The NHL’s year is nearly done, so: Thanks, guys, for all the Got Yer Back podcasts this season! You all consistently did very well. And thanks to GYB’s honorable sponsors for their support of your lavish lifestyles. ps. How did Backscape get a sasquatch to shave his back in that commercial? Go Oil.

We are witnessing NHL history being made, it's a once in a life time event that we will never see happen again, in our life, so watch the game and enjoy this special event. Go Oilers go.

Yep, exactly what I've been posting everywhere - especially @ oiler haters (Canuck/FLames fans). I really feel sorry for them, in the future they will regret looking at the series that way. Only fan base that shouldn't be enjoying this, drinking this up, is the Panthers fan base.

@@MoMoMyPup10 really, how so? It's the only the third time in 100+ years a team has come back from down three in the FINALS to take it to a game 7. And one bounce the right way it's OT. This was a classic series, and those who didn't watch it missed out. That's a fact and won't age poorly at all. Another fact - THIRTY teams were watching, not playing. Another fact, our entire core is signed for next year - ALL OF THEM - we'll be back don't worry about that lol.

@@KptKrunch9481 Rah rah rah is all good but you put the cart before the horse and wrote off the Stanley Cup Champions, of which I had no horse in the race as an Islanders fan. In case you hadn't noticed, this is a very competitive league right now and winning 4 series in a row is harder than ever. You can hold your head up moving forward but I suggest not putting the cart before the horse in the future.

@@MoMoMyPup10 Really? Cart before the horse? Umm, here's a news flash for you - I'm a FAN - ALL FAN's cheer for THEIR TEAM - you realize that right? Yeah, we lost in the final. Bet your team would've given their eye teeth to of been in that position. We've lost to the SC Champs the past 3 years (Colorado in round 3, Vegas in round 2, and now Panthers). Our core is fully intact next year so I'm thinking we get that Cup next year? Is that putting the cart before the horse? I really don't understand that comment unless I'm an Islanders fan wondering if I'll even make the playoffs next year lol. Sheesh, what would you of said if you were in my position - 'we suck a$$ and Panthers are going to smoke us' - yeah right.

Just a stat note: One source has Kulak as a -1 (which is impossible, he got an assist on a goal and even if he was on ice for the one goal Florida got he'd be a zero so I set him as a zero). There are occasionally mess-up's like this, eventually they get fixed.
“I'm not too sure what the stats are on coming back from it,” Skinner said that night, “but if anyone can do it, it's the Oil.” Came back they did with records and willpower.
Tonight, Hyman overtakes Ovechkin and Crosby for the most goals in a playoffs for an active player. Ovi and Sid are no slouches. The Oilers join a rare club and they did it in a bizarre fashion. McDavid got ZERO Shots on Goal and didn't contribute to a single point yet twelve Oilers (out of 19) got on the scoreboard INCLUDING the Goalie Stuart Skinner with a PRIMARY ASSIST.
To me I noticed the Janitor, Mattias Janmark a lot. Foegele too (and Leon winced after the saucer pass to Foegele for the first goal, I noticed it on replay but maybe that was just a YEAH! kind of wince). No Forward played more than Nuge's 19:15 and it dropped off fairly quickly from there. Leon played 16:40, I mean Broberg played more than Leon, so did Kulak. Ryan did great in the dot for us (and someone wanted to trade him out for an iffy Kane, look in the mirror and slap yourself).
Stats wise this one was loads of fun. Same # of shots. Florida out hit Edmonton by over a 2-1 ratio (43 to 21). Faceoff wins were close (Florida 27, Edmonton 30). Both PK's at 100%. After that it gets interesting. Edmonton had slightly more giveaways (13 to Florida's 11) but over triple the # of takeaways (18 for Edmonton to 5 for Florida). Edmonton blocked double the # of shots (22 to 11). It's these last 2 base stats that really tell the game for me. If you're stripping or pick pocketing pucks and blocking double what your opponent is with the same # of shots on net odds are pretty good you'll win.
It's ONE GAME. Now they just need ONE MORE. That one, it's the one that matters the most. Edmonton can throw a party and Edmonton SUPPORTS their teams. When restaurants that have lounges are using the restaurants as overflow seating as the lounges are packed, take a wild guess how bouncing it was. I'm thrilled for the places that earned a lot of money during these events. They'll be packed again Monday. Merch is selling off the shelves faster than it can be gotten or stocked. The entire city seems to be into it and I'm grateful that I live in a city that cares. Win (hopefully) or Lose the boys know the city is with them. The comments made on live mics show that they are with us too. Take care all.

Only a historic comeback by the Oilers to end the Series could equal the incredible bed crapping we saw them do to start the Series, we are seeing another bipolar production from Mcdavid and Co.......and its been spectacular to witness....nobody has been accurate reading this Series...its an ANOMALY....like the Oilers and the Panthers both seem to be. .... everybody with an Opinion punched their ticket @ the beginning of the Playoffs and I thought Skinner would have blown them all up by now, but he did not, he crushed me and my finger-pointing and stole game 5 and was solid in Game 6....I said Skinners inconsistency and penchant for blowing games and raw green Rookie Head Coaching again were to much to overcome and they all proved me wrong ....to my surprise besides the expected Connor going Supernova its been Janmark with help from Brown and Holloway who have been the drivers for Edmonton. if Depth Scoring can continue and if Skinner can stay hot and if Mcdavid can go Supernova just 1 more time.....then all of History changes and the Connor Mcdavid Era becomes Official. Has an NHL Team ever had a pair of real raw green rookie Coaches like Kris and Paul win the Stanley Cup? I think Strudwicks Scarf might end up behind Glass in a display case beside the Stanley Cup replica at Rogers Place one day soon . Nobody in their right mind bets against Connor Mcdavid in 1 single Game....nobody....and the 2023/24 Stanley Cup will be won in 60 minutes now, its a 1 Game series. There can only be One. This game is where all the contrasting Opinions and false-positive Optics get sorted out in 60 minutes never to be debated or argued again.....there will be winners and losers after Game 7.... Carpe Diem. History shall be written Records shall fall, and Champions shall be made, this is the most exciting SCF in a Decade....even the Reffs have let them play and decide Games themselves.....if a Prime Mcdavid shows up again and goes Supernova then wins his 1st Stanley Cup in this dramatic manner....we will all sadly forget a tiny little bit of Wayne Gretzky and replace it with a fresh new tiny bit of Connor Mcdavid. Sorry Wayne my old buddy....I am ready for Connors Graduation and for his Legacy to elevate again . This Series has been EveryFans Dream Series....what a Beauty....Connor Mcdavid just needs to Bookmark 1 more Game to reach the Stanley Cup Summit...and if any Human on Earth can do it ,he is the Man. I think Struddy should give Mumford his never-washed handmade Scarf as a thank you gift if the Oilers win and string him up with it on Wayne Gretzky Drive if they lose. With all that being lain on the table....I cant change my Ticket now and I am sticking with it..... if Skinner goes from Prince Ruperts Drop to Prince Charming .... then to me he has outplayed every NHL Goalie in the League as a Sophomore and he deserves a legit look for the Conn Smythe....he has been that important....make me a believer.

They needed more speed with Leon because his hand is injured so he can't shoot very well, but he can still pass and skate. That clip of him working on that saucer pass specifically yesterday, tells you the story. We love Nuge but he's not fast enough so this was the perfect move.
