But it definitely could be made by them!
Speak up! 😂
I fixed my Cherokee rear access shocks with a free pair of locking pliers I found in the road.
That's the best! Love it when things like that happen 👍🏻
How come you cut that twine away? That’s what was supposed to hold the blade from spinning on the adapter! 😁
😂👍🏻

My family is also Abruzzi! Nothing beats homemade pasta 🤌🏻

Truth, brother!
If key way is bad I put dial on crack shaft, then remove and put in alinement tool to fix
Unfortunately I don't have one of those alignment jigs. And with a mower in this shape I'm not sure it would be worth the hassle
So how did you use that impact wrench to remove the blade if all your power tools are somewhere else? 😂😂😂
Lol I said my impact driver was at my buddies house. I wouldn't want to use a 3/8 impact on 1/4 head bolts 😂
I saw a quick fix one summer day on the road one model t towing another with a big rubber tire tube tied between there bumpers yankee engineintgenuity
That's awesome! 👍🏻
