Thank you so much for your generosity in making this awesome video. I've just retired from a career in marketing, and you my friend, are the real deal. So now I'm going to take my passion for creating riddle contests for communities, and create some brain busting books. And who knows? Maybe there's some passive income in my future as well. I will pay your kindness forward by sharing what I learn with others. YOU ROCK!
@@peerthroughmedia Thank you for being honest with your answer here 😊. Really appreciate honesty, and yes indeed things like these are good gifts to give to your loved ones😊. Thanks.
Thank you for the useful information, especially the bleed option, you made it simple to understand, I watched long videos for others about bleed and did not quite understood them like I understood your video. I have some questions, 1-how do I publish my book on amazon in both kindle and print on demand at the same time so both options appear in same page for the buyer? 2- one of my books is 8.5*8.5 and contain 243 pages all pages are bleed, in this case what about the binding size? 3- did you choose the pages inside glossy or matt, they look great. 5- I didn't understand the "royal" thing, for example, if I sell my book for $12 how much I get 6- Finally, do I get the payment after each purchase, or monthly for all purchases each month? Sorry for all these questions :)))
Hey, 1. Hmm, not sure. I'm sure its possible though. 2. I believe they have a chart that tells you the binding size based on pages: kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/GVBQ3CMEQW3W2VL6 3. I can't remember, I think you only chose the cover as glossy or mat though and the pages are what they are. 5. Once you set up your book it will tell you exactly how much you make per sale in each region. 6. It direct deposits into your bank account each month.
Thanks for a very informative video in a short time. My concern is copyright though, do you have copyrights for your own creations or it lays with amazon?
Amazing books! You should definitely launch & advertise more books! 🤩 Why don’t you publish ebooks as well at least for extra advertising? I have a question about illustrations. All the pages inside should be in CMYK (not RGB) or it’s just about the cover page? Thanks!
Thank you so much for this! how does Amazon determine postage costs? is there a flat rate or determined via buyers location? For example if I sell to someone in Australia would I make more back compared to selling to someone in say the USA? as it would cost Amazon more to ship internationally?
Amazon has print houses all around the world. So they take care of the shipping. In the backend, it will tell you how much you make in each market. That includes them deducting whatever they deduct for postage.
Yo. I can't get a straight answer out of Amazon C.S. but maybe you know: can Amazon KDP also do flashcards and card games, or only books? Thanks so much. I can't dig up the answer, even with Amazon seller support; it's been crazy.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. The children's book seems to look great btw! I would definitely buy one if a) I had kids and b) they understood English but unfortunately neither a) nor b) applies ;-)
Very helpful, thanks! I wonder what those who order their independent barcode isbn number do, do they include it in the pdf before sending to Kdp? Also, I made a test copy pdf (132 pages bw drawings every second page) and the pdf became 2gb! I wonder if this sounds realistic to you and if kdp can download such files, or something is wrong with my bookmaking program (Scribus) is rendering defective? Thank for kind attention and good luck with your creations!!
great video I'm trying my first children's book, very similar to yours. .I'm only 18 pages including using the cover inside flap and the back flap. does 24 pages include front cover and back cover ? I understand your comment on filler, but I was going to put the copy right on the inside flap cover, and thank you on the back flap. my story is 15 pages.
Is the illustrator the one that added the text to you pages or is this something you can do on kdp during publishing? Do they have nice fonts like that to add?
You add it before publishing in photoshop. So either you or the illustrator. I don’t think there is much in terms of design when it comes to amazing kdp. You upload the finished pdf and then just proof it through their platform (at least when it comes to picture books)
Not a lawyer/didn’t look into it, so unsure- but HIGHLY doubt it. Amazon biz would be more interested in keeping authors on their platform than taking small author IP. Wouldn’t be worth their time or the bad PR
You can browse around and look. I looked at Barnes & Novel and they own the ISBN. I don't think Amazon does from what I remembered on my research. Best thing to do is get your book Copyright first via the government before putting it online. That way no one can try any funny business because it is legally yours.
Thank you! Ha, I don’t want to dissuade you with my abysmal stats. Like $10 a month per book, but honestly I don’t market them what so ever (other than this video as a round about way to market them). I love having them out there though and I keep like 10 copies of each at my house and give them to neighborhood kids/friends kids etc. it’s really fun and rewarding.
Good video, thanks for the information. I have a question about the fonts used for making a book. Did you purchase all of the fonts used in your printed work to make sure you have full licensing? Part of the KDP information mentions something about this, and being able to embed the fonts. I am on the first step of a very tall staircase for creating my own children's book, and trying to absorb as much details as possible. Thank you.
If you're using photoshop to compile your book you automatically purchase the rights to use the default fonts commercially, other fonts you'll have to buy (but they shouldn't be very expensive)
Do you or anyone know if I can just get the ISBN # and have my book printed myself and just sell it on my amazon seller account? I've been selling used and new books on Amazon for years, and many times when the price of the book goes down, they de-activate my listing until I bring my price down to match the lowest. This worries me that they might do that with my book. Anybody know?
Thanks for your video and I’ll def be checking out your books :)! I was wondering if once you self publish on Amazon, are you “stuck” with them or if a publisher picked it up that is okay? I appreciate any advice
Nice. Thank you! As to your question, I think that depends on the publisher and your unique situation. To make an educated guess though, I would assume it lowers your chances of a publisher taking you on if your book is already out there.
Yeah, it's 24 pages. But you'll need things like the opening copyright page, probably a duplicate of the title, maybe a thank you page, a blank page at the beginning and end might work. (They limit how many blank pages you can have). So you can likely make a book that is 15 pages of content stretch to 24.
Hey. Do you upload your PDF print cover as a CYMK or RGB file (Amazon say themselves it should be a CYMK file)? I'm awaiting my proof copy, but compared to my eBook thumbnail that is fine, my print thumbnail images all look washed out and poor. Even though the file itself when viewed is fine. Thanks.
Hi sir, I have a query , what if I create designs for low/no content books from Canva which are licence free and once I publish, can anyone else copy my design and get their product trademarked or copyrighted ?Can you please advice for situation like this?
Im not entirely sure I understand. You can only have so many blank pages in your book though. So KDP is not really an option for things like workbooks or blank journals. As for copyright law, no idea really. Usually once you publish something you have a copyright as "you're the first to use it in commerce" - but I am far from a lawyer so take that with a grain of salt.

Sadly, I have sold very few. I LOVE giving them out though as gifts to friends.

Hey what if you want to make a coloring book . What be best to turn into a real book
Great video and awesome colourful book! Is it a standard color interior or premium one?
Thank you! Most likely standard, as I don't think there was that option when I printed. Made it a year or so ago now at this point.

Do you publish globally or within your country? Can you first published within your country and then go global? Or need to figure that the first time
You can choose by region I believe. I just went globally to start because seemed no reason not to given my roll out strategy.

I believe you can update the interior/exterior at anytime, but you'll need to get it "re-approved" and would likely want to order a new proof.
Is the illustrator the one that added the text to you pages or is this something you can do on kdp during publishing? Do they have nice fonts like that to add?

Hi very informative video, thank you for it. Who sets the price for the Book, the Author or Amazon?
Heyo, the author does. And Amazon will show you their royalty vs your profit
Do they own the rights if ISBN is from them? Thank you

@@peerthroughmedia so many authors have no to low content books on kdp. How can they get their books on kdp with zero content?
