    Getting into the waffles..trim nose down a little, keep a little power, full flaps(reduces stall speed most) power modulation to get to "top of slide" of glideslope, let her ease in on stabilized approach..soon as she loses airspeed, wing just plants through ground effect cusion..sweet greaser!
    Power off is all "setup & SWOOP!"

    Thanks for the heads up about the slats. I’m putting blenderm tape on mine to secure them. Good info on the higher approaches because I agree that a flat approach is not the way to go with this beauty. Thanks for the great video!

    I took out my slats and vortex generators on mine. I also barely use any flaps to land. She lands so well clean, all that extra help is unnecessary. I found that the slats complicated higher speed flight. It's only good for super slow flight, which is dangerous in high wind, and you will get bored slow flight in still conditions. Basically with flaps and slats, she's a stationary kite flying into a headwind.

      Great hobby, everyone can choose what they want to do. For low time pilots slow flight is a good part of the envelope to explore. My point, help anyone know what to expect and speak to those who might have bought more plane than they can handle.

    • @renaldolama9517
      @renaldolama9517 2 месяца назад +1

      @@PilotRyanMedia That's what I'm trying to get across though, the slats for me made the plane trickier to handle. It needed more aileron trimming, and constant elevator trimming based on the airspeed. The slats may actually complicate flying for a beginner because it requires more attention to trimming and the radio.

      @renaldolama9517 Thanks, I am a beginner. What about the vortex generators, do you recommend removing them for my maiden flight? BTW the maiden flight will be on float.

    • @renaldolama9517
      @renaldolama9517 2 месяца назад +1

      @@motovick In my experience I had no benefit from the vortex generators. I still had STOL capability with the clean wing. The motor is so powerful, and the wing is so large I think you would be ok clean. That being said, I have never tried floats. I assume with the added weight and drag, slats will help. Just be ready to trim because the slats are flexible and may not be perfect. They can definitely affect the roll of the aircraft, which is why I took them off in the first place. My maiden was with flaps and slats.

      @@motovick She is a great flyer, don't be scared of your maiden. She's big and heavy on the ground, but flies like a feather in the air. Fly with confidence, she won't let you down. Best plane I ever bought.

    Good emergency landing..
    Slats won't help acrobatic handling but will help do some epic spins

      Yes it will

    • @francisconti9085

      @@PilotRyanMedia *Gives more autorotative effect in spin because one wing is producing so much more lift than stalled side, and airflow over leading edge through slat angles the lift more forward on the leasing edge..literally PULLS..
      *This air that "whips" over the leading edge from the high pressure underneath when wing is stalled what keeps blades windmilling(and can overspeed WITHOUT engine power) during autorotation in helicopters..
      With airplanes, if one wing is DEEPER in stall than the other, it creates MORE DRAG, LIKE AN ANCHOR..AND OTHER WING WHIPS IT AROUND LIKE A MAPLE KEY "HELICOPTER"..😬
      Greater angle of attack generates MORE LIFT* LOAD= high-lift, LOADED condition when all goes to heck..DECREASING LIFT OF WING TAKES OUT THE ENERGY THAT CAUSES SPINNING..
      Nose down cures stall and lack of control effectiveness by returning controllable airspeed..pulling stick back will just tighten the spin..(*it'll auger in real good..)
      I REGULARLY practice slow flight, minimum controllable airspeed, stalls & spins.. in the waffle zone! Watch out for the maple syrup!😉👍

    Timbers all like a little power on landing, otherwise you gotta NAIL airspeed/glideslope, then crank the flare like a small helicopter autorotating..crow or sparrow landing!

    Can you do a high, steep approach with a bit of reverse thrust? That would cool.

  • @francisconti9085

    Power on stall will tend always left from P factor, power off may lead right, but keeping wings level with rudder (like a 3 channel bird) gives you best "clean entry" to stall😉

    So far since I have owned my Super Timber I have had to replace a warped right wing that needed 52 clicks of trim, the slats flew off during flight and half of the clips stayed on the plane the rest were not glued properly, the landing gear tray separated from the fuselage and had to have the paint scraped off and be epoxied and I had a flat tire due to a puncture. That is a total of 6 flights with no crashes or hard landings. For $429 it is not worth buying.
