Yes! The pursuit was the best :) Made me rush home everyday from school to see when they would FINALLY get together. Denise is hands down my favorite daytime actress......unmatched!
Agreed...DA is so natural, probably why she never won an Emmy...she makes it look easy...she has chemistry with most of the other actors...Lesley was just so warm, classy, and loving...I wanted her to be my mom, sister, aunt, friend...DA is simply the BEST!
I've always loved Leslie. She comes across as so warm and compassionate, and she's a darn good actress besides. Monica's okay, but not in Lesley's league, IMHO.
Ok that just made me laugh so hard, didn't expect that. I cannot deny it, I think the man is simply scrumptious but that really isn't what brings me here everyday to watch a scene or two. As a teenager Lesley absolutely fascinated me. I wanted to be like her. I thought then and still do that they had mad chemistry. You could almost feel how much she loved him and watching him realize just how much he still loved her and seeing his pursuit of her was just so romantic to my teenage self.
You said it!! It was just about the lust, sex and a son with Monica because other than that there was a whole lot of tension between them. As for Ginny Blake.....she DEFINATELY was not the one! YUCK!! Still waiting for a happy ending, even if it is just his ghost to visit Lesley and tell her she was ALWAYS the one and that crap in the attic never happened!
I was a freshman in college in Florida when Rick finally proposed to Lesley the second time. My best friend called me long distance as soon as it went to commercial. I then had to call another friend back home at the next break and then of course call mom. AT&T made a lot of money that day with daytime long distance calls. Oh yeah, CR and DA had unbelievable chemistry, epsecially when he was trying to win her back and she was taking her time to make sure he really did love her and only her.
Exactly, I was in the Navy and would come up with an excuse to be in the lounge to watch tv, but I caught the proposal I was so happy😂😂😂😂.. DA is fabulous
Ooooo... what's the scene at 1:06?! Looks interesting! Love the song choice by the way. Lesley was always Rick's true love and vice versa. With Monica, it was all about sex, the son was just a incentive, so to speak. Ginny... I don't even know where to start. I just don't know. Disgusting! Lesley will ALWAYS and FOREVER be the one for Rick, no matter what crap the writers try to pull. Love this video!
Thanks again for sharing all your R&L videos with all of us as well as your info. I called the GH fan line and also wrote to the head writer and exec producer protesting Rick's return to be with Monica instead of Lesley. It probably will not do much good but we R&L fans have waited 30 years for a proper reuion between the two. All Rick & Lesley fans should do the same.and make our voices heard
Thanks girl!!! I have been thinking about showcasing Monica & Lesley for a while now. I had soooooooo many clips that I cut out, I could have done so much more but it was REALLY hard to find a song that fit what I wanted to portray. I had so many other songs in mind. I had heard this by Reba but it was a little different so when I found it again by Patti I knew what direction I needed to take. With all the clips I wanted to put in I could have used 3 songs!
The thing about missing earlier big events is that people don't see that it was Lesley that lied to Rick -- first about Monica blackmailing her (pre R&L marriage), and then about Laura being the one having the affair with DH and not herself. Lesley stated on the stand that she and DH were having an affair AND that she killed him in self-defense. She was found guilty. This was very difficult for Rick publicly, and it was what started the problems in their marriage.
3. And finally, I think for many of the R&L fans (except TheRLFan who simply thinks CR is HOT), the fascination is with Lesley's commitment and love. She once told Laura that she never even thought about another man once she met Rick. I think that is the way I am, and I want my Prince Charming to love me back!
Monica & Alan had a different dynamic, fighting, comedy & then romance. Love ALL of the Quartermaines. I just really liked how they made Lesley rise above it all. Made Rick want her & Monica envy her. Speaking of Alan & Monica though I think they had the best lines noone could argue & make up like they do! Not sure if you still watch it but lately Tracy & Monica have gotten a lot of air time which is wonderful!
I agree too! Those little lines about how they talked about going to bingo and stuff like that made me believe they really had. Lesley calling him a ding dong just the pure playfulness they had together.
