In this video I will explain the GUT Era where gravity separates from the super force.
Another mind blowing lesson, thank you!
You illustrate how short the GUT era lasted (10^-36 seconds), but it lasted 10,000,000× longer than it's age at its beginning! If one Planck time was one second, the GUT epoch lasted almost four months!
And the electroweak era went on for about a trillion trillion years after that (10^24 4 month periods give or take). Which then ended, in "our" timescale of course, one picosecond after the big bang.
How many different elementary particles there were during that time?
a very good teacher
Is the universe = this superforce + the space surrounding it?
or
Was the superforce everything in existence at the time?
This is important because it changes what one means when they say that the universe is expanding.
If the universe was a small dot existing inside the context of empty space THEN we can say that the universe is expanding into space.
BUT
If the universe (the superforce) was all that there was then it cannot expand because it has no greater context to expand into THEREFORE empty space is something INSIDE of the universe.
We still don't have the answers to all these questions. The best thing to do is to take the results of all of observations and slowly build up a theory of how we understand the universe.
Hi, I am The Grand Unified Theory!
We are still looking. 😂
Not aware of photons turning directly into protons/neutrons, can you elaborate? Would've assumed that the photon would initially turn into a quark THEN the quark would form protons/neutrons with the help of gluons
This is of course a simplified look at it, but it is known that in order to create a proton or a neutron you need a photon with nearly 2 GeV of energy.
@@MichelvanBiezen Noted noted. I see. A wikipedia article that I read also alluded to this quite clearly.
Any suggested search terms or books that could help us dig deeper into this transitory nature of high energy photons?
Again, thank you soo much for being so responsive. It's amazing
It is indeed a fascinating topic that goes to the very core of understanding the duality of energy and matter and the existence of the universe. Once I have more time (after I retire from my day job, I would like to continue doing research on this topic and the concept of what the properties of space are and how they affect the speed of light and our ability to travel through it). So much to do and so little time......
A photon at 10E14 GEv may have the energy equal to that of a Proton or Neutron, but that doesn't explain Quarks, and gluons coming into existence and then arranging themselves form these nucleons does it?
No, it doesn't
Nice video
Since my comment/question is aimed at scientists I need not explain too much. Only that unless we abandon Relativity, Gravity is not a force, so.......need I say more about GUT and its "separation" from Gravity?
What era did the higs bosson start ?
In the big bang theory, the higs boson did not repressent an "era". The time period during which the protons and neutrons were formed is called the "hadron era".
@@MichelvanBiezen Isn't it the Electroweak era?
