Most of Ohtani income is within the Japan. He's making ton of cash with Japan advertisers hence why he's is not worried about his Dodgers salary maneuver.
You also forgot that Dodgers gets the biggest peace of the pie too
Deferred payment can save him a lot of Tax from California.
10 yrs later, he can move back to Japan or other state where no state tax required.
i was in japan for 2 months, and i see ohtani ads in a lot of places.
Great video with good editing.
10:24 Roasting the oakland A 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dodgers only paid Ohtani $2 million per year, and he accepted, according to the owner of the Dodgers,Magic Johnson
Ohtani avoiding the income CA tax is a genius move...
Yessir him and his kin is set so does the LA market
He just bought a house in hawaii.
@@briansonnenfelt7125 Maybe not. sd13.senate.ca.gov.
Signing bonus is insane as the contract itself is already massive
what would ohtanis real money contract be without the deferred payments like the net present value?
Forbes magazine correctly states that MLB's systemic inequity is untenable. Half the league has no real hope when a new season starts. These mega long-term deals are death knells.
The players and the rich teams will never agree to a salary cap
@@BurritoKingdom Agree. Triple the Competitive Value Tax.
Ohtani's contract pays for itself ,tv rights deals play a role and the Dodgers will make Billions from merchandise.
@@marquisewright7229 the issue is for small market teams, especially when all teams started using Analytics. Billy Beane really should never have opened his mouth. So they're at a competitive disadvantage since they don't have the resources that richer big market teams have. Because these teams basically have zero chances of ever winning a world series, their fan bases have slowly stopped watching games or going to games. Which means even less money for these smaller markets. It's basically a death cycle.
@@marquisewright7229 I haven't seen any projections, but I doubt it. What is the net dollar pickup from Ohtani? Nowhere near $1b, unless the entire world buys an Ohtani jersey. Also, will there be a shine if they don't win two or three WS titles? No. One is an abject failure. Moreover, if he is injured/out, it's a monster financial loss. Truth is, we'll never know, although Forbes and others will try. Projections are like weather forecasts. I wouldn't have much faith more than a short time out.
I wonder how the Dodgers will cope with having so much money on the books after the retirements of Mookie and Ohtani. They better have a solid team just for financial advisory.
The contracts are held in escrow, so the money that isn’t being paid out is being invested into bonds, so that it actually obtains interest over time, so even if it’s on their books, they get to pocket the interest on top of other merchandise sales, they will be okay, the rich teams stay rich, with ohtani, if they invest right they could actually double the value of the contract and keep the profit. They make 5% interest a year, and the revenue generated by ohtani alone they should be good. By the time ohtani is done with his career the dodgers should be green on the books so they won’t mind paying out the rest. They don’t have to invest in bonds but they are making money over the 20 years of obtains contracts
@@mmphillips04ifyin other words, Ohtani paying himself. Unicorn. IDK of any other player can do that.
Other than Babe Ruth there hasn't been this type disparity between the top highest paid player and second highest. I think Soto will close that gap this year.
ohtani is smart..he gets most of his money when he is done playing and go back to japan...
he wont have to pay taxes..
You think he wont comback to us? Irs might waiting for him on airport if he comeback to usa. Anyways that boy is money saver, he doesnt care if he pays taxes to avoid drama.
@@yardyouth California is contesting it now. They want their cut.
The Japanese sponsor pay him in Japan, it is not salary income, so no tax from California.
@laserdrill2023 There's an article somewhere about California taxing the deferred income from his Dodger contract as "earned" in the state. I read it months ago but don't remember where or if the state is still pursuing it.
@laserdrill2023 sd13.senate.ca.gov. His Ohtani thing passed, but not sure where it stands
A lot of players actually don't make as much being in big cities. Salaries are the highest taxed source of income compared to other forms of income. Blame the government for creating this mess. That's why so many big bosses make a lot more because they don't have a salary that is taxed as much.
ohtani should earn 5 billion dolloars every year 😮😮😮😮
Make it 10 billion
Ohtani has a WS championship. Judge has been Choke-tober. Dont ever say Judge is better then Ohtani. Ohtani does so much more the Judge. Yep! Rubbing it in to all those Yankee fans who was laughing and calling Ohtani names when he got hurt. Yankees fans are losers because they were cheering for those two idiots who tried to break Betts wrist.
3:30 a fans fell off the stage
💡
Ohtani is not worth 700. Look at him in the Dodgers vs. Padres. Besides game 1, he struggled in the rest of the series
Only for him, there would of been no dodgers v padres
🥱🥱🥱
Its a team game , not a single player can win the match .. ohtani deserved every penny
lol u don’t realize that the mlb is a business. Ohtani makes a lot of money for the dodgers, regardless of whether he plays well in the postseason or not.
this comment is so so naive and dumb lmfao