I was not yet even a pre-teen when I fell in love with their romance! For me it was definately the chase that did it for me! Him wanting and just couldn't have her yet was what I found compelling!
Yes, i would have rushed home too but unfortunately i got home each day just as the credits rolled. My grandma would either audio record it for me or take down all the R & L details for me, knowing i would call her as soon as i got home. I only got to watch on holidays and summer. And my comment that i laughed so hard was not about your vid, lol, i meant that to respond to Cathy. I love all the montages, even those darn sad "Lesley's death" one that keep popping up
Monica was just so needly and whiney with Rick. I just didn't get their PASSION! It's easy to become attracted to someone when your marraige is rocky and you are looking for someone to boost your ego, as Monica did.
Now as an adult I see his faults (those didnt exist when i was a teenager) and sometimes i wish she would just let him have it when on occasion he acts like such a clueless jerk but he always ends up making it right and making her swoon which is was keeps us coming back to watch it one more time. I am still just as captivated by them now as I was then. The fact that he is just serious eye candy is an added bonus!
I have to say this is all so great to have such dialogue with everyone. On the day of the wedding when Rick encounters Monica by the hospital elevator, he tells Monica that this is what he wants not the way it should be.
Part 2 - W/R&M - the Rick personna was written as an 'honest to a fault' man of honor and conviction. Monica would have NEVER survived that image. She was his defiant, irrational, self-serving fix. The part of him that he could not sustain. Lesley, on the other hand - was his vision and his balance. Their love may not have been the big fairytale, but it reminded the viewers that real love is not black and white. It's not 50/50, and it doesn't come without complications, sacrifice and acceptance.
Everyone has a right to an opinion and its interesting to see the different opinions. Denise Alexander made Chris Robinson a better actor he said so himself. They had amazing chemistry. He had zero with Monica or Ginny and that is why so many people still tune in to watch them on YT.
So...I am late to the party -- again. I love this video and song. I had never heard it before, and I like the way you chose snippets to fit with it. The romantic in me loves that Rick and Lesley lived happily ever after (until Guza rewrote history, but I choose to think of all of that like "Bobby in the shower" -- it never happened.) While I don't like the way Rick left Lesley for "the child," I do see how he was one confused guy. I am glad he got his act together!
Thanks for the info. I was so hoping what I was reading was wrong. What a slap in the face to both Rick and Lesley fans and Alan and Monica fans. Both Stuart and Denise deserve a better ending for those characters than they got.
I agree. I love DA and CR together When Rick is "dating" Lesley the second time around before they go to Dino's he claims you look fantastic--when he said it I had to do a double take to see what Lesley was wearing
2. Which makes me wonder: why do some people feel strongly one way-- and not understand when other people feel strongly the other way? I NEVER could understand why anyone would want Rick with Monica! NOW I wonder with a lot less criticism than when I was a teenager. I think that I am old-fashioned. I tend to think of love as being something that might start off with feelings and passion, but over time love becomes a verb and less a feeling. That, to me, is incredible romance.
Rick (MG) was very clueless when it came to Laura. He always thought Lesley was exaggerating the problems -- even Laura's use of birth control pills. He also downplayed Lesley's discomfort with David. Rick (MG) was just so trusting. He always thought that people meant well and really wouldn't do wrong things.
I was thinking the same thing! Ironic how the two of them are the ones left in the house. But I love seeing it and I REALLY loved John Ingle's last scene which I saw first hand and I wondered how much longer he had when I saw it and then he passed shortly after. Such a sweet Edward he was and I hope John RIP!
I must admit some how they always did an amazing job of recasting "Edward". Shit looking back I'm not sure I realized he was played by like 3 different men!? However I never accepted ppl getting recast. It's just so stupid to me. How does Lulu go from jet black hair to a blond?! The only Lulu I seemed to accept was the girl who played her when Lulu & Lucky found out their Dad (Luke) raped Laura as a teenager. I still don't understand why she was recast?! So when they started to do such dumb crap I stopped watching. I mean can you imagine them recasting Luke, Laura, Lesley, Monica.....Hell No! Fans lost their minds when they recast Luke as an evil twin brother Bill, GH fixed that shit quick!
