CHINCHILLA. She produces her own music and is as incredible at it as she is at singing. Little Girl Gone for production. Fingers LIVE or 1:5 LIVE for her glorious voice range. Elements Lyrics because it’s a rad fun song and she steals your heart in it. Go, go listen to Chinchilla. I really think the stuff she does in production with her voice will tickle you!
The best musical “siblings”. Ren has called her his sister from another mister and a female version of himself due to their similar approach to music. For me I think it shows in the fact that they both have that something special that draws you in and demands attention. To see it fully for Chinchilla, check out her live version of Fingers.
This song always reminds that one of the (many) things that makes Ren so great is his ability to know exactly when to be complex, keep it simple, or even use silence to get his message across. He isn’t flexing his guitar skills in this, just playing exactly what is needed with that beautiful guitar tone. And my favourite line in this is so simple, totally devoid of all the clever metaphors that he is so good at using, but it hits soooo hard: “I’m scared of being okay cause all things change”. I think anyone who has been through any struggles can relate to that feeling of not trusting that anything good will last. You can’t just enjoy it because you’re busy worrying about how long it will last and the feeling that will come when it’s gone. And then good days just make the darkness feel so much worse because you remember the light that’s gone… Ren is so special. He keeps being so relatable that it reminds us that we’re not alone. And we will always make room for more RENegades down the Ren rabbit hole cause we all need his light in the darkness 🐰🕳️
If you want more emotional singing from Ren, please check out one of my personal favourites: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before he was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and beautiful. And very different from everything else in his catalogue.
The song is about how it feels to take medications for treating depression, like Sertraline. Your symptoms dissapear, but you don't feel like yourself, you are walking around like a living dead ("in a shalk outline"). They also mention how hard it is to stop taking them since you are afraid of feeling the bad feelings again ("take them just in case").
I have myself never taken pills like this, but from what other have said the lyric describe the feeling perfectly.
I really like this song, and also reactions to it (and I have really liked other reactions by Klown), but having him being distracted by the live chat is very distracting. Specially when the chat is discussing unrelated things or saying things that are not true. Will probably not watch any more of these..

I have listened to the Azariah version and it's good, but it doesn't have the same impact for me as Ren and Chinchilla using their own words to tell their own story. The raw emotion and authenticity is a different level, though you can see that it really spoke to Azariah too. Music is so powerful.

I'm going to have to join the resounding chorus of people urging you to do some reactions to Chinchilla- she's a phenomenal artist with a stunning vocal range, incredible production skills... and she makes her own hats etc! In an early review a psychotherapist who worked in an institution commented that this description, "chalk outline" was actually one he'd heard several times from people on specific meds. They no longer felt solid and real. Permeable (chalk) and only an outline of themselves.
Oddly enough I saw this as my second Ren song and have requested this for Klown before he even knew eshplum could beatbox! Then it was how i found Azariaha and recommended it to my friend Klown and not even a like or heart! Well, you have come full circle, and finally found it on your own clown. I’m proud of you great reaction and two of my three favorite artist of all of RUclips. I love Azaria, but he is covering Ren not the other way around and my opinion is and will be one of the top five musicians of all time. Washing yourself down with a new habit after new habit and even on good days you take the drug anyway because you’re afraid the goodness is going to run out and you’re gonna end up hurting yourself so you walk around with the smile smile, but you’re walking around, but you’re dead inside.
