Vieste Puglia Italy is a town in the province of Foggia which is located in the Puglia region of southeast Italy. A marine resort in Gargano, Vieste has received Blue Flags for the purity of its waters from the Foundation for Environmental Education. The area covered by the commune is included in the Gargano National Park. Vieste is strategically placed atop the steep Pizzomunno cliffs between two sweeping sandy beaches.
Vieste Italy is known for its beaches, like Scialara, home to the imposing Pizzomunno limestone monolith, and the broad Spiaggia di San Lorenzo. Marine fossils and rare shells are on display at the Museum of Malacology. Nearby in Trieste are the Castello Svevo, a medieval fortress, and the 11th-century Vieste Cathedral, with its baroque bell tower and painted ceiling
By drone video or walking tour you can see Old Vieste stands on a rocky spur overlooking the sea and extends from the castle beach to the beach of “Marina Piccola”, crossing the thin strip of land called “Punta San Francesco”. The main monuments of Vieste, dating back to the Middle Ages, are the Swabian castle and the Cathedral, The castle of Vieste stands on the edge of the historic center, on a cliff overlooking the sea and close to the beach of “Scialara” (also called “beach of the Castle “). Being a military headquarters, it is open to the public only during some events, but a visit is still recommended due to the impressive exterior and the beautiful panoramic view that can be enjoyed from this place. The construction of the castle began in the 11th century; in 1242 King Frederick II decided to rebuild it, within a coastal fortification project that included numerous castles along the Adriatic coast.