Im not sure where you guys get ur info from but Denise Alexander and Stuart Damon are both invited/coming back. there is a list of ALL gh vets that are coming back on line. LC/SD are the best together i cant see them totally rewriting history for CR 5 minute return im sure its just going to be a dream sequence of some kind.
You are welcome! I have made my rounds posting on websites I also tweeted to both Ron C and Frank V of GH (I signed up for Twitter yesterday JUST to do that). I seriously hope they are keeping her return a secret. There can't be a 50 yr reunion w/out her! I picked up the People GH addition today & it talks about how the fans protested when they killed her! How the fans threw eggs at Judith Chapman's car (Ginny) for several days not that it is acceptable BUT that is how much people love her!
1. I am really quite amazed when I am watching a show with someone and we root for the girl to get together with two completely different characters! While watching LOST, I wanted Kate to end up with Jack, but my daughter wanted Sawyer. I just couldn't see it! This is the same with Rick (Chris Robinson's Rick) and either Lesley or Monica. I only liked Monica with Alan. I thought Rick had GREAT chemistry with Lesley. My little teenage heart went pitter patter!
Holy comments!!! I never saw MGs Rick until recently when I watched them on RUclips. I much prefer CRs Rick though! Imo neither one held a candle to DAs acting though. She’s downright amazing! I will continue to say that I cannot believe that that killed her!!! Give her a couple months off & write her back in!!!! That would not have been hard at all’. Look how much time CR had off when he was “in Nevada”. Dumb dumb move & don’t even get me started on how much I hated Ginny!! 😡
I think CR and DA had great chemistry. Just an opinion. It was Rick who really loved Lesley during the David Hamilton trial. Unfortunately Lesley lied which really hurt Rick and was the catalyst for Monica entering his life. I think CR was a better actor for the Rick role. I truly think Rick loved Lesley the entire time. Remember Rick told Lesley he could have married Monica but she wasn't the full package. Lesley was what he wanted in a wife and a mother to his children.
I cant find the link ...i wanted to post/share it with u:( there is another article with the list in the Port Charles press but IDK how to send it to you....if you goggle it im sure it will come up Thanks for ALL the great uploads you save me at night when i cant sleep lol
Chiming in here. I didn't see/feel chemistry between MG & DA at all. Like his voice, he was just monotone and blah. The scene where Rick confronts Les for returning the engagement ring back, his emotion just blah. Now, CR & DA, well, that's what kept me coming back for more! When Les tells Rick, "that's your baby", that was emotional & powerful w/ Rick saying he wasn't going to live in the house unless she remained his wife! Like someone said, I just don't see the connection w/ MG & DA!
Cathy, my 2 comments were in reply to this but i was in such a darn hurry to go get my daugher i hit show comments instead of reply so they kind of posted all over here. lol.
Part 1 - Woah.. First of all. The writers lay the groundwork for the basis of 'chemistry' with the storyline. Lust is easy to portray. Love is a little harder to deliver. Point and check. This is a soap, fiction.. Fabricated alterante reality. If you watch the R&L story all the way through - you would understand the complicity of R&L's relationship. Sometimes one person loves the other much more - and they become the GLUE or the magnet of the relationship. Love isn't alwats 50/50.
I HATED GiNNY BLAKE. I quit watching the show when Rick married her. Gloria did that to screw the Lesley fans out there. Gloria really had an axe to grind with Denise and Genie....if only we knew the true story behind it all.
Oh I've been loving Monica and Tracy currently! Loved when Tracy said she was happy to be back "in our own kitchen" and Monica was like "MY own kitchen". lol Cook never let anyone in there!
