In my country there is a distinction between filming a situation and filming a person. Filming random idiots drowning their cars is fine, you're filming the situation. Filming some guy trying to mend his drowned car is also fine, because you're focusing on the situation, not the guy. Once you start making it about the specific guy you need consent. Funny thing is, your video wasn't about the guy until the point where he started mouthing off, so he kinda created the problem himself.. 🙂

@@jaygee5693 Denmark. It's to protect the privacy of the citizens, even in public places. We also have pretty strict rules against putting up surveillance cameras that films public places.
You're perfectly fine doing a wide shot of people drinking coffee at an outdoor cafe, but you can't stick your camera up the noses of the couple at table 4, because that makes it about them rather than the general situation and they are allowed to drink their coffee without being harassed.
Same thing with a surveillance camera, it's perfectly fine to film your own driveway, but if you angle it so it also covers your neighbours back yard, you're violating their right to privacy.
In a world with more and more cameras I actually like that there are rules in place to protect my right to privacy, even in public places.
And stuff like these car drowning videos would be perfectly fine to film in Denmark too, it's the general situation being filmed, not the people involved. These videos never seems to focus on the people, unless it's some loudmouth insisting on grabbing your attention.

so it was a surprise for me yesterday when I was out visiting a customer and the SatNav took me through this ford (I'm the Blue Tesla in the middle of the video)
and I suddenly thought "oh dear, I recognise this bit of road, and look there are people with video cameras, I better not doing anything silly"
if you do something silly (like ignoring the road signs that say "flood, road closed" and someone takes a photo/video of it, then you need to accept the consequences of the world being able to see what a stupid thing you did

Most of those vehicles you filmed there should have no problems with water levels like that. However, a couple of the car drivers were lucky. I drove through similarly high water (admittedly for a much longer flooded area) when I inadvertently hit a flooded road in my Citroen Picasso in 2016 while I was living in Ireland and totalled it - water got into the engine through the air intake and warped the cams. A new engine would be cheaper I was told - it was time to get a new car anyway...

I drowned a BMW 335d in a deep puddle 6 years ago. Came half way up the wheel. I was in a diesel AWD, so I thought "what can go wrong?"
What I didn't realise was, that the air intake is behind the fog light, low down. So naturally, the engine sucked it straight up.
The car cost me £28,500 to buy, and the repair bill from BMW was £27,600!! Fortunately, LV Insurance paid out £27,000. So off I went to buy another one. 😁 and kept it very dry.

Looking at some of the idiots in the vid, I would say they look like they're trying to write off the cars. They go in at 20 mph!!

I reckon many of these vehicles inhale a load of water (no surprisingly), which saturates the air filter, stopping the engine when the sensors kick in (on newer cars). If the air filter is replaced or removed (if the sensors allow) then they may run again. If the car stops in the water and it gets in then it may be written off. I wonder how many of these vehicles are written off ?🤔
