This song is so seductive it almost makes one want go and beg at The Golden Lady's door, only to end up at the end of her leash, crawling on the floor, bleeding form a thousand sores, reduced to a ghoul, her slave for all days, never to know again the ecstasy of her first kiss, once the monkey bites and turns the world into a Kaleidoscope of never-ending pain, spasms of need and the end of all else... love, comfort, humanity no more! Pain and death are the only reward for those who become Her slaves!
Gea Vox I'm pretty impressed by your description of (addiction to) heroin is an elusive, warm friend that's hard to understand why/how exactly it's got you by the tail. But it does. Thanks.
...yeah, so if you're still alive... stay the FUCK away from anyone considered to be a DOCTOR. You ain't nuttin but a giant guinea pig. BTW, .. hope you ARE alive my friend, we're all in this together.
You are CONFUSED. Read my words again, if you understand the English language I made NO reference to the actual composition from the Stranglers. My comment was in reference to the harsichord 'sound' and the respective arrangement. Get your facts straight before you try to communicate in a second language.
I think that person is referring to 'Baroque pop' which was indeed the idea (at least) of fusing the 'sound' of baroque/early classical music with pop/rock music that became somewhat popular in the 1960s. There were quite a few British bands in the 1960s that made similiar music in style to this (as well as American bands too and elsewhere). It's worth remembering that The Stranglers, as a band, were not initially a 'punk rock' band when they formed and most of their work doesn't really neatly fit into the category of British punk rock - as you see more vividly in their later new wave sound. There were of course other 'punk' bands/musicians who were to later look back to 60s music - XTC comes to mind - who also predated the British wave of punk rock, came to prominence as part of the general explosion of British punk rock and yet came to become a part of the 'new wave'/'post-punk' scene. It sort of shows the amorphous concept of 'punk' which seems to be far more an attitude than a formal style of music.
Damn good extension of this song, I love it so much I can't sleep cuz I got this song in my head & just love it dearly. Well Done, do more you got what it takes. TCAS
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHO ARE THESE 25 PEOPLE THAT SAY DOESN,T LIKE THIS... Incredible. May be they¨d like regheton or shit music. This song Golden Brown are heavenly sounds . I love it. Hope that 25 hate only heroine effects, not the song...
So many good friends that have died from drugs. Often sit and wonder how i've survived through it all. Muscic and movies always seem to make drugs so appealing.
This is great but the quality kinda suck :/ I was gonna do this anyway for my mp3 player because the song is just too damn short. I keep replaying it 20x
Indeed. So can I. "At this moment you should be with us. Feeling like we do. Like you love to. But never will again."-from Three Days by Perry Farrell, Janes Addiction
LOVE the extended version cause i can listen to this forever; couldnt do it to too many other songs cause the instrumental melody is SO GOOD!!!!!
I'm obsessed by the rythm.
A switch between 6/8 and 7/8.
First time, i thought, it's s a mix between 4/4 and waltz.
In-genious!
I prefer to count in 12/8 and then 13/8
Love LOVE love this song......Cant stop listening to it
Tengo 53 Años y apenas estoy escuchando por primera vez.....

err, I think you need specialist mental help dude!!!
... errr, how ya think I got this way? Think I was better off on the drugs to be honest!!!! XD
How does a punk band come up with a harpsichord theme that would make Mozart mad with jealousy? The 80's, that's how.
This sound is from the 60's NOT THE 80's. Cannot remember the British pop group that invented this sound but it was not the Stranglers.....

Greenfield was the Stranglers' hidden gem.
I loved this the first time I heard it. Before I knew that it was about something that pulled me under water.