I gotta say that the first time I saw the original Rick was on YT. Chris was already in the role when I started watching BUT I will give you this and I have said it before, when I watch Michael Gregory's portrayal I did feel like he was head over heels in love w/Lesley and did not go for Monica's games and I have tried to imagine him play the jerk part of Rick & can't.
GHRickLesley, there was a scene where Lesley called out Michael Gregory's Rick for defending Monica against Lesley. To me, Michael Gregory's Rick seemed smitten with Monica. So I could very easily see him being a jerk to Lesley. I thought that scene with him defending Monica was pretty jerky and he even hired Monica back after all that she had done to Lesley. That was jerky too.
@@renealexander2703 The only time I did see Michael Gregory was when they were posted here. If I had watched when that Rick was on I think I would've been bored. I think I started watching right after he left. Leslie Charleson was the 1st Monica I remembered too, I didn't know Patsy Rahn's Monica (until these clips). I do remember Mary O'brien's Heather and remembered being sad when they recast with Robin Mattson but she turned out to own the role just like it seems Laura Wright owns the Carly role now. I did like Sarah Brown's (1st Carly) portrayal the best! She was good for the trashy Carly and Laura Wright brings out classy Carly in the role.
Whoever said that CR & DA did not MESH is BLIND!! You've got to be absolutely joking right?! My goodness Stevie Wonder can see their chemistry!! Why do you think it didn't last long for CR after DA left? Why do you think GH received the response to Ricks' marrying Ginny, the way they did!? Because of DAs' absence that's why! I'm sorry but the person arguing against CR & DA throughout this thread is wrong!!
I wish I could find the David Hamilton trial (and the whole DH s/l) here on YT, unfortunately it seems almost impossible. I caught a few scenes of David Hamilton before the "incident" occurred but that's it. MG's Rick was totally in love with Leslie and didn't want Laura's drama or Monica to interfere with their marriage. I never felt that with CR's Rick.
Gotta say, I agree with GHricklesley here. I've watched both Rick's from the beginning, and although I LOVED MG's LOVE for Lesley, he didn't have the acting skills to meet DA on the playing field. With the hefty emotional storylines on deck for DA in 78 - 80, the producers knew they need a stronger, more dynamic actor to play opposite Lesley. CR brought friction and dimension to their complicated relationship. BUT!!! I always wished they could have combined MG's "sweet" with CR's "sour." :)
Indeed, Michael Gregory's Rick loved Lesley 100%. From the few scenes I've seen I got the impression that he wasn't that clueless about Laura. I think he tried to convince her that they had a right to focus on their marriage and not on Laura's constant drama. I only wish I could see the whole David Hamilton s/l, caught a few clips recently but I've never seen the whole thing play out, darn!
I watched R&L consistently when Lesley fell down the stairs (due to Monica's arrival to blackmail Lesley to break off the engagement). I saw it the very first time when Lesley was in the car with Cam and it went out of control and he died. I absolutely loved Michael Gregory's Rick...probably because he loved Lesley 100%. His main fault was that he was clueless when it came to others not being trustworthy -- Laura, David, Monica -- and he didn't see the the damage they could do.
yocathyberger, Michael Gregory's Rick was not perfect and no better than Chris Robinson's Rick. There were a couple of times where Michael Gregory's Rick did not seem 100% into Lesley. He was way too lenient with Monica.
I can't find anything. The only thing I can find is people WISHING they were bringing her back. If you do come across the link, try sending me a private message with it. Thanks!
Also I appreciate all the wonderful archiving of all GH couples and s/l's here on yt, including R&L's. I've just always wondered why people are so drawn to CR and DA when I think as actors they just do not mesh.
I think had MG stayed, R&L would have still had marital problems. But I can't imagine MG's Rick having a torrid love affair with LC's Monica! Gloria Monty was smart to recast Rick, I know I was glued to the TV for the CR/LC Rick/Monica affair! Still, I wish there was a "David Hamilton playlist" on yt lol, I've never seen any of it practically
Exactly, CR definitely played the "have my cake and eat it too" to perfection lol. I guess I'm with Gloria Monty in that I was drawn in to GH essentially because of the Rick/Monica affair with CR in the role. There would have never been a quad with MG because his Rick seemed to really only love Lesley. I only discovered MG's Rick recently here on yt and I was like, oh, so THIS is why Rick married Lesley, he was actually hot for her, something I never felt between CR and DA.
Victoria Grant, not true. There would definitely be a quad. Michael Gregory's Rick seemed more into Monica. Lesley even called him out on had he would constantly defend Monica and he even hired Monica after she blackmailed Lesley and made Lesley miscarry. And I've seen CR and DA be very hot for each other.
I found Rick & Lesley compelling if I didn't I wouldn't post what I post after all these years. In 1978, the 1st character I remember was Bobbie & the Laura/Scotty/Bobbie SL. BUT what made GH can't miss for me was the Lassa fever when the quadrangle of Lesley/Rick/Monica/Alan heated up. Lesley making Rick want her back is probably what compells viewers to be honest, she rose up became stronger & he had to fight to win her back. A story of look what your missing & putting the man in his place.
Yes, the new head writer, Ron Carlivati is a Rick/Monica fan. They have all of these vets returning & no mention of Denise! April 1st is April fools day so I hope that Rick reuniting with Monica is a joke! I will tune out AGAIN if GH hooks Rick back up w/Monica a huge slap in the face to Rick/Lesley fans! Read the story on the tvguide website. I just don't understand why they can't let Alan/Monica have what they had & give Rick/Lesley fans have what they want for ONCE!!!!!!!
I'm old fashioned, and in real life I would want the Rick/Lesley to win out. But on soaps frankly I root for whichever actors have chemistry together. I would have rooted for Rick/Lesley had Micheal Gregory stayed. But when CR took over I thought he had incredible chemistry with LC so I switched and became a Rick/Monica fan.
I started watching GH right when Rick and Monica fled GH when the Lassa quarantine was lifted. I was drawn in and hooked because of the chemistry between CR and LC. After the Rick and Monica affair was over I really was never interested in watching R&L rebuild their marriage because CR and DA had no chemistry. I moved on to SD (Alan) and LC (Monica) because they had chemistry AND a comedy dynamic!
Michael Gregory's had chemistry with DA and his Rick would have never had an affair with LC's Monica because there was almost no chemistry there. CR and LC (Monica) had massive chemistry. CR's Rick went back to Leslie after he found out about Monica's lie, true, but also because he'd satisfied his undeniable desire for Monica. I wonder if Rick/Lesley shippers are really just concerned with "husband goes back to the wife, bitch mistress gets left in the cold".
Oh I agree, Monica was always acting like Alan was so terrible when she was around Rick. Granted I didn't find Monica at all interesting until LC took over the role. The actress who was playing Monica right before LC was uninteresting IMO and made the character uninteresting. For me CR and LC had that torrid chemistry and so even though I can see why others would despise Monica, their affair is what made me into a GH fan.
IMO CR and LC (Monica) could portray lust easily because the 2 actors had sexual chemistry onscreen. MG and DA had sexual chemistry but they also had loving chemistry. Love is also easy to deliver if the 2 actors have that magical onscreen connection, which MG and DA did have. Um, yeah, I'm aware this is fiction. What I find hard to understand about R&L shippers is how they could find R&L so compelling to watch when there is no chemistry between CR and DA.
I always felt the original Rick really did love Lesley. I just never felt a real connection between Chris Robinson and Denise Alexander. I would have been a huge Rick and Lesley shipper had the original actor who played Rick stayed.
Monica would never have been MG's Rick's "fix" because MG and LC had almost no chemistry. Monica was CR's Rick's "fix" because LC and CR had torrid onscreen chemistry. MG and DA's R&L indeed had "black & white real love" onscreen because the 2 actors just had that connection. CR/DA 's R&L did not because the 2 actors just did not have onscreen chemistry. Sacrifice in a soap marriage is easy and entertaining to watch when the 2 actors have chemistry. Example SD (Alan) and LC (Monica) lol!
Actually I liked Monica with Alan as much as with Rick lol. Leslie Charleson and Stuart Damon had something special from day 1! They had passion, love, and comedy! I always looked at CR and DA like Steve and Audrey Hardy. Married forever but sterile and boring. Never saw any chemistry between JB and RA.
Yes! The pursuit was the best :) Made me rush home everyday from school to see when they would FINALLY get together. Denise is hands down my favorite daytime actress......unmatched!

I used to be obsessed with Lesley’s makeup at this point in time. I literally tried to achieve that perfect lipgloss look lol
So agree with you. Rick also was a different character with Monica. Lesley gave him a tenderness or gentleness that otherwise was not seen
Now as an adult I see his faults (those didnt exist when i was a teenager) and sometimes i wish she would just let him have it when on occasion he acts like such a clueless jerk but he always ends up making it right and making her swoon which is was keeps us coming back to watch it one more time. LC/SD are the best together i cant see them totally rewriting history for CR 5 minute return im sure its just going to be a dream sequence of some kind.
I,too, have been loving the Monica and Tracy barbs and moments of sweetness lately. Isn't it funny that they are the last two in the house?
Enjoyed Content🌸
Dumb dumb move
& don’t even get me started on how much I hated Ginny!! 😡
So true! I obviously think they had great chemistry as well :)
Yes, I just could not see that MG could have pulled off the intensity! I only knew CR & DA and they stuck with me after all these years :)
Thanks! I am glad you liked it.
I cant find the link ...i wanted to post/share it with
u:( there is another article with the list in the Port Charles press but IDK how to send it to you....if you goggle it im sure it will come up Thanks for ALL the great uploads you save me at night when i cant sleep lol
Thanks!! This is happy news! I am going to check now!
I HATED GiNNY BLAKE. I quit watching the show when Rick married her. Gloria did that to screw the Lesley fans out there. Gloria really had an axe to grind with Denise and Genie....if only we knew the true story behind it all.
Ok I agree with you that Monica was her true self with Alan. I loved Alan as a kid. I'm shocked Gloria Monty wanted Monica with Rick.
@@GHRickLesley , I feel the same way.
Your grandmother must've loved you a lot to do this for you. How special!
I give it to monica she was a peace of work back in the day
Looks like we have a troll looming on this board trying to rile us up, but it won't work. Ignore her and she will go away.
Not true, victoria grant. MG's gregory was way too lenient with Monica and protective of Monica against Lesley.
Got that right Debbie. know one had the chemistry they did. I still watch GH and I don`t see it with anyone. I wish they would bring them back.
RealLois, I've been following those comments and I think you are correct! IRRITATING GNAT! Go fly AWAY!
I've just always wondered why people are so drawn to CR and DA when I think as actors they just do not mesh.
victoria grant, I wonder why people are drawn to MG and DA when I think the actors do not mesh.
I think had MG stayed, R&L would have still had marital problems. But I can't imagine MG's Rick having a torrid love affair with LC's Monica! Gloria Monty was smart to recast Rick, I know I was glued to the TV for the CR/LC Rick/Monica affair!
Still, I wish there was a "David Hamilton playlist" on yt lol, I've never seen any of it practically
victoria grant, I can definitely see MG's Rick cheating on Lesley. He seemed more like a playboy type.
What Cris Robinson comming back? What do you mean reuniting with Monica??? What the hell
That never happened! They made Rick kind of a villain
I disagree. CR and DA has LOTS of chemistry. I love them together.
I would have been a huge Rick and Lesley shipper had the original actor who played Rick stayed.
victoria grant, Michael Gregory's Rick was way too protective of Monica. I never felt the connection between Michael Gregory's Rick and Lesley.
Ugh. Why did the singer change the song? Not very good, either. Just screeching. 🙄 Had to mute it.
God they ruined this song. This song belongs to Reba and Linda. No one else comes close
